Essick Air E27 000 2-Speed Tabletop Humidifier, White

Essick Air E27 000 2-Speed Tabletop Humidifier, WhiteI bought this to replace a Vicks Humidifier that I was sick of constantly buying expensive, short lasting filters on and it was on its last legs in function.

Very simple design on this. Use in bedroom and seems to humidify well enough. The filter that came with it was a floppy thing, that was very difficult to keep upright when putting the top back on after filling. I came to find out replacement filters have a plastic frame, which solves this issue. The filter otherwise would have lasted the full dry winter season for me. I use the bacteria treatment. That bottle will last a very long time! It is awkward to fill and needs to be filled every other night if run on low or every night if run on high. My biggest problem with this unit is how noisy it is. The fan rattles loudly and I HAVE to run it on low to sleep, even with earplugs in. The rattling comes and goes, but makes me want to get rid of it most nights.

I bought this humidifier because it had advertised its ability to humidify a fairly large space. I only needed it to cover a small area but in a large room. It has not lived up to its claims, as I cannot raise the humidity more than the high teens/low 20's, certainly too low a humidity to be comfortable. I guess the old adage, "You get what you pay for!" rings true with humidifiers as well as most everything else in life.

Swizz Style EMS-164 "Aquila" Ultrasonic Humidifier

Swizz Style EMS-164 'Aquila' Ultrasonic HumidifierThe humidifier works really well and produces great vapor with a good quality mineral filter and ionic silver to inhibit bacterial growth. For function alone, I would give this 5 starts. But I gave it two stars because of the obnoxious, ultra-bright internal LED lights that cannot be turned off. The lights are so bright that it lights up the entire room at night. It's not an ambient glow, it's BRIGHT. I received this as a gift for my son's nursery, and the only way I can use it is to rig pen caps as "covers" for the LED lights (I can't use tape because they're located IN the water reservoir) and then wrap the tank in black fabric. Even then, it still puts off a glow that's about equivalent to a bright night light. It's such a pain in the neck to get this thing set up with the pen caps and the fabric that I avoid using it. This would be a great product if not for the internal lights. What a horrible design flaw.

I knew from other reviews that this humidifier had lights that you cannot turn off when it is functioning. This is 100 percent true. The blue LEDs are beneath the tank and while you can dim them, you cannot turn the lights off while the unit is functioning. This is a drawback, but shouldn't completely discourage you. The light is not that bright when dimmed and I agree with another reviewer that it is no more disruptive than a fishtank light.

There are TWO really AWESOME things about this humidifier that are unique and great. I own two other brands, so I know what I'm talking about.

1. The humidity comes out like a 'smoke' and not wet. Everyone who has seen this operate has commented on how they want one like this with the super fine 'smoke' and not just misting wet air and ruining everything within a few feet. This really does look like it's smoking rather than misting and surfaces within its proximity do not get wet. It doesn't have a fan to push the humidity in a certain direction, but it does have the ability to aim the nozzle on the top to different directions. The humidity 'smoke' will be going straight up though and you will see it sink and roll across the surface, just like smoke. It's actually rather cool to watch.

2. The footprint of this is so small. I am renting an apt while my home is being renovated and my apt is really small. It's so great that this takes up no more space on the counter than a ballet slipper. My other humidifiers take a lot of counter space, so this being so small is a big plus. The downside is that you will have to refill the tank if you intend to run it all day. It doesn't hold as much water as my other units.

One concern I have is with the calcium/anti-bac filter in the middle of the tank. We had a few warm days, so I emptied everything to let it dry out and the calc/anti-bac filter never did dry out and when you'd shake it, it clearly still had water in it. It has some sort of microbeads in it and is impossible to dry out. I just put it all back together and refilled the tank because it turned cold again. I question where you can buy a replacement for this filter, since it is obviously meant to be thrown away after a couple months use and there's no way to dry it out. Doesn't look like Amazon carries the filters yet. If someone knows how I can obtain more filters, please let me know.

All-in all, this is a cool little unit and raised the humidity in my 600sq ft apt without problems. Just don't expect much if you are using this in a large house. You'll need to close it off in a room for the best effectiveness.

We typically use humidifiers for our two daughters this time of year, and this "Aquila" Ultrasonic Humidifier arrived just a day or two after three out of four members of the family were diagnosed with sinus infections. This was perfectly easy to set up right out of the box. Literally taking it from my porch to pressing the on button took, at most, seven or eight minutes. This is a compact, well-made unit that really packs a punch. It works better than the humidifier we had been using, despite only being half its size.

