We have only used our kettle for 3 days now, and although it really works in terms of letting off steam, it has a funny cast iron smell that goes along with it. Still a fun novelty piece, but certainly not the thing to do if you want a serious humidifier.

We have been looking for a kettle for sometime while shopping in town and on trips. Never found one in our price range. So excited to see this online. Our disappointment is that it is already showing rust around the rim of the pot and where the lid meets that area. Any suggestions regarding this would be appreciated.

I guess my wood stove top doesn't get hot enough to boil the water. I have a pretty big wood stove. I am sure that if used on the smaller stoves it would get hot enough to steam, especially if it is only filled about half full.
