Optimus U-31005 2.0 Gallon Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier

This Humidifier is so much better than the fancy one by sharper image that I had and then returned;

1. It only has one tank to fill (1.6 gallon capacity). It was a pain to have to fill each of the two tanks on the Sharper Image one.

2. It actually has a humidistat control. The more expensive(way more) sharper image one did not.

3. It has a built-in ionizer. (I don't use it, but still)

4. PRICE; Other fancier looking humidifiers will cost way more and have way less features.

5. The tank has a pretty big opening to pour water in. This makes it easier to fill. I also like that it will stand up on a flat surface while refilling it.

My only gripes:

1. Just to make it clear, power consumption is 45W. I wish Optimus would have printed that in the manual or on the box instead of me having to look on the underside of the unit's base for this piece of info. I'm not complaining about how much power it takes; just make the information easier to find, Optimus.

2. The humidistat control doesn't show what relative humidity % you have it set at. You kinda have to guess or use a hygrometer to know for sure. If it had a digital readout on the Humidistat, this would be 5 stars for sure. This is not really a complaint for me, but just a way they could make the product even better.

Overall this is a good one because it has a decent sized water tank and will keep the humidity at a constant level without having to fiddle with the dials constantly. It is pretty much set it and forget it except for refilling it with water of course. A little tip: use reverse osmosis or distilled water in it and you'll probably rarely, if ever, have to clean it.

I tried the WalMart and Walgreens humidifiers but the seals didn't work and you have to buy the fiber filters which fall apart in a couplt of months. The cost was about $30 but they just weren't working well. I tried the Optimus 2 gallon and I liked the fact that there is no filter required, it is easy to fill, and it has adjustable humidity flow. It is a lot quieter too. It costs $50. I was very pleased, so I bought another one for my son.

JERRY Personal Ultrasonic Humidifier

This little guy is SMALL. I like that it can easily be packed into a suitcase and not take up hardly any room. All you need is a regular water bottle up to 22 oz and it should work just fine. It comes with an adapter for overseas or where the electric current is not the standard 110. It's designed with travel in mind.

Totally easy to work. I filled a water bottle about 1/2 way up with tap water (though distilled would be best to avoid scale), pushed the water bottle adapter on the end of the bottle and then placed the whole thing in the hole on top of the unit. Water poured into it's reservoir for a few seconds and then stopped when it got full. It doesn't leak at all and it worked like a charm. I was surprised that a soft steam was emitted with a second after turning it on. However, I could not notice any difference when I turned the knob on the end from minimum to maximum steam output. The stream trails all looked the same. This is a small humidifier and it's steam trails look fairly thick, but they are soft and wispy. I held my hand in one for about 10 seconds and water collected on my palm so I know it's putting water into the atmosphere.

I can see how this would be useful when traveling if it's placed directly next to you while you slept. It's quiet and should not bother your sleep, and the steam is not hot at at and could gently drift over your face while you sleep. It has two tabs on each side that can be turned out so they stick out on the sides for stability. You wouldn't want it to tump over.

I like it, but I took a star away because I think $49.00 is a little pricey for it. I'd go about $25.00 for it but not 50. Also, you get a black, cloth carrying bag for it but I'd put it in a plastic zip-loc for traveling just in case there's still some water left inside. Also, I think it should be set on a folded towel when being used because the water vapor condenses on the surface area in front of it. It can get very watery.

This is really small and lightweight humidifier.

Comes with black pouch which makes it easier to travel with. It's well made but there are some cons:

very easy to tip over, even with extending legs, that are on both sides on the bottom; first time I used it and water was all over!

the bottle is not securely attached so be cautious when moving around,

the tank can not be 100% full or humidifier won't produce any mist; you have to remove some of it,

the mist does not go all the way up (like most humidifiers) and I use small towel on my nightstand to prevent any damage from humidity,

to feel any relief from the mist it must run for a while and be close to the face.

I'm not sure if I would pay $50, maybe $30 max with tax.