Alas, there is a drawback and it borders on being significant. As another reviewer pointed out, the blue glow produced by this tiny device can be quite powerful and distracting in a dark room. I read through the instructions carefully, and even though the booklet gave the impression that the LED light could be dimmed or turned off completely, I found only three settings total regular, dim light, and off. Indeed, there is no option to completely turn off the light and still use this unit. The "dim" setting is slightly less irritating but does not make a huge difference.

So, will I stop using it because of the light? No. No one had any real difficulty falling asleep. The light is comparable to a fish tank or small reading lamp. Just be aware before you make your purchase that this unit will light up and stay lit as long as the humidifier is working.

This little humidifier accomplishes a lot in a little footprint. It won't humidify a huge room, but it's perfect for on a bedside stand, on a chairside stand in a living room or family room, or on a desk in a larger office, to keep those in the immediate vicinity comfortable. It's easy to fill and keep clean, and runs quietly. It's the ticket for dry winter months inside, and it's just stylish enough, without calling attention to itself.

The Swizz Style humidifier looks great and has many good design points. It's thin enough to stand on my windowsill. I think $80 is far too much to pay for a humidifier; even one with features as this one.

It consumes about 1 gallon (1 tankful) per day. There is no option to adjust the (light) rate of mist production --which is fine for me. The various blue LED lights (on the AC adapter, next to the on/off switch, and under the water tank) are too bright to sleep with, so I have covered them with black electrical tape.

Since the tank capacity is only one gallon, it doesn't get too heavy or unwieldy to bring from the faucet. Like other humidifiers where the mist stack goes through the water tank, there will be a few drops of condensation clinging to the stack that will fall out as you bring the tank to be filled; but it's not as bad as the Crane drop-shaped humidifiers that will essentially drip on the entire path.

I like the idea of the filter and the ionic silver; however, after two months of use, the reddish-brown algae or mildew that comes out of my faucets has taken up residence in this machine. (Better than the one month it took for the Crane.) This is easier to clean than the Crane drop-shaped humidifier: the vent at the top of the mist stack pops out, providing access to clean the inside surfaces.

I like that the LEDs turn red when the tank needs to be refilled. Simply refilling the tank won't resume mist production, though --you need to press the on/off button for the machine to reset.

Jarden Consumer-Domestic 2Pkrepl Humidifier Wick Sw2002 Humidifier Chemical & Accessories

Jarden Consumer-Domestic 2Pkrepl Humidifier Wick Sw2002 Humidifier Chemical & AccessoriesIf you want to save some money simply take out the filters and soak them in white vinegar and some hot water for about 15 minutes (or longer if very dirty). You will hear some fizzing from the chemical reaction (like if you put vinegar and baking soda together). Then...presto! It was clean like new!

You don't need it. I bought a Sunbeam SCM2401 table top humidifier at a local store. It worked fine for 3 days, then the little filter meter became pinned at the "Change" side, showing that the filter wick was dirty, and the humidity in my room was only 20%. Sure enough, the wick was totally dry, and there was a line of rust at the water line. So I washed the wick under running water, and scrubbed it with a brush. That restored it for only a few hours. OK, so I'll just buy a replacement wick. What?!! $6 and up? For a piece of cotton? The whole humidifier only cost $18! I lived in my dry apartment for several days, and then had an idea: Paper towels are very absorbent. What if I took 2 squares of paper towel and folded them around the old wick, like a U-shaped sandwich, so that the paper towel dipped under the water level and up the sides? This worked, and has kept working for 4 days now. The paper towel AND the wick now stay completely soaked, the little meter is happily in the "Good" zone, and my room humidity is a comfortable 38% (it's winter, and the humidifier is on MAX). When the paper towel gets rusty, I can just replace it for a few cents. Cheap, convenient, and "green"!

I believe in giving fair reviews, so I'll be nice and give it a 2 star.

A friend of mine purchased us a Jarden SCM2412-UM Humidifier and the filters do not last long. I purchased this to replace the old filters and the quality of these pretty much just suck. They look bad in only a few days, but will last around 2-3 months before they almost completely fall apart. I would not buy these filters again nor the Jarden SCM2412-UM Humidifier. It is very hard to keep it clean. Try and find a humidifier that does not use a filter and if it does make sure it is not paper. This filter is as thick as a few paper towels, seriously...

