HAC-504 Aftermarket Honeywell Humidifier Wick Filter

HAC-504 Aftermarket Honeywell Humidifier Wick FilterProduct is not the same size as the filters from the original manufacturer. Had to trim several inches off with a scissor to fit the humidifier.

I bought 2 just because the shipping cost was the same as buying one. I was wary of the purchase because of the reviews of it being too big, and yes I put it in dry and it was slightly too tall, however, I was smart enough to realize that when you get it damp first, it flexes like a wet sponge and seals perfectly! No table saw required. I have been using the first one for 2 months now and I will keep ordering these filters when I need to replace them.

I received the two humidifier wick filters promptly and they were as advertised. They are working very well. They absorb water well and do not dry up when the humidifier is turned off for several hours.

Bionaire BUL7933 Ultrasonic Tower Humidifier

Bionaire BUL7933 Ultrasonic Tower HumidifierWonderful so far, this little humidifier really puts out the humidity for a large bedroom--and that's on the lower setting! One filling on low can last you two nights. No filters, so like other ultrasonics, it may put out some white dust. Regardless, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I'm breathing so much easier, and there's not a lot of upkeep required. Highly recommended.

1. Because the humidity is not distributed upwards, but at an angle instead, it sprays the raised silver top of the tank with moisture which then needs to be cleaned up. Might as well be leaking from the tank, what a pain.

2. This unit also has an inaccurate humidity sensor. Because it humidifies the air directly around the unit, a room with 30% humidity is suddenly detected as 60% humidity after the unit runs for a short time, causing the unit to prematurely switch off. You'll have to override this by setting it at "always on", but the sensor still displays the inaccurate reading which is therefore a reminder every time you look at the unit of how it's not functioning as designed.

3. Because the tank is so opaque from dark tint, it's very hard to see the water level and how much is left.

4. The tank doesn't hold as much water as other units on the market, and the handle placement makes it awkward to hold while filling.

I previously owned the Holmes ultrasonic model, which was a great unit except that it was a pain to clean. I figured this Bionaire unit, which was $20 more and looked cool, would be easier to clean. After opening it up, it looked more difficult to clean. Returning this to Target and going with the Holmes.

I have two of these and they are terrific! No filters which means less maintenance and no additional expense. Have owned several Bonaire humidifiers in the past, this is by far the best! Efficient , had its own humidistat, quiet and attractive. The only reason I had to replace one ,was because it became a victim of hurricane sandy.

It is quiet running, you can adjust the moisture. Runs a good 24 hours on second cycle before I have to refill.

At the end of the season I just dry out throughly and put a little vaseline around the opening before storage.

We have had a number of humidifiers in our home to try and combat the dry air. We live in Wisconsin so the air gets pretty dry in the winter from the furnace running all of the time. After some bad luck with units purchases at the local hardware store, I decided to buy one online.

After reading some of the other reviews, I was a little hesitant to purchase this unit (in regards to leaking and humidifier monitor issues). However, after we got this unit and started using it, we absolutely LOVE it! We have not experienced any of the issues that the other reviews mentioned. The humidity monitor works great, and is a very nice feature. Although we have a ceiling fan running all the time so that probably helps circulate the humidity around the room. Our last unit actually did leak right out of the box, but this one is perfectly clean.

The digital screen is a very nice feature. The buttons are intuitive and I was able to figure out all of the controls within a few seconds. Many of the humidifiers available look somewhat "medical", which is not appealing when it's going to be sitting in my living room. This thing is even more stylish than it looks in the picture. It even has button to turn the digital screen off, in case you have it in your bedroom and don't want the extra light.

The spout works great, and the water compartment is easily removed for fillup. It's very quiet, so won't keep you awake at night either.

If there was a negative, it might be that the water output is not that high, but I don't think ultrasonic units have as much output as heating units. Everything else has far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it.

Kenmore Console Humidifier Replacement FiltersGrossly over charged for the product so I have learned my lesson not to purchase from this vendor again. This product should be purchased from a Sears store.

Exactly what I needed. They came quickly in the mail. The "cheaper" ones (significantly cheaper) that you can buy on line as well, the reviews said don't work very well at all, so I "bit the bullet" and spent the money for the "real ones". I'm sure I will be glad I did. Too bad Sears (store one mile away) doesn't "carry them" anymore. :( sjs

SPT SU-2550W Ultrasonic Humidifier with Fragrance Diffuser, White

SPT SU-2550W Ultrasonic Humidifier with Fragrance Diffuser, WhiteI work at a drugstore and could have purchased any number of humidifiers and gotten a good discount. However, I wanted one that was more stylish for my master bedroom. Also, I was very sick with a sinus infection and simply wasn't well enough to venture out to make a purchase. I looked on amazon.com and found the SPT brand had good reviews. This item in particular caught my eye because of the unique design. FYI it also comes in purple, blue and pink. I chose the white as my bedroom is white and turquoise. I paid extra to have it arrive the next day which was a Friday.

UPS delivered it around lunchtime on Friday. It was boxed well both from Amazon and the manufacturer. It comes encased in molded styrofoam. When I opened up the styrofoam my happiness floated away as it was half empty. The top air diffuser section was missing. Upon inspecting the rest of the humidifier I found it had been previously unpacked and the plastic bag around the cord had been ripped out so someone could get to the cord. Clearly this was a returned item.

I contacted Amazon online chat and they were very nice and offered a refund or replacement. I asked how long it would take to get a replacement and they said it would arrive on Monday. I explained to the representative that I was disappointed since I was sick and couldn't go out to purchase one and that I had paid extra to have it arrive overnight because I needed it right away. The representative had not been aware of this but when I told them they immediately told me they would send a replacement and it would arrive the next day. Sure enough Saturday morning around 10:30 UPS delivered a new humidifier!

Now for the second one. It contained all its parts! I was very impressed with the quality of the product and the stylish appearance. It really looks like a genie bottle! Initially I set it up on my kitchen to be able to watch it and make sure it worked properly. I used Brita filtered water and filled the tank 3/4 full. It ran all day on a low setting and when I took it to my bedroom turned it up to medium high and it ran all night and still had a lot of water left in the tank in the morning. Whether it was this humidifier or the antibiotics I had my first good nights sleep in six nights!