I started to use it for the whole night and I sleep on my side where I can feel the mist. I am currently 8 months pregnant and with the heat in the house my nose is dry. This humidifier helps to sleep and breath better. I can see the difference in the amount of the mist coming out, depends on the min or max setting, usually I just keep it in the middle.

Also I can not fall asleep with any white noise machines, dripping water makes me crazy etc. and this little guy is very quiet and quite pleasant to hear when drifting off to sleep. It shuts off by itself when the tank will run out of water.

Overall I like it, but note that this guy must be really close to you to feel any difference.

At first I was disappointed with this unit, as it was moody on whether mist came out, and when it did the mist went right down the front side instead of blowing out. I accidentally discovered a trick. If you prop up the front end just a little (I use two poker chips), the mist pours out, and it blows away from the unit towards me where I need the humidity for clogged sinuses in dry hotel rooms. I also used to sleep with the hotel fan on because I like white noise but that greatly affects the mist stream. Now I use a white noise app on my cell phone combined with this unit and I sleep great with no congestion in the morning.

I sleep with a humidifier every night at home, and find that I frequently get sick after travel because of the dry air in hotel rooms. This tiny humidifier (and it is really small)adds enough humidity to dry hotel air that I can sleep better without feeling like I've been in a desert all night. It fits easily in a suitcase or travel bag and uses the simplest of water tanks--a plastic water bottle. The output is adjustible, and it's really easy to empty in the morning. It's a little more money than some of the others available, but given the small size, it's worth the extra.

I loved the concept here. I always wished there was a travel humidifier. The first time I saw this was in Germany at an industry event. The reality is, the output is way low for most situations. If you were in a sealed room, without any disturbance of air movement, I could see how the humidity level would increase. However, if you'd in a hotel, assuming winter, the heater is on I predict that the amt of vapor coming out of the humidifier could not even counteract the heater's dryness let alone increase the humidity in the room.

Great Quality, Smart Design, unrealistic. I would have returned mine, but its already past the return period. =/ I really wanted this to work for me.

Haier HDN655E 65-Pint Capacity Electronic Control Dehumidifier

This was a great dehumidifier while it worked. A plumbing leak resulted in water in my normally dry basement so I bought the Haier HDN655E dehumidifier to dry things out after the leak was fixed. It pulled the humidity in my basement down to 45% in a couple of days. After that I ran it on Sundays when I was in the basement working on my hobbies. Unfortunately it died completely after a few weekends of use. Looking around on the internet it appears this unit may have a propensity for blowing an internal fuse when power is cycled and the compressor and blower come on simultaneously.

I really liked the electronic controls, the humidity setting and the timed off setting. The humidity readout is in increments of 5%, and tracked very close to a fairly expensive gauge I had nearby on the wall. The negatives: 1) The blower runs continuously when the desired humidity level is obtained, only the compressor stops, 2) Momentary power outages reset the humidity control to a default of 60% (and then the unit runs and runs any you wonder why it can't pull the humidity below 60%).

I called Haier support since the unit was still under warranty, but the person who answered the phone was extremely curt and the repair process consisted of sending pieces of the unit back to service center in return for a new unit. It was easier just to return the whole unit to where I bought it.

This dehumidifier does exactly what it is supposed to do, removes H2O from the room. Great in our basement, no more "damp" feeling carpet and no worries the kids are playing in an unsafe enviroment. It is not "whisper quiet" as the Solarus promises, but I like the fact that it has an air output vent on the top that discharges de-humidified, dry, fresh air. Probably why it is a little louder than my old Kenmore dehumidifier. I like the air flow into the room. It is not too loud either. We use it in the laundry room with no door and you can still hear the tv on a low setting. Wouldn't want to sleep in the same room, though.

You can get it in Wal Mart for about $179. I have bought 2 in the past 2 years, for a large basement in a house in a wooded area. Wal Mart is, however, poor in maintaining an inventory of slow moving items, and it may not be available in all stores at all times.

I purchased the Haier Dehumidifier model HDN655E a year ago.

I started to have problems with the switch that resets the unit after the water tank has been emptied and replaced,

I recently set up a system so I did not have to carry the water upstairs to empty. When I attached the drain hose, per the instuctions, I found that the water did not drain out the hose, it continued to fill the built in water tank. I still have to empty the tank and fight the reset switch.

