Swizz Style F-007 Fred Humidifier, Red

The company sent the humidifier very quickly and in good condition. It is a funny looking thing. Reminds me of a red spaceship. It will get noticed in your home by friends. It's so different looking then the standard humidifier.

This works like a teakettle blowing a medium or low amount of steam depending on the setting you choose. It is very quiet. During the day with TV volume and conversation you can't hear anything. At night when it's quit you can hear the water boiling but it is not loud enough to be annoying. Best there are no extra filters needed and all it takes is a weekly cleaning to remove the lime buildup.

The unit itself stays cool to the touch during use but the flow of steam is hot right where it comes out so you will need to use caution with very young children. This unit stands very securely; I feel it would take a pretty hard hit to knock it over. Also the water is in a separate container inside.

The instructions do not say the area this humidifier humidifies nor the amount of time it takes to empty the water tank. On low my empties in about 8-10 hours. The electricity used is 200w for low and 300w for high setting. The low setting works well for me. It has auto shut off when the water runs out.

I have this product for about three weeks. It is very easy to add water to. It is also easy to do the weekly cleaning. It does not leak or leave any kind of water stains during use.

One problem with the unit is that it is made out of plastic. The nozzle through which the steam comes out of is plastic painted with silver paint. The paint started to bubble near the top inner part of the nozzle on my humidifier. If the bubbles break it will not look so great. That is why I'm giving this product 4 stars instead of five.

There are almost no reviews on the web about this product. I believe it sells in red, silver, black and a lime color. If you like the unique shape don't be afraid to give it a try.

'Fred' is one of the coolest humidifiers on the market. With it's space-age look, this is not your typical household appliance that you want to hide. Worth the extra money. I prefer warm mist humidifiers because they don't create the white film that the ultrasonic humidifiers leave behind. Unfortunately, my 'Fred' came with a broken leg due to poor packaging by Amazon (tsk-tsk), so I had to return him. (I'm pretty sure it's a 'he.') Love the fact 'he' comes in so many awesome colors too!

I purchased this item a couple of years ago and thought it was great. I was refilling it recently when I found that the top was stuck to the base, upon inspection I could see that both sections had warped, evidently due to excessive heat. Considering I ran the humidifier all winter long and filled it two to three times a day I knew this had happened very suddenly, it had been working perfectly and came apart easily a few hours previously. I believe this could have created a fire hazard had I not discovered it in a timely manner. I sent an email to Stadler Form (the manufacturer) telling them what had happened but heard nothing back from them, apparently they are not interested in complaints. I won't be buying another.

Capri Glass-Top Humidor w/ Front Hygrometer (25-50 Cigars)

Nice little humidor that conditioned properly over a few days and continues to keep nice cigars at near-perfect humidity levels. The front-facing humidity gauge could be higher quality, for sure. I ended up having to return my first humidor and request a replacement due to the gauge being SO far off and refusing to calibrate with a small screw driver. The second unit was much, much better and I haven't had to mess with it since the initial calibration. The 1st and 2nd unit I got were very different humidors. The first had a loose-fitting silver gauge, the 2nd was brass. The box had different physical dimensions too, so make sure if you order that you get what you paid for. The 2nd unit was MUCH nicer than the 1st... the gauge fits, works, and the finish on the exterior is SMOOTH and untextured.

Wood on the inside smells great and the black finish on the exterior looks great and cleans up well after being dusty in the house. The bottom is soft too, so I can set it on other wood things without scratching.

Good humidor at a fantastic price, just make sure you get what you ordered!

This is an affordable starter humidor, but it requires alot of maintenance. The unit doesn't have the best seal and has trouble holding humidity constant for more than a few days...as a result expect to spend some time fiddling with the humidifier and box seal.

It looks good on my desk and easily holds 25 larger cigars and does a good job for short term cigar storage.

The Humidor came with in few days. Outstanding condition for the price. In my case I have a little bit of stain on the inside of the lid, no one can see. Highly recomanded!

This is a good value and good quality humidor. It seals well, sits at 70% humidity consistently and seems to be well made. The hygrometer was easy to calibrate and has retained accuracy when tested. All in all a good value proposition.

Cigar Humidor Humidity Beads - 1/2 lb

Way better than foam or gel. I've just converted to being a cigar oasis fan; but, if you won't make that leap, then these beads are second best.

The beads are the best passive humidification method I have come across. No need for PG solution. They are self regulating, so they will control humidity both under and over the desired level releasing moisture when the humidor starts to dry out and absorbing moisture if it gets too humid (also bad for cigars, causing possible splitting of the wrapper, mold, etc.).

I must confess that I bought mine from Heartfelt Industries because they offer three different levels of humidity beads (60%, 65% & 70%). I got the 65% because the cigars smoke better (for me) without going out as they do at 70%RH. Also, the best way I have found to use them is to pour them into the foot of a women's shear panty hose, cut and tie off the end. You can put that in your humidor without worrying about the beads spilling out. I then replaced the green sponge that came with my humidification unit with the stocking filled with beads.

One word of caution: do not over spray with water this will cause the beads to crack. So less is more...or at least better.

I, of course, didn't follow the instructions with the first set of bead I used, expecting them to act like other beads, you soak them and they grow. They didn't. I read instructions, saying don't soak, spray lightly with water. Yeah, that didn't seem to add any humidity to my humidors either. Maybe there's some happy medium, maybe you just have to have a feel for it. These didn't work for me at all.
