pureguardian FLTDC Humidifier Decalcification Filter for H1500, H1600, H2000, H2500, H3000, H3010,
It was easy to install, but does not to prevent white dust at all!!!I own a pureguardian™Ultraonic Humidifier H4500. I was using tap water and noticed an accumulation of white dust on many plastic surfaces around the house including the dvds inside the player. I switched to distilled water and the problem went away. I ordered this decalcification filter in hopes that I would save money from buying distilled water. I installed the filter as resumed the use of tap water and the white dust problem came back just as before. I am returning the filter as is does not work at all.
I have found that the "Water Filling" machine at my local wal mart uses reverse osmosis which works great in the humidifier as it does not produce any white dust, and the price per gallon is extremely reasonable.

The filter fit fine, Directions on the box were relatively easy to follow. The wick was a bit tricky to align, but it is molded, so when it is in correctly, you will know it.Want Skuttle A04-1725-052 Replacment Media, Filter, with Wick for 2000,2100 Discount?

SPT ION F-4010 Exchange Replacement Filter for SU-4010 Humidifier
BTW, I gave it 4 of 5 stars only because, although I feel the humidifier works as I expect it to, I feel it's over-priced and I'd much prefer that the filter be redesigned to reduce waste, perhaps by making the plastic casing reusable.

I have lived in Chicago for many years, then moved to Colorado 28 yrs. ago. Went from humidity to ZERO humidity. Lots of sinus and resp. problems from the dryness. Ran humidifiers here but too much white dust if ultrasonic. I tried the distilled water which was great and cut down on the dust, but it was really expensive even at $1/bottle if you are using it 4 times a day etc. So bought this filter and I can use tap water right from the sink and no white dust. GREAT!! Our water is so hard here, the humidifiers are put to the test. But I am happy with this. I also use those small mineral balls you throw inside the tank to keep the algae and mold from forming. Every morning, after running all night, I open everything up, air dry it and let it sit open till night time for more humidity. Then clean everything once a week at least with antibacterial soap and weak bleach.Read Best Reviews of SPT ION F-4010 Exchange Replacement Filter for SU-4010 Humidifier Here
This fits my SPT SU-4010 Ultrasonic Dual-Mist Warm/Cool Humidifier with Ion Exchange Filteras it supposed to, but lasts for only a couple weeks. Maybe this is all that is to be expected with Chicago water, but I'm constantly cleaning slime and deposits from the inside of the humidifier base and mist path, sometimes only a week after replacing with a new filter... However, I don't know of any alternative in terms of an ion exchange filter replacement.Want SPT ION F-4010 Exchange Replacement Filter for SU-4010 Humidifier Discount?
I ordered this filter directly from Amazon. The filter I received is octagonal shaped, as shown above, but it replaced the round filter for my Sunpentown SU-4010 humidifier and works just fine.Friday, November 15, 2013
Paradigm PSH 6 Humidifier 250 Cigars
And the Paradigms don't wear out easily. Every one I've ever used has lasted at least four full years of wet-dry-wet-dry-wet, etc use before the water storage medium starts to take on less water. When this happens, I do eventually replace the unit with another Paradigm. The storage media inside each unit is remarkable. It absorbs distilled water in large amounts in winter for discharge into the humidor, while it also absorbs excess moisture from the environment inside the humidor to help avoid over-humidification and the mold and beetle problems that come with too much moisture.
In terms of use and maintenance, the Paradigm is simple. I use an empty ice bucket to hold my Paradigms vertically to ensure maximum soaking of the medium, and I squeeze as many Paradigm units as possible into the bucket, before filling it to the brim with clean distilled water. That way, thanks to Archimedes' Principle, I can use less water to fill the bucket to the top and cover the slots with water. Then, after ten minutes, or when the bubbles stop, I take them out, blot them dry, and deploy them in my cabinets. Despite their increased water weight, the included magnets keep a firm but movable grip on the units while strong sticky material (odorless, of course) grips the top of the shelf, so the Paradigm can hang over my cigars and provide maximum coverage. The magnets and stickers included with the floral foam or bead cartridges are a joke; they are not strong enough to hold a charged cartridge and, even if they were, the foam/bead media would leak all over the cigars because the foam and beads don't absorb every drop that goes into the cartridge. When necessary, I use these cheaper things as "bowls" of distilled water on the floor of the shelf or on top of a cigar box. In that configuration, gravity does not help percolate the moisture through the cabinet, as it does with the Paradigms. The Paradigms can't drip because the water-holding media is stronger and because the only openings are side-slits, so gravity does not pull down dripping water from the reservoir. It's a simple, durable and effective design.
With Paradigm, I have been able to age some cigars more than a decade, and they feel as fresh and spongy as the day I bought them. In fact, friends without working humidors frequently bring me cigars that were stored in the box (with no humidification) or, even worse, the refrigerator or freezer. If the cigars have not cracked or suffered severe damage, my Paradigm systems can bring them back, but it is a slow process.
I rarely have had any problems with any Paradigm products, but I have gone though a lot of them over the years, and there was one occasion where a new large Paradigm wasn't holding water well. The manufacturer sent me a new one immediateky, as well as extra magnets and an additional small unit. I trust my prized cigars to Paradigm, the best product of its kind on the market today.Patience is the key to using this item. It keeps my cigars at the correct humidity and gives me the perfect smoke every time. Using distilled water is another key. Taking the insert out and soaking it in the distilled water before putting it back inside can help and be another key to success.
Good Luck