This was my first unit. I have looked at other dehumidifiers and find others offer better systems to drain the water, the water tanks do not have to be emptied manually.

I would not recommend this unit. The reset switch is getting harder to manually reset, (replacing the water tank won't reset it,) and I don't expect it to work much longer.

The good:

---It does a great job quickly. It is a workhorse.

---I like that you can set the relative humidity setting all the way down to 30 if you want. Other units I have only go down to 50 or constant mode.

---I like that it has a timer for auto shutoff.

---The handle on the bucket makes emptying the water more convenient

--Nice, thin profile.

The bad:

---There are no scheduling for turning on or scheduled change in rel humidity types of options. But, I haven't seen this on any of these types of units. It would be nice to have.

---It pulls air in front and discharges in back. So you can't set it in a corner of the room. Other units have a side air discharge. This is important to think about before buying. Where do you plan on placing it when operating? Tucked away against the wall in the corner of a room? Can't do it.

--Dehumidifiers generate a little heat that they discharge. This comes from the dehumidifying itself.

The ugly

--It is a little noisy. I used to think that I didn't care about this feature. But, it will draw attention if guests are over. Other units I have are much quieter. But, it sounds like a floor fan on high speed, nothing more. So, if you don't care about a high speed fan sound in the room when operating, then this shouldn't matter. But, if you don't want the sound of a floor fan on high speed, then this unit is probably not for you.

I set it up in main room of our house and turn on at night with the 8 hour timer. Works out great. I use quieter units during the day.

I live in humid Florida and have allergies. Dehumidifiers often help with allergies and really do make the house more comfortable. Mold grows above 50% rel humidity. It doesn't below 50% generally. My family used to cough a lot in our house at night before we got dehumidifiers. As soon as I put one in each bedroom, the coughing stopped for everyone. No joke.

Honeywell HCM6013 Cool Mist Air Humidifier

We bought the Honeywell HCM-6013i cool mist humidifier to replace a GermGuardin humidifier that stopped working after 90 days of use. So far, this unit is performing quite well.

According to the specification in the owner's manual, this unit is capable of outputting 11 gallons per day (I'm assuming per 24 hours). Do not confuse this with the unit's water holding capacity. In two separate tanks, the humidifier holds about a total of 3.5 gallons of water. And you will not notice any humidifying mist as you might with other types of humidifier. This humidifier works by the same principle as a swamp cooler.

I usually have the fan speed on low and the humidity level set on auto at 35%. At these settings, I have to fill the water tanks every one and a half day or so. The HCM-6013i built-in hygrometer (humidity sensor) is no where near accurate. Although I have the unit set on 35%, actual humidity measured by a separate and more accurate hygrometer, measures 45%. I recommend buying a separate hygrometer so that you can find the right humidity level. If you're not as picky as I am, you can always go by feel and adjust the humidity control up or down until you find your comfort level, to where the unit turn on or off based on the setting.

This unit fits together from essentially four pieces; the base, the motor housing, and the two water tanks. The pieces do not exactly fit together that well. The design of this unit reminds me of something that was made from the former USSR. It's clunky...but it works. It has no problem keeping up the desired humidity level when the AC is on and the outside relative humidity is 10% 15%. It draws water from one of the two tanks at a time. When either one of the water tank is drained the unit makes a buzzing noise from the empty lighter tank. It's a little annoying, but a little tab or jolt usually resolves this buzzing noise.

I recommend buying a spare HC-14 replacement filter for this unit. I already notice that within a day if not hours of use the water-wicking filter mentioned was turning a little brown on the top. I don't know if the browning of the filter is due to using tap water for the humidifier or the air in my condo is that dirty. I hope it's the former rather than the latter.

The manual states that using tap water is OK because the water-wicking filter will absorb and retain the minerals in tap water, while the Protec water cleaning cartridge will help fight bacteria and other microbes in the water.

As mentioned above. This humidifier works about the same way as a swamp cooler. In a dry and warm environment, this humidifier does put out a noticeably cool breeze.