I found this unit to be exceedingly quiet aside from an occasional slight gurgle of water. The mist is silent at dispersion and does not spit or sputter. I like that the night light can be turned off and that it has a bright red "refill" button. I have not let it run out of water as yet so I can't speak to when that refill button comes on. Also, from reading other reviews on a variety of humidifiers I knew there was a possibility of water leaking so I placed a towel underneath. After running all day and night the towel is totally dry.

This unit is easy to refill with a removable screw in open/close knob on the bottom of the tank. I do see that this will be an item that needs some upkeep on the tank. You will definitely need a bottle brush to be able to get inside and keep it clean as it does have some nooks and crannies.

After only one days use I can say I am pleased with the unit. I will update as time goes by with further information.

UPDATE: I have now had this unit about two weeks and have used it off and on during that time. I have been very pleased with its low water usage, unique night light feature, and the fact that the water doesn't spit or splatter. I had a towel under it the entire time and it never got damp at all.

One note about Amazon humidifier reviews. Very rarely is there a five star review on humidifiers! Seems every brand I researched has its difficulties which I attribute to two things. The first thing is the fact that you are dealing with a small appliance that uses water. The second thing is many difficulties could be avoided by reading the instruction manual. This particular humidifier comes with a great manual.

I'm happily surprised with this humidifier. This thing put out A LOT of steam on the highest setting. It shoots right out of the top and looks like smoke billowing out or like those fog machines people use for Halloween. After a couple of hours, I could tell the air around me wasn't so dry. It felt like I could breath easier. We have a wood stove so the air in our home is super dry. This humidifier is attractive and I LOVE the added scent diffuser. I bought some lavendar oil to put into it and it works really really well. This humidifier will run about 8 hours on a full tank, going full blast. Its also got a blue light in it that you can switch on to use as a night light. Its easy to refill as well. I'd recommend this if you have dry air. Its a "cooler" looking humidifier than the run of the mill sort.

Update 12/19/12 After having this humidifier for about a month, IT BROKE!! I cleaned the machine out with a mild vinegar solution, didn't mess with any of the parts, and now it does not work. I'm so mad. Now I have to waste more money and buy another machine. I will never buy another thing from SPT. Good luck if you buy this. Mine broke so quickly and easily. Pathetic junk.

Buy SPT SU-2550W Ultrasonic Humidifier with Fragrance Diffuser, White Now

I've had this product for about a month and a half. After the first day, the plastic piece that holds the fragrance diffuser bottle in place broke. At first I didn't know what it was, then when I took the diffuser out to check how much oil was left another piece broke off. It does say not to turn too tight, which I didn't and it still broke. I only have half the plastic left now. It still stays in place but I'm worried that it won't last through the next batch of oil I put in the diffuser.

I only notice a higher level of humidity when I turn the knob to the highest setting. This uses a lot of water and it won't last through the night. I haven't actually timed it, but I would say that if you leave it at the highest level, in 4-5 hours you won't have any water left. I only have a 8x8 room and I live in a tent on a base in Afghanistan. My room is closed off with walls and a blanket for a roof, so maybe the moister is being absorbed into them. It's so dry out here I was hoping this would help keep me a little moist! I've found that if I put it on the high setting for about an hour, then turn it down to the middle setting, it will last until morning (about 9 hours).

I can smell the fragrance, but lately I noticed a sour smell, like it's getting mildew in it. I've cleaned it several times and still get the smell. I only smell it from the hole where the mist comes out, not from the base or the tank. The mildew smell overwhelms my orange oil fragrance. I don't know what else to do with it. Everyday I empty the left over water, clean out the little "mist hole" and let everything dry out. I still get the smell after about an hours usage. The water I use is drinking water, so it's not coming from that. I think this would probably work good in a kids room, if it's of smaller size. Overall, I give it three stars.

A complete waste of money. Used it ONE time and that's it. It doesn't work now. Quite frankly, I'm pretty ticked off. Do not waste your money on this diffuser. It immediately leaked all over the place, red light stayed on and quit working. I felt like $50 would at least get me a somewhat decent diffuser. Boy was I mistaken.

Aprilaire Model 800 Automatic Whole-house Steam Humidifier with Digital Control

Aprilaire Model 800 Automatic Whole-house Steam Humidifier with Digital ControlSave yourself many dollars and hours of frustration. I have tried 2 other whole-house humidifiers and 3 portable Humidifiers and this one is the best;

After frustrations with those previous models, this Aprilaire Model 800 was recommended to me by a friend in the HVAC business.

If you have hard water (test it), you want this unit. You just replace the canister and done. Cleaning sucks and can damage a humidifiers coils, the crud that builds up inside a humidifier is amazing in such a short time with hard water. With this unit the canister, which contains the coils, is replaced. Yes its not cheap, but its easy. Ask yourself, how much is it worth to you to not have your hardwood floors dry out and buckle or separate, not have your skin dry out and itch, or have your guitar dry out and crack? All of the above happened to me before this unit.

You'll likely want an HVAC professional to install this, but handymen with a little knowledge of plumbing can attempt; needs water line & drain nearby.

Outside Sensor: unless you have an easy way to install an outside sensor, then forget it. Instead, all you do is watch the windows, if they show condensation, turn the humidity down. I have my 800 cranked up and never had a problem.

I had the Honeywell Truesteam (and previously an older Aprilaire model), the Honeywell was time consuming to clean, and my unit broke the first winter. After replacing 3/4 of the parts in it and it still didn't work, I threw it out and got this.

It produces more steam than the other units I tried, approx. 12% more humidity (40% is ideal) than Honeywell, in my experience. I have a little humidistat I use to gauge its effectiveness.

If you have hard water, I suggest getting a filter otherwise expect to replace this up to 2 times a winter. Its your water, not the unit.