I have 3 Diamond Crowns, 1 Ashton, 1 Prometheus, 2 Savinelli and a Fuente Fuente plus 10 mid level humidors. I have used Xikar, Dr RH products that work well but got tired of buying the Xikar solution. I purchased the Paradigm PSH-6's to try in two of my big boxes, a Savoy 150 & Prometheus. I wish I would not have waited so long to purchase the Paradigm! They work great! As my Xikar gel humidifiers wear out I will be replacing them with the Paradigm's. Good quality product that is well designed and built. I don't know what happened to the individuals that had problems but if the units are charged correctly they work absolutely awesome! The end caps do come off to properly prepare the system, pop the end cap back on and it is good to go!Read Best Reviews of Paradigm PSH 6 Humidifier 250 Cigars Here
Had it for 4 week now and can only get my humidor up to 56%. I recondition my 200 cigar humidor before I installed it, I have around 75 cigars in it. I did better with the Humi-care gel crystals, with them I had 66%. Would not recommend it, unless you have some money you just want to get rid of.Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Once again another junk product by cheaphumidors.com . no direction in package. am i supposed to fill it with distilled water or propylene glycol?Does what it claims to do. I am going to buy a nother one soon. This humidifier came installed on a humidor gift I received three years ago. It functioned well in keeping the humidity level in my box at around 70%, but the sticky tape holding this unit in place on the top lid came off within 6 months and the unit got moldy within two years.Thursday, August 1, 2013
Holmes HWF100-UC3 Humidifier Replacement Filter, Set of 3
I bought a bionaire humidifier that uses 2 of these wicks. They're a necessary evil, because the humidifer wont work without them.
My humidifier (a Bionaire BCM645) is basically a glorified self-refilling water bowl, with a pair of wicks dangling down into the water in the lower backside of the unit ... the wicks absorb water upwards, and the humidifier (basically a vertical tube with an exhause fan up up equipped with a humidistat) draws airflow in crosswise through the body of the wicks down below in order to blow humidified air out the top ... it's a simple design that sorta works.
The problem is that mineral deposits build up in these glorified (and overpriced) sponges, and they lose their ability to wick water upwards fast enough to keep up with the rate of evaporation ... the result is that they become dried out and crusty (and slowly stained with mildew), and only stay wet on the part that's dipped in the water.
Now, here's the annoying part, and why I only gave this product 3 of 5 stars ... they're needlessly fragile by design. The manufacturer WANTS you to keep reguloarly buying replacement sponges, just like inkjet printer manufacturers want to keep selling you overpriced ink cartridges. Even though I have fairly soft water, and use a carbon block filter, these wicks only seem to last me about 2 weeks per pair, by default, before they lose their ability to absorb/wick moisture and/or fall apart. Perhaps someday someone will make longer-lasting reuseable cloth replacement filters, but as of this writing, there dont appear to be any available ... because it's against the manufacturer's fiscal interests to make and sell such.
You can save money 2 ways:
1) SHOP AROUND: you can save as much as 50% by shopping around for the cheapest supplier, and scoffing at any implied manufacturer product loyalty. How ? The replacement filters for Holmes (HWF100) and Bionaire (BWF100) are functionally identical and interchangeable. They come 6 to a package (3 pairs).
2) RINSING: These wicks are rather fragile resist the urge to wring them out when rinsing them, or you'll damage them. Instead, fill a sink with body-temperature water, let them soak for 5-10 mins (to let the deposits soften & par-dissolve), then gently press them flat (while submerged) a few times. Then drain them (dont wring them) and reinstall. That should extend their performance by another week or so. Each subsequent rinse will yeild only half the benefit though. At best, you'll be able to double their lifespan.
Bottom line: I dont really recommend these wicks ... but if your humidifier requires them, there isnt much choice. However, if you use the tips I listed above, you can save up to half the cost, and make them last as much as twice as long. This was delivered 2 weeks later than promised and it is not the same filter as shown in the photo. It is a cheaper version and did not have the round button attached to the filter like the original has. It had a plastic square that could be attached anywhere but really won't stay put when attached so I just left it off.
Fortunately, just by stuffing the new filter into my machine, it worked Ok. I really hate returning stuff. It is just frustrating when they show a picture and you receive something else.

I have had a Holmes tower humidifier for several years and it requires two of the HWF100 filters. This particular model forces air through the bottom at the back and through the filters out the top. I guess like most filters, the top of the filter dries out quicker than the bottom where water is absorbed. To get a longer life from the filters I reverse the filters top to bottom about 2 times per week. This extends the life of the filter about 2 times. Other brand filters don't live up to the quality of the Holmes HWF100. Prices vary so shop around.