This product also boasts of having an "Air Washing Technology", and an independently controlled air ionizer. I can't comment too much about these features because I can't attest to how well they work. Again some swamp coolers can also claim of being able to wash the air as they cool...right? My gut feeling tells me that these features are a bit gimmicky. Does it really "clean" the air in my condo? Maybe. Does the air in my condo really need cleaning? Sometimes.

The unit seems to do a reasonable job at humidifying a 1300 square feet apartment. The tanks are easy to fill, and the controls are easy to operate.

As another reviewer noted, the parts were not designed to fit snuggly, so the unit will occasionally start rattling very loudly. Shifting one of the tanks will usually solve that for a few hours or more, but it's no fun when it wakes you up at night to do that. Otherwise, the device is reasonably quiet, especially on the lower fan settings.

The most surprising thing about this humidifier is the lack of a tank-empty indicator. This unit has a total of 10 LED indicators on the top, including five just to show the selected humidity level. It does have a float which cuts power to the fan when the tanks are empty, but no indication of that is given. The only way to figure out when you need to refill it is if you use the ionizer function: if you do that, you'll notice the blue indicator for the ionizer is lit but the fan is silent; that only happens when the tanks are empty. Yes, figuring out when to fill the tanks requires subtle detective work.

Considering most humidifiers costing half as much have a tank-empty indicator, it amazes me the manufacturer chose to save a few cents by eliminating this critical feature.

January 2010 update: Due to the poor fit of the parts, one of the two tanks doesn't latch into the water valve, and so it doesn't empty unless the other tank is removed. This makes the unit effectively an oversized 5.5 gallon one, instead of 11 gallon.

I just put the unit in service 12 hrs ago and it performs as advertised. I have had other humidifiers so using this one and setting it up was not an issue for me, nor did I have any expectations outside of an improved comfort level in the treated area. The design is simple and some may say somewhat crude but it simply is not a highly designed piece of technology---it's a humidifier and effectively raises the moisture level in the air. My home was so dry 19% RH with an outside temp of 12 F. It has been so cold and dry the last few days that my skin has actually been itching. On a high fan speed the unit went through both tanks of water in about 8-9 hrs which is consistant with the advertised spec of 11 gals/ 24 hrs. Again, the air was very dry and before running out of water I achieved a RH of 38% up from 19%. It will take a few days to get the area (1700 sq ft) to a comfortable RH of 45%. I would expect at that point the water usage and or need to refill the tanks will decrease as the humidity level increases--(moisture output should slow down regardless of fan speed as the moisture/humidity in the room air increases--I think). On the high fan speed the unit is a bit noisy and you probably would not want it in a bedroom at night--med and low fan speeds provide a reduction in the air noise--on low the unit will /can be tolerated in a bedroom and should not disturb sleep. The only other sound of note is an occasional water gurgle as the water leaves the tank and enters the reservoir. I haven't noticed any rattles that other reviews have mentioned though there could have been some rubber cushions placed in a couple of areas during production which would have eliminated the occasional plastic on plastic rattle---easily remedied by placing a thin piece of foam packing, paper towel, napkin, or material in between the tanks and the motor housing---simple but again something that should be part of the production process. The lack of a water level gauge or simple sight window that allows you to see in the tank would be helpful but after a few days of use you will become familiar enough with the unit and develop a feel for when the tanks need to be refilled based on your use preferences/settings.

NOTE: This review would also apply to model #'s 6009,6011, and 6012. All these models are basically the same with the exception of minor control differences--(knobs/digital led indicators).

Crane Ee-8064 Crane Germ Defense Humidifier - Digital, White

This is my 6th small humidifier. This time I was determined to find an ultrasonic model that featured an automatic shutoff, a rotating mist outlet & digital controls. While they are such practical features, you'd be surprised to learn how hard that combo is to find! I came across this one from Crane a big name in plumbing fixtures. As I hadn't heard of them making humidifiers before, I was leery. You know how it can backfire when you buy something that isn't a mainstream name or model? That won't be the case with this machine.