When it is time to replace the canister you can clean it with some CLR (soak overnight) and it will likely last a few more weeks. I put a wine cork in one end of the canister to hold the CLR and water overnight. Then shake and empty it over toilet, a lot of crud will come out.

Replacing canister: is easy, this is the beauty of this unit; turn off, unscrew cover, loosen hose clamp, remove black tube, disconnect 3 cables (easy), reverse process to install new one, turn on and Done! 5 minutes tops.

It a good idea to keep a spare canister handy, you won't have to go without humidity.

Thermostat: I tied my into into my existing HVAC thermostat and didn't need the digital control, its displays the humidity right next to temperature, plus my existing thermostat was in an appropriate place in the house. I needed my HVAC professional for this.

This unit is metal, not plastic, its feels very solid. I've had no problems. It has an error light to tell you if there a problem or when to change canister.

Portable Whole-house Humidifiers. My experience has been they service a much much smaller area than they suggest and are rated as if your house is of the most well insulated home out there. For Example I bought the biggest unit I could find (Essicks Air Whole House 300), its the best of the portables, but it is only good to keep one room fully humidified. It did raise the humidity but not nearly enough. Granted, my home is not well insulated. Also you have to constantly fill it with water, every other day, in my case and this thing holds like 5 gallons.

Best of Luck!!!!

Works perfectly like a champ. Installed in Oct 2011 on a hybrid gas furnace/heat pump system. Worked perfectly last winter. Replaced canister in Oct 2012 (replacing it is a snap) and continues to work fine. I run mine on 240V and it runs wide open at about 23 gpd most of the time when the OAT is below 40 or so. The improvement over a bypass humidifier is like night and day; it achieves 40-45% RH nearly all the time. Of course, it cost $$$ to operate because boiling water takes energy. Figure about $300 per season. But I didn't buy it to be cheap. I bought it to create comfort rather than just the illusion of comfort that a bypass humidifier provides, and it succeeds in every aspect.

I had the Aprilaire model 800 installed 1 year ago (November 2011) and it has worked great no problems -going to change out the canister this month and hope for another year of no problems. I saw the earlier write-up of this system having issues but for me the system works great and i compared to the honeywell humidifier and based on my research this system is superior.

We had ours installed a while ago (early fall 2012) too. Absolutely loving it! Steam goes right into the heat vents and goes all the way up onto the 2nd floor of the house. Waterbill went down unlike with the old version water went down the drain rather than being blown into the heat vents!!! (besides owning antique furniture (18th c) we do not have any more broken ripped cracked furnitures. We had the previous model installed to stop the insanity of breaking furnitures due to the extreme dry heat in the house. The result was a poor 25-30% now we are up to 45%! Sound furniture and sound health! No more stuffy noses or sore throats in the mornings!!!) (and yes we had 4 "AC"Plumbers come and look at the device, who only then turned around and ran its too new. 'Got to find the right honest & KNOWLEDGEABLE installer! + do your homework and find out (via Web) how it functions, so the "professionals" cant tell you a story!)

Want Aprilaire Model 800 Automatic Whole-house Steam Humidifier with Digital Control Discount?

Bought brand new. Installed by a qualified tech. Didn't produce steam. Tech indicated that mesh in one of the electrodes fell down. He suspected that the box might have been dropped during shipping. Anyway with the replacement canister after a week, worked fine for few days. Yellow light came on indicating that there is not enough water in the canister. He said there are some deposits, cleaned the canister and installed it. I still get yellow light once in a while. I turn it off. Let it drain by flushing the canister and turn it back on. Unlike the old Aprilaire humidifier in my old house, Aprilaire 800 has been a real disappointment. It is not something you install and forget about it.

I noticed that their was a piping tube and some kind of plastic filter with a piece of mesh the instructions did not tell me where any of it went so I turned on my air cooler it blew cold air after filling it with water and it went all over my floor so now I have a huge mess of water to clean up. So I wanted to give a heads up. You might want to call the manufacturer if you cant figure it out the number is in the instruction booklet.

Essick Air HD1407 Whole-House Humidifier, Black/Honey Oak

Essick Air HD1407 Whole-House Humidifier, Black/Honey OakI purchased this last year and it worked fine once I figured it out. At first it would shut off after the first of the two tanks emptied. I thought it was broke. However, the trick is that it needs to be leveled out just right such that second tank can kick in after the first tank is empty. This took some experimenting with shims under the left side front wheel. It's an interesting design. The two tanks are offset such that the right side tank always empties first. But, if the unit is not leveled correctly the second tank will never drain. Actually, even if this is the case it will still "work", you'll just find you are constantly filling the first tank.

OK, first a few basic physics things you should realize about humidifiers.

1) They move lots of air.

2) They handle lots of water.

Given the above, they are going to get dusty and want to grow mold and mildew.

That is just the way it is and ALL humidifiers of this type (cool air) will

have these issues. The heat type have their own separate set of problems,

not addressed here as this is not that type of unit.

This means two things:

1) They need complete cleaning regularly

2) They need new "filters" (actually moisture wicks) regularly

So this unit does work and gets the room it is in reasonably moist.

The unit is able to raise the humidity by about 5-20 percent. 20 close to the unit,

5 further away. It is way too noisy on the high setting, quite nice on the low setting,

OK on the middle setting as long as you do not need to be in that room for a long time.

I have found that after about 2-4 weeks the filters will need to be replaced so factor that

into your cost.

A big tissue is that as with way too many products, this (and I suspect most alternatives)

have lots of nooks and crevices and crannies that are a total pain to clean very well. If you

want to get this unit really clean, plan to take it outdoors, use a high pressure hose on the

non-electrical parts, and partially disassemble the fan housings (thereby involving electrical

parts so be sure you know what you are doing). A complete clean can take 45 minutes to an hour

of work but you will not get it clean without the effort. Also plan to do this every 2-4 weeks.

Bottom line, works OK but is a pain to maintain. OTOH, I doubt the alternatives are much eaiser

just a fact of life with humidifiers.