Cigar Oasis Ultra Electric Humidifier

Cigar Oasis Ultra Electric HumidifierAll I have to say about this is it was a great buy. When it needs water it beeps. My cigars stay fresh.

This item has never worked properly ever since I had it. It will only work on the battery pack, and the transformer decided to blow up after plugging it in.

Despite calibrating the unit it will work for about 2 days, the humidity slowly dropping, until you have to open the humidor and restart the thing. A waste of time and money.

I do not recommend.

Ben

Hunter 30793 PermaLife Large Room Air Purifier with Permanent Filter

Hunter 30793 PermaLife Large Room Air Purifier with Permanent FilterAfter doing a lot of research online for a good air purifier that was reasonable in price for a large room I decided to purchase this one. I have it now for 1 week and I love it! Within the first hour of plugging it in you feel the difference in the room and the air is very fresh. I have a large 750 sq. foot room that I keep the air purifier in and even on the other side of the room you can feel the air circulating. I'm very happy with this product!

We live in West Texas, where blowing dust is a part of life for much of the year. Our bedroom was the worst room in the house in this regard, and could realistically be dusted every three days or so. And that's not being picky, that's looking at the furniture and seeing a visible layer of dust. We set up this purifier, dusted our room, and after about a full MONTH started to notice dust gathering on furniture. The pre-filter was pretty dirty, so I'm not sure if we just let it get overloaded or if that'll be the normal length of time that it takes to gather dust.

We run it on high during the day and low at night. I don't have other purifiers to compare it to, but during the day the sound of it is pretty apparent, like running a table fan. At night we can hear it as well, but it's not too loud for us by any stretch; it sounds more like a static noise machine designed to help drown out noise to help you sleep. We have two small kids, and are still more than able to hear them calling out for us in the middle of the night. :)

Our bedroom is about 270 sq. feet, so we had to use a bigger purifier than many of the residential quality ones on here are rated for. We didn't want to break the bank, and would prefer not to pay $50 for a replacement filter in a few months. With it's permanent filter (and affordable replaceable pre-filters) this one has fit the bill!

I HAVE A 1860'S HOME AND 4 DOGS. FOR SOME REASON THE DUST IN THIS HOUSE IS OVERWHELMING. I WAS ABLE TO SEE THE DUST AND AIR PARTICLES IN THE RAYS OF SUN COMING IN THE WINDOW. PLUS I HAD TO DUST ALMOST EVERY OTHER DAY. THE AMOUT OF DUST THAT COLLECTED WAS INSANE. I DECIDED TO PURCHASE THIS AIR PURIFIER, AND LIKE MAGIC THE DUST IS GONE, AND THE NEED TO DUST IS MINIMAL. THIS PRODUCT IS OUTSTANDING..QUIET..VERY LITTLE MAINTANENCE. THE BEST PART IS YOU CAN ACTUALLY SMELL THE CLEAN FRESH AIR WHEN YOU WALK INTO THE ROOM. IT'S CONSTANTLY CHANGING THE AIR.

I RUN IT 24/7 AND MY HOME HAS NEVER SMELT OR LOOKED BETTER. JUST THINK OF ALL THOSE IMPURITIES WE WERE BRETHING IN.

I BUYING ANOTHER FOR THE UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS.

I love Hunter. I have owned almost all other brands and Hunter is simply the best. This is my second one with a permanent filter. I have three dogs, live on a dirt road and have severe allergies/asthma. These do the trick for me. I highly recommend.

I moved to Las Vegas, NV and the heat & dust here has caused health problems for not only myself, but my pets. I have 2 dogs & 2 birds. I developed on going nasal drips & hard nasal crusts (sorry, don't know how else to describe it) along with dry or productive coughing. No cold diagnosed. I have been off of the inhaler for years before moving here from California. My dogs has developed what the Vet calls "Inverting Sneezing" were they have boughts of snorting like a pig which can last several minutes @ a time tiring them out. And the Bird's were scratching as if they had fleas & dander the size of snowflakes. I had a humidifier & hepa filter but this machine really helped with the dust & impurities. I do have to change the filter sooner than instructed. I'm sure it's because it's doing it's job, & doing it well! It also keeps my home cooler during the summer desert heat while saving me a few pennies since I dont need my AC on Blast setting anymore! Money well spent!
