Aprilaire #45 Water Panel Evaporator, 10-Pack

Aprilaire #45 Water Panel Evaporator, 10-PackAbout 10 years ago I replaced the old furnace humdifier with Aprilaire automatic humidifier that doesn't waste water. It is combined with these evaporator panels and is an excellent design. Never has any water gone to waste, and these panels last for as long as they can stand up to the mineral content in your water, because that is the only thing that will ever cause them to be inoperable. If you have high lime and calcium in your water, then these panels will eventually fail, but replacing the media is very easy. A 10-pack is probably a 10 year supply in my experience.

The humidifier allows for manual humidity control or it has an automatic feature that is based upon exterior temperature. I prefer to control mine manually so that I have more granular control over interior humidity. I prefer that so that I can adjust according to how much condensation exists on the interior of windows during winter, and to adjust according to dry eye from wearing contacts. I have no doubt that it works just fine in automatic mode. The manual mode is a nice feature to have for those that prefer more granular control.

Honeywell Replacement Humidifier Filter, HAC-801

Honeywell Replacement Humidifier Filter, HAC-801Couldn't find the pads locally. They came quickly and were the right ones, at a reasonable price.

Nice to find these; they seem to be getting harder to find. I did not have to use them this year as the weather was so mild --but they will keep:)

Buy Honeywell Replacement Humidifier Filter, HAC-801 Now

I've owned my humidifier for years, and I could count on replacing filters 2, maybe 3 times per season. These new filters seem to dry up and calcify (so they won't take up water) much more often. I'm not even through the winter humidifier season and I've had to change them 5 times.

Bottom line, I think whoever is now manufacturing these filters is using some other material. They don't work very well for me

We've had this humidifier for 5 years anyway, and

These filters work great lasting a long Time. Price is right too

These "filters" wick up the water from the tray in which the water tanks sit and into which the tanks release the water. The unit's fan sucks air through these wick-filters and blows the moistened air out the top. So even if you clean the humidifier tanks and tray regularly and well, these "filters" are necessary for the humidifier to function properly. If they are not changed every couple of months they will mould and rot, and you will freak out.

This pad fit my humidifier very well. I will warn you, I was tempted to buy one of the 10x13.5" filters just by visual inspection, so be sure to measure your existing pad before you order (the owners manual does not have any measurements in it because they want you to buy it for a ridiculous price from your HVAC dealer)! I measured the item before ordering it and had no issues. It is about 1/4" larger than what I measured (which is as described), but that is to allow the notches in the filter housing to hold the filter in place. Despite not being mentioned, this is an aluminum pad which should last for about two heating seasons. To replace the pad, just open the door on your humidifier, slide out and dispose of the old one and replace it with the new one. I will update this review if I have any issues. The seller shipped very fast as well. Good experience overall.