Update: I have stopped using this on reccomendation of my pulmunologist. He says that this type

can spew fungus into the air. In addition, after checking the humidity in an adjacent room with

it running and then again after not using it for two weeks (similar weather, BTW), there was only

about 4-5 percent difference in humidity. I strongly suspect that if you want good whole house you will

need a unit built into your house's HVAC system.

Buy Essick Air HD1407 Whole-House Humidifier, Black/Honey Oak Now

We purchased this humidifier to use year round (we moved to Nevada) and have used it daily for the last 6 months. The 2 tanks are fairly easy to carry, and are easy to fill. This system is much easier than bringing the entire unit to the sink. For the setting and the lack of humidity in the desert I need to fill them every day. We have had to change out the filters twice so far, and as long as you are gentle with installing them, there are no issues putting the new ones in. (we have very hard water, which does deposit minerals on the filters requiring replacement) The fins of the filters are glued on one side so that they flex to fit the holder.

The actual humidifier has 3 fan speeds and is quite accurate in measuring the humidity output. If you place the unit at a central location, or near an air intake for your HVAC system, it does do the entire house up to 2000 square feet. It can be cumbersome to clean out the interior of the unit which holds the 2 tanks (there is a left and right tank), and there seems to be no easy way to clean off the fan blades.

Another customer had a bad experience with this humidifier, but mine has been great. I got it online and it arrived in good shape and works well, with no problems for the last three years.

I got it to keep my acoustic guitars properly humidified in winter and it does the trick nicely. Set the humidity at 35%, fan on low and it works well keeping the whole downstairs of our 1900 sq foot old farm house properly humidified. My wife says it makes the house more comfortable in winter.

My only issue is that when the filter gets old (2 to 3 months), it grow bacteria, smells like a fish tank and blows that stink all over the room it's in. (I haven't tried the antibacterial water treatment.) So you will need a supply of replacement filters onhand.

It also needs to be refilled about every 24 to 30 hours when the humidity is especially low and the unit runs alot. It's a bit of a chore adding water, but it's worth it.

It needs to be pretty level or else you will get an error message, which is a bit of an issue in our old house where the room it is in (music room) has slanting floors.

On the upside it does not produce the powdery film on everything that you get with a misting humidfier if you have hard water.

Want Essick Air HD1407 Whole-House Humidifier, Black/Honey Oak Discount?

The molded plastic used in this unit is by far the lowest quality I've seen on any home appliance sold in the United States. Much of it is precisely the same consistency you find in the 25-cent plastic toys that come out of gumball machines at the laundromat. No, I'm not exaggerating.

The very weakest plastic in the unit is the flexible housing for the filters. Ours arrived with one, the left, twisted out of shape. The filters themselves, banging around the unit during shipping, had broken "glazing" -the little plastic strips holding them together.

The moving parts controlling the emptying sequence for the tanks are also made of abysmally poor quality plastic, which is why it failed almost immediately. Although my floor is perfectly level, the right tank (my right, when facing the unit) fails to empty unless I literally jack the unit up a couple of inches.

The design of the machine is excellent. It's a very efficient evaporative array. Properly manufactured with metal framing -or at least a decent quality polymer -it would function reliably for many years. Alas, there's absolutely nothing like that available in the American marketplace, and we have only ourselves to blame. It's the product of an ugly business model that not only erodes the quality of the consumer goods we buy, but steadily impoverishes the US by ensuring that most of our productive assets and consumer expenditure flow overseas, often to nations inherently hostile to our own interests.

The marketing literature for this unit says it is "assembled in the US with imported components". In other words, all the value-added takes place in some Chinese factory, where disenfranchised laborers earn $120 a month working 60-hour weeks with no benefits, using energy and other resources subsidised by the Chinese govt. What little production takes places in the US is low-pay, low-skill and unlikely to make any substantive contribution to economic prosperity. The company itself is at the mercy of the giant big-box retailers (and now, Amazon) that channel our sovereign wealth abroad, with only a few senior managers earning a middle class-wage, while the CEO and CFO earn millions.

It's an embarrassment. Think about this the next time your congressman champions "free trade".

Graco Pack 'N Play with Newborn Napper Elite, VanceThis is a great product for me as I'm wanting my baby as close to me as possible through the night, but I don't have a lot of room for changing. It's basically like every other pack and play Graco makes, except this one doesn't have a vomit-inducing print that the baby won't ever understand anyway. It's a simple print that's sand and stone colored. It's the same model as the BRU Elefante(sp?) P&P, but again, not as vomit-inducing.

The newborn napper is highly recommended because it puts the baby at somewhat of an incline which is good if baby has digestion problems. It also has a 15 lb limit weight capacity, as does the bassinet.

I got it right away, put it together myself in 40 minutes (38 weeks pregnant) and it's reasonably light and has wheels. What more could you want?

I had specific needs to meet for this purchase. I needed 1. A changing table since space is limited in the baby's room. 2. Storage for the supplies since, you guessed it space is limited in the baby's room. 3. Wheels I am not that big and I did not want to lug around a heavy, awkward cube around my house like I did 12 years a go with a cheap play pen someone bought me when I had my first child in my 20's. 4. Bassinet Since space is limited and we did not want to put up the big crib yet, we are using this as the baby's bed for now till he gets a little bigger and we are forced to use the big crib. 5. Newborn Napper is just a bonus. I didnt plan on using this, but I do set the baby in it while Im in the room putting clothes away and folding diapers, which take a while to fold and I dont want to take the changing table off to get to the bassinet.

I reviewed over 100 play pens / pack n plays / what ever they call them these days. I chose this one because some of the others I checked out the people said the changing table was wobbly or it tilted down into the unit and they were dissatisfied with that. (Well, I guess I would be too) This one was stated as not doing this because it is located on the end and not the side of the unit and it has more stability. That is the number 1 selling point for me! It is nice and does not. The storage is nice, not what I was expecting. Its a soft sided storage and the "shelves" are not really deep, so stuff falls out and it kind of sags down. I am 100% happy with the assembly. My 6 year old and I put it together in about an hour. We stuck to the step by step instructions, since we used it as a learning tool and she read and decided what we to do next with the words and pictures. If I would have been without her, I would have had it together in maybe 20 min!

