Buy BestAir HG050 Hygrometer Now
I like it, it does the job. I also bought a digital one because it included the temperature of the room as well, and there is a slight variation between the two, just placed in different ends of the room. But overall, good.I was cheap and bought this hygrometer for $2.99. Don't make the same mistake I did. The accuracy must be at least 10% off. To test the hygrometer, I took it outside, where the weather.com says it is 10% humidity (Arizona). The hygrometer showed 25%. I then purchased an Acu-Rite hygrometer at a local retailer for around $10, and it is much more accurate. The % humidity of the electronic Acu-Rite and Best-Air differ by about 10%. The "BestAir" is cheap for a reason.I bought two of these and they didn't calibrate equally; one was reading a higher level than the other. They both did respond to humidity changes though. They have no calibration mechanism, so you just have to take a leap of faith that they are working and are close enough. If you just need one for the room to check occasionally then these should do the trick. We have a humidifier in our room for our baby, so we wanted to just keep an eye on the humidity level and get a basic idea. If you need accuracy, I would look for another product.Tuesday, April 22, 2014