I am most dissatisfied with the colors. They are nice and not ugly, but by looking at the picture, it APPEARS black and white with a "snowflake" type design. I thought it would match some of the other items we had. I read the description and it said dark grey, cream and taupe. I was hoping it was close to the grey and white, but it was not. Its still a nice pattern and color, but not EXACTLY what I was looking for.

OVERALL Not big issues that would prevent me from buying it again if I had to. The price was higher than some others, Im not sure why? But to stick to the NEEDS I had to meet this was the type of cash I had to spend.

Our infant has LOVED the napper ever since we brought him home. It is very soft and sturdy and cradles him right in place for hours! The changing table is also sturdy and has a soft pad for the baby to lay on. The unit folds up nicely if needed but the napper and changing table do not fold out of the way of the play yard underneath, but it does create room for storage until you take them off. The storage this offers is worth the price alone!

This pac and play was given to me as a gift from family. It is actually the second pac and play that I have used. (My first one was given to me seven years ago for my first child). I was impressed right away after taking it out of the box. The mattress is very cushy and the material is soft. I love the napper! It is so snuggly and the way that it is made wants you to put your little one in it. The storage space is not exaggerated. It is as spacious as is looks. The one problem I did have was the instructions were not in the box. Even without the instructions, I was able to put it together in about 30 minutes and I am almost 8 months pregnant! I can't wait to use it and I would recommend it to everyone!!!

This is my 3rd baby but first pack n play. I reasearched extensively before purchasing. Although my son isn't due for another 10 weeks, I love it so far. It was easy to put together. It has PLENTY of storage space for all baby's needs. And I love having a changer, newborn napper, & basinet with portability so it can be right beside my bed or in the kitchen while I cook. I'm very excited to use it when my son arrives!

Classic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser

Classic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy DiffuserI've been interested in essential oils for years. I think we have about a dozen different types of diffusers stashed away around the house. I've disliked them all. They're noisy and w/i a few days get gunky and clogged.

I LOVE this one. So easy to use. Quiet. No glass and tubing everywhere. I've been switching oils right and left and all I have to do is dump out the little water that's left, wipe it out with a clothe, and I'm good to go.

I plan on getting a 2nd one for my work office!

I purchased this diffuser, not through Amazon.com, just a few days ago. It's an adequate diffuser for a small to medium sized area. It's attractive and quiet. I especially like the automatic shut off when the water level gets low, however, I would NEVER run this all night or any other time when it would be unsupervised.

My only problem with it is the cord. I don't see why they couldn't put a real electric cord on it. It has an "adapter" which is very large (2"x3"), awkward, heavy and gets hot as a pistol, so that is worrisome to me. The other end, that fits into the diffuser, is one of those single prong things like for gadgets that go into a computer.

All in all, it cost about 3 to 4 times what I would think it's worth, but most things are way too expensive for what we get these days.

Since I haven't had this very long, I can only hope it will hold up.

Update:

After using this twice, for several hours each time, I decided to clean it. I made the mistake of leaving it set, with the little leftover water/oil overnight. I found the oils had left a distinct ring around the water level in the bowl and it was very hard to clean off. I used vinegar on a paper towel (a soft cloth would work as well) and I had to do a lot of rubbing to get it clean. The clear plastic lid also has spots, apparently oil, that I've not been able to clean off. The little flat piece that they call the "umbrella cover" comes off if you just pull straight up on it, so it's easier to clean.

It would be nice if it had better instructions. The booklet says "occasional cleaning will be required" and also "clean the unit after every use with a soft cotton cloth."

So I've learned the hard way; clean it IMMEDIATELY after it's turned off and EVERY TIME I use it. Do not let it set because the oil residue will harden.

I REALLY don't like the adapter! I make sure it's unplugged after I turn the diffuser off.

A wonderful diffuser. Works well and beautifully. I will buy 3 more. Efficient use of oils, just 3 -5 drops.

Cuts off when near end of water. Great price for the functionality. Very pleased with this product. It is prettier than the picture. Don't need the cap they supply for the center opening, was very nice they sent a small vile of Lavender EE oil, Which is the best, next to PURE JASMINE. Pure Jasmine is expensive, best use other aromas, like the diluted Jasmine, and what ever aromas you like.

This diffuser is amazing! It takes just 3-5 drops of EO to diffuse over many hours. It has a timer (I use the 40 seconds off, 15 seconds on setting), intensity control, power button, and a light control also. I love it!

Want Classic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser Discount?

It was very easy to setup which I appreciated. I was excited to get it up and running and was pleased that it took very little effort. It's quiet and unobtrusive. I decided to keep the blue light off, but can understand why someone would want to use it. I haven't had it long so I can't speak to its durability, but it appears to be a solid unit for someone just getting started with diffusers. I purchased Eden's Garden Synergy Blends Sampler Pack to accompany my purchase and couldn't be happier.

Mini Digital Thermometer Hygrometer Temperature Humidity Gauge

Mini Digital Thermometer Hygrometer Temperature Humidity GaugeI callibrated the Mini Digital Thermometer Hygrometer Temperature Humidity gauge with the Bovida One Step callibration kit 75% pak and compared it with several other humidity gauges,...including the analog hygrometer by Western Humidors, the Zilla Humidity and Temperature gauge, and the AcuRite Indoor humidity moniter. The Zilla was about 25% too low and didn't even register on the scale in about 20% humidity. The most accurate gauge was the Mini Digital Thermometer hygrometer.

My intent was to measure the humidity level in my acoustic guitar cases with a good hygrometer. The Zilla gauge failed miserably. It may be ok for reptile environments,...but I would certainly not recommend it for guitars or anything else.

Instead,..I would recommend the Mini Digital Thermometer Hygrometer by CT Power Tools.

Shows time infinite (does not automatically reset) temperature and humidity highs and lows with the push of a button. The manual reset feature is preferable to me the high and low readings for any length of time can be recalled until you push the Reset button how else would you tell how high or low the temperature was over a weeks time or longer for example you don't have to catch the readings before it resets as in an auto reset type. Compact too.

Liked it so much I bought a second one and it's just as accurate as the first when compared to a more expensive gauge.

I'm very pleased with this device. After much reading of the reviews, I just ordered the least expensive and most simple looking device of it's type, since I figure none of these are exactly accurate. It does what I need. I compare it to Weather Channel measures of temperature and humidity, and this little thing provides almost the same measures. Considering the 1 by 2 inch size of the device, that is pretty impressive. I'm happy I went with this one, and would recommend it to anyone who just wants a small, simple device that gives a rough measurement of temperature and humidity, within a few degrees of more costly and complicated equipment. It couldn't be easier to use either. You don't need to mess with salt tests or anything. Works right out of the box without even needing to read instructions. Simply the best for price and casual use.

I bought this and the Quality Importers HygroSet II Round Digital Hygrometer, both from Amazon. The latter costs less, worked better out of the box, and has a knob that can be twisted to recalibrate the humidity reading. That means that when I set both hygrometers in for the saturated salt test, and the Mini Dig Therm Hygrom reads a full 8 degrees too high, I am stuck with a way-off hygrometer. Of course, I can stick a piece of paper next to it, reminding me to always subtract the 8. The Quality Importers one, for $2 less, didn't read at 75 either, but twist the knob and presto! now it does!

However, the Quality Imp. doesn't come with the min/max capture. Rats!

By the way, the salt test is described on Youtube. You don't need a calibration kit unless you can't round up the following: baggy, bottle cap, salt, water.

I just received my guage and tested the hygrometer using the salt method. It read perfectly accurate. I will be ordering another one of these! It's small, which is great since I use it for hatching chicken eggs.

Benton Glass Top Cherry Humidor

Benton Glass Top Cherry HumidorI bought this product for my husband. I couldn't wait for it to arrive. Unfortunately when it did, I was extremely disappointed. The item pictured has the humidity gauge on the inside, which is preferred for accuracy, but the item I received has the gauge on the outside. Since it still appeared to be a quality item I gave it to him despite my disappointment. Of course he loves it, but he did have some trouble getting the humidity up and he actually had to take it to a cigar shop to have the gauge calibrated.

Sunpentown SF-609 Evaporative Air Cooler with Ionizer

SPT SF-609 Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with IonizerI hate weeding through the reviews for evaporative coolers because it seems like the majority of bad reviews are from people who have no clue what they are and what they are supposed to do, a few are from people who can't follow basic instructions, and there are only a handful of legitimate negative reviews that are usually due to defective issues.

I live in Denver, CO. It's dry here and it's the perfect climate for evaporative coolers. I've had whole-house swamp coolers in previous homes I've lived and know many friends with them. In my home, I have no option for a portable or window A/C air conditioner as I spend most of my time in our finished basement and there's not a good option for exhaust. Last summer we got quotes for central A/C but it's a lot more money than I want to spend and I also don't want the electricity bill that goes along with it. We have a whole house fan (not to be confused with an attic fan) that we run in early morning before it reaches 70 degrees and that we run again at night, usually after 9pm, or whenever it gets cool enough outside. Sometimes with an afternoon rain shower we turn it on sooner.

I bought the evaporative cooler to supplement the whole house fan on those reallllly hot days and/or for the middle of the day when we we're not running it due to it being hotter outside than it is inside. The house fan cools the ground floor much better than our basement due to the lack of air flow from our basement windows because of the window well covers we have. Also, this summer I'm pregnant with a due date of August 15th and that doesn't help my comfort situation. Basically, an evaporative cooler is exactly what I wanted and what fit our situation.

Think of it as a fan on steroids. Cold air DOES come out of it. Today it is 88 degrees outside and humidity is 16%... a typical Colorado summer day. I have the cooler about 3 feet away from me and 8 feet away from my husband. I have it on high and I'm actually getting cold. I have it on the "swing" setting otherwise I would probably turn it down. It doesn't guzzle through water too quickly and filling it once a day is enough since I'm not running it 24/7. I use a gallon pitcher to fill it up faster since it holds 10 liters (2.5 gallons). I have an automatic ice maker in my fridge so I don't have any issues running out of ice. I can't think of any features it's missing. It's not too loud even on high it's like a normal fan. There's no smell at all but I do actually change the water frequently and follow the cleaning instructions. Trust me on the smell thing, I can smell anything from very far away ever since I've been pregnant. You can wash the air filter on the back but DO NOT USE WATER to clean the wick. It is meant to be placed in direct sunlight to clean. I think that is why some other people had issues with smell or mold. Follow the directions, please. It has a remote, timers, sleep modes, swing function (just the fan blades inside swing, not the entire unit), warning beeps and visual indicators when it runs low on water (nice feature to avoid burning out the water pump), and an extra place to put ice on top in addition to putting ice in the water tank. You can adjust the blades on the front to direct the air flow whichever way you need to vertically. It also has an ionizer and you can run it as just a fan if you'd like, so no need for a second unit just to get some air circulating.

All in all... this thing does exactly what it says it will do. It's exactly what I wanted. It came assembled, which was a big bonus. It's only 17 lbs and has built in handles on the sides so I can actually carry it upstairs by myself if it's empty, even being super pregnant. It's on wheels to make it easier to push around when I don't have to take it to another floor. It was less than half what other similar units cost for the same tank size and air output.

I've only has this thing for a week. I will be sure to update my review once I've had it for awhile.

UPDATE 6/24 I've found that when I run this thing on high for 8-10 hours per day, we do need to fill it every day or every other day at the very least (depending on if I fill it to the max level... usually I just add 1 gallon when I fill it). However, when I'm running it on medium or low and not using it as much (more like 5-6 hours per day), it can last about a week without needing a refill. I typically don't bother putting ice in anymore unless it's a day with over 95 degree temperatures and I want extra cold air. The only thing I wish it had was an easy way to drain it in case I want to move it upstairs when it's not empty. However, I don't think any model I looked at had this feature (or at least it wasn't mentioned). It has NEVER made the room feel muggy even with no open windows and honestly I don't feel any difference in the humidity in the room. Almost every day it's been less than 20% humidity outside, and I've never seen it get over 30% outside. I'm still happy with this purchase and stand by my 5 stars. I'm glad I got this instead of spending much more on a similar unit.

UPDATE 6/25/2012 We didn't use this thing at all once it got cool out last fall. We drained it (easy to do while not pregnant) and put it in our basement storage closet. When we brought it back out a couple weeks ago, I vacuumed the screen on the back, filled it with water and drained it again to rinse it out. No musty smell or anything and it works just as well as last year. The room we normally are using this in stays pretty cool compared to the rest of the house, so now we're purchasing a wall-unit swamp cooler that is 5500 CFMs, hoping it will keep the entire house cool. The only thing I don't like about this cooler is that it's too short to feel it when laying in bed. You can tilt the blades up and down to direct airflow vertically, but it's not enough for a king size bed that's on a frame and box spring. For those of you wondering the electricity cost is negligible. I don't see any difference in our electricity consumption when we are using it every day compared to when we aren't. However, my husband and I work work full time so we don't use it as much as someone that doesn't work or works from home. I'm still happy with this purchase and thing it's a great portable swamp cooler for the price!

Also, here's a chart that shows evaporative cooler effectiveness based off outside temperature and humidity. I will also post it to the pictures.

I live in California in the Bay Area. Not much humidity and the weather is typically pretty mild but it does get pretty hot in the summer (90+ degrees). I received the unit on a particularly hot day recently and I ran out and grabbed a bag of ice because i wanted to test this things cooling capability. I set it up next to my computer desk and turned on the cool air function. I was sitting about 5 feet from it and in 5 minutes my arm was freezing cold. I was perfectly comfortable the whole day but if i moved from the fan at all the heat was unbearable. This thing does not cool a room but it will cool the area directly in front of it. Once it cooled down a bit I emptied the water (which was made very easy due to the lightness of the unit) into my bathroom sink and used it that night as a normal fan. Its pretty quiet and the fan is powerful. Ive heard these swamp coolers can generate a musty smell so I make sure to empty it of water when I'm done using the cool air function. I only fill it with water when its extremely hot because the fan works fine for me most days. It's a very nice unit and it's exactly what I was looking for. Better than a fan and more efficient that an air conditioner.

Buy Sunpentown SF-609 Evaporative Air Cooler with Ionizer Now

This unit is design for about a 12 X 12 foot room and can help a hot day be livable. Being able to add ice into the water trough and an ice pack into the top can lower the temperature 5-10 degrees (F). The only minor draw back is it increases humidity, my doctor would not call it a negative, which on an extremely hot day can make you feel sticky. This unit is really good in desert/low humidity geographic areas.

Read Best Reviews of Sunpentown SF-609 Evaporative Air Cooler with Ionizer Here

To be fair, the product does not claim to be an air conditioner. However, it does claim to cool 12 degrees cooler, which I didn't find at all. I live in a dry Colorado climate, and still it is barely cooler than a fan. You have to fill it with tons of ice to even get that, and it requires refilling with water and ice often. If you don't clean it at least once a week, it starts smelling really bad.

All this effort of refilling and cleaning is not worth the 3 to 5 degrees cooler you get. For that, I'd rather just plug in a fan and not have to worry about it every day. Save your money and buy a portable air conditioner. It's worth the extra investment, trust me.

My wife and I currently live in one of the hottest, driest places in the U.S. -Las Vegas, NV. Our apartment is mostly shaded and facing away from the direct sun, except for... the HOT room. Our office. "The hot room" faces the south-west side and gets beaten by the direct sun. This little unit is PERFECT for that room. It does a great job of turning the hot room (which is also the room we are in the most) into just another room in the apartment. Now I don't rely on this unit alone to single-handedly take on all 110 degree of Las Vegas heat, but I don't expect it to. It simply does what is intended. It brings the temperature down 10-15 degrees in the room that is generally 10-15 warmer than the rest of the apartment.

So, if you live in a region with hot DRY weather (most of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico), these can supplement your AC, put some moisture in the air and take a nice chunk out of your monthly Air Conditioning bill.

If you live on the East coast, the southern states, the Midwest or any place HUMID, DON'T BUY THIS. It wont do a thing and will probably just make the muggy, oppressive heat WORSE. You've been warned... I lived in Miami for 5 years and understand that 90 degrees in Florida is WORSE than 110 degrees in Las Vegas. This is because of the HUMIDITY, not the HEAT. You don't see "swamp coolers" in Florida because they just add humidity to the air, and that would just make matters worse.

For those who may still be a little puzzled by these and seem to think they're some kind of portable air conditioner... they're not. This is a smaller, updated version of the traditional "swamp cooler" that has been in use on the U.S. west coast & southwest for decades. These work great... IN DRY CLIMATES ONLY!

As a kid growing up in central California, the "swamp cooler" was our ONLY way of keeping cool during the hot, dry summers. Back then, everyone had the BIG, dish washer sized swamp coolers on their roofs or hanging out of their windows. Many people still use them to this day. So how exactly does this mini "swamp cooler" work?

Put a fan in a box. Have some little screens (cooler pads) built into the sides of the box. Pump water over the screens. When the fan blows through the wet pads, it creates a nice, cool breeze. Now, Instead of raking out big money to constantly keep the central AC blasting away, this will use the same amount of energy that a regular house fan uses... a mere 60 watts! That's about 1/5 of what an AC of the same size would use! If you have one of these running in the room were you spend most of your time... and turn the thermostat UP in the rooms that aren't being used, you can save yourself some serious money.

There are quite a few features on this version that I think are great. Remote control, timer, "swing" (shifts the air in the same manor that an oscillating fan does), as well as an emergency "BEEP!" that sounds when the water level is low. The sf-609 also has an ION air purifier feature (I honestly don't notice it one way or another). After checking out the manufacture's website, I believe the only difference between the SF-608 & SF-609 is that the 608 doesn't have the ION gizmo.

The added ice tray on top really is kind of nice too and helps to feed melted ice water over the pads. This will bring the temp down another few degrees, and every little bit helps. Having an automatic ice maker in your fridge will help keep the top tray fed. If you don't have one though, you can away make ice the old fashioned way with empty drink containers. Adding ice really isn't essential though, but it does help a little and can get you closer to AC-like coolness. Another trick I use is to put 2-1 gallon water jugs in the fridge and use them to keep my water nice and frosty.

About the only thing I don't like about this unit so far is that it's a little "plasticy" & seems kind of cheaply made. For $100, they could have made it a little more sturdy. But then, that's how it goes these days... It's pretty much (or in this case COMPLETELY) impossible to find products that are built to last. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

At any rate though, I'm happy with this purchase. I would recommend this to anyone in a dry climate who spends a lot of time in a small to medium sized bedroom.

Stay cool ;)

Jarden Consumer Heater SUL496-UM Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier, 0.65-Gallon

Jarden Consumer Heater SUL496-UM Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier, 0.65-GallonWith this humidifier I do not have that worry that I had with so many before when I would leave it on when going to sleep. This one seems to automatically turn itself off with not problem to the system itself, quite a relief. Also, filling it up is pretty easy. I pull out the top part/bucket, flip it upside down, open it up, fill it up. Although, I could see somebody who doesn't own a bathtub having difficulties fitting this into the sink. If this was true, then you would just have to fill it up like most other humidifiers by taking water to it and filling it.

There was a complaint about the direction in another review. Yes, it does shoot the moisture straight up into the air. But if your room has a fan (mine is a ceiling) going then this shouldn't be a problem. Do be careful not to leave it at full speed in a closed room for extended periods without a fan. I have done this a few times when leaving for work and noticed that there was some dampness surrounding it when I got home. Nothing severe, it evaporated within a few minutes of me turning the machine off.

I am very, very thankful for this humidifier. Especially since it doesn't use filters so mold isn't a very big issue. With this one I will wipe it out every month or so, no big deal.

I like the humidity output, it works great. It's not the quitest humidifier I've owned. I currently have two of these, and the problem I'm experiencing with both, is that some black residue builds up in the reservoir. I have poured some vinegar in the tank each time I fill it but it doesn't do the trick. any ideas out there? (HELP PLEASE)

Purchased this unit for the baby's room. Water vapor output is very good, strong and visible, especially when turned on High. The only problem is that the vapor settles around the unit so you will have a wet floor/carpet surrounding the unit IF you have it set on High. At mid-setting, very little to no moisture on floor and vapor output is still decent. Just be aware of this, I definitely would not place it on a table because of this. Good unit, would still recommend.

I purchased this unit at Walmart (Ohio) for $42.oo. I also bought a bag of tablets to put in the tank, and they cost $3 and will last atleast a couple months I am sure. I love how quiet this tank is and the unit itself is very beautiful, not bulky like some of the machines that just look like a big medical machine. I really like the sleek look of this one. It says it is for a medium room and I think that is accurate. I put this in my livingroom during the day, which is large, and it's not quite enough to eliminate static 100%. I do notice my nose doesn't burn anymore and there is no static in my (or families) hair anymore, but I did get shocked /w static electricity when I went to change settings on my ceiling fan today, lol. My fault because it says medium roon, not large (or extra large). At night, I carry this into my bedroom and the room is small and this is more than enough misting and I am hoping that my scalp will not be so itchy in time. That and static and burning nose are main reasons I bought it. I love that I can SEE alot of mist coming from this! If I can't see it, I never think they work. I'm optimistic about this unit and I just purchased it recently. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING with all cool mist humidifiers is DO NOT BE LAZY when it comes to reading the maintenence requirements. As far as I know, this one only requires a good emptying every other day, and wipe it dry as best you can, and ONCE A WEEK, soak the inner tank with a mild bleach and water mix. I think this part is very important in eliminating the potential for bacteria. Overall, i give this unit 4 stars, as a new user. The only con so far would be the one others have mentioned about not having a directional nozzle to point air. 75% of the time, I would probably have it pointing straight up into the air anyways. Good buy!

#3 had a defect as well. The indicated room temp stayed at 32 degrees no matter what the actual room temp. I tried blowing warm air over the sensing unit but it stayed at 32. I think I'll live with it because the reviews on the other humidifiers are not very good. At least this one does not leak and performs well.

On 5-15 the third one failed. These things are junk.

My wife and I moved to Illinois from South Florida in June. Since November I had really noticed how much drier it is in Illinois, especially at night with the heat on full blast. We purchased this humidifier and have been running it for about a week. It has been awesome. If you can deal with having to refill every night before bed, then you'll enjoy this piece of electronics. All dryness that I had to deal with at night before we got this is gone. It's pretty sweet. A night light that changes from green to blue is nice and relaxing. Not overwhelming unless you are a pitch black sleeper. It offers a bunch of settings, has an ionizer and allows you to adjust the humidity. I researched this pretty hard and it seemed like this would be the best bang for the buck and so far it is. For 43 bucks and free shipping you can't beat it. I'll do a follow-up in a few months, but so far so good. It's got my blessing.

I bought this for my husband who dries out at night. We have a whole house Humidifier but this is in the bedroom for added comfort. It works like a charm. Love the adjustable settings for mist. I am so glad I made this purchase. The company was great to, fast to ship.

Who knew humidifiers could be pretty? This one is as much of a decorative addition as it is functional.

It is an excellent humidifier. Though it has not eliminated all the dryness, it has reduced need for liquid tears during the night. The tank holds just a little over 12 hours worth of water, so a 24 hour period requires 2 refills. The weight makes it easy to carry. If it held more water, it would be harder to transport to the water supply. It is also easy to clean, assemble, work, and has a multitude of features.

The most unexpected benefit is the night light. It is a soft light that morphs from turquoise to sapphire blue every few seconds, takes a second to go black, and starts again. It illuminates the water in the tank and it is almost like looking at a softly lit aquarium. It is very peaceful and serene. Also it is very silent and works beautifully.

I liked this machine so much, I bought a second one for another room.