I am totally & pleasantly surprised. It arrived on time, well-packed & was intuitive to get started. It's SO quiet! The reason that I chose this one over a quite comparable Holmes or Honeywell is because it includes an ionizer a feature that one would normally need to purchase a separate air purifier to have. It also offers BOTH cool & warm mist. While I don't expect to use the warm mist (cats,) it's good to know that it's there. This is by far the QUIETEST humidifier of the six that I have had!

Unless you're independently wealthy & can afford to run it with distilled water, you will need the optional demineralization filter to avoid the white powder deposit left by hard water. So just go ahead & buy one.

This machine is a real winner in every way. And oh, btw, did I mention that is QUIET????????

This is my third small humidifier and my first ultrasonic one. The other two were evaporation style one using disposable filters and the other using a permanent filter which water was circulated over. The second is in the trash bin, didn't last two years. The first is a Vornado and works ok but is loud and requires replacing the filters every year.

Now onto the Crane. Based on the great reviews I read about the Crane humidifiers, I was looking for the drop shape one, but could not find it anywhere locally. My local Frys had this one so I picked it up. It humidifies really well, there are three settings, the highest pumps a lot of moisture in the air. So much so that it will dampen the carpet and other objects around if the fan in the room is not on. I usually keep it on low or the second setting and keep the ceiling fan on low. I also like the adjustable nozzle on the top. It has two rotating sections that can be aimed independently, so you can aim it in two directions. The warm mist feature is not necessary steam, it warms the water prior to misting it. You can feel the warmth a few inches over the nozzle, but it's cool after that. I usually use the warm feature and the ionizer all the time.

What I don't care much for is the tank design. It must be flipped over to fill and there is no handle or any easy way to old it while flipped. Also, the handle on the top is not centered, so when holding the full tank it tilts forward a bit. When setting back in the unit, you need to level the tank before it will slide completely in. it's not the biggest deal, just a minor annoyance.

I'm also not a big fan of the buttons on the front. They are completely flat and sense the heat from your finger. If your hands are cold or damp from just handling the tank, sometimes the buttons don't register a press. Since they are completely flat, I can't find the buttons by feel while trying to make adjustments in the dark. The display is also way too bright at night, I have a piece of index card taped up to cover it.

Overall I like the humidifier and does a wonderful job of humidifying, but the design could be improved a bit.

This Crane humidifier with touch controls works pretty well.

The Pros are:

Quite good humidity output that allows you to control how fast you change the humidity in your room. Also has timer so you can have it shut off after several hours, which is good if you don't want it running all day or night.

The humidity level can be changed from 40% up to 60%. Mine seems pretty accurate, as I compared against a digital humidistat about 10 feet away and they typically run within 5% after you allow a couple of hours (I'm using it in a 500 sq ft. room).

The antimicrobial plastic polymer does seem to slow down the amount of bacteria that grows, so if the machine is cleaned once/week, it should be fine. It's easy to clean

We fill it with water that was filtered by a good under the counter water filter, so not much white powder, even on the TV.

The Cons are:

Remembering to remove the nozzle prior to removing the tank to fill it. It usually goes flying somewhere on the floor.

It's pretty quiet, but mine has an annoying high pitch hum from the ultrasonic transducer. It's OK if you have the TV on or some other sound. I think to sleep with, it may not work for you. I can't sleep with it on.

The tank is kind of a pain to fill since the handle is designed pretty poorly and is not centered so you will need two hands to handle it for sure.

As for reliability, ours is only about 2 months old, so far so good.

This entire unit seems very fragile, and this fact is probably demonstrated best by the manufacturer's repeated instructions in the manual of "DO NOT carry Water Tank by handle when it is filled with water." Why? Presumably because the handle is so weak and fragile that it will break off. Yes, it's THAT flimsy.

The primary reason, though, why this unit is essentially unusable is that the humidity sensor on this one I've received is faulty. When I plugged it in, it stated that the "present" room humidity is "40%," and once during a 5-hour run, it registered "41%." However, at the time I started it running, my HygroSet Digital Hygrometer w/ Calibrating Kit, recently calibrated, read that the actual, in-room relative humidity was 34%. Hygrometers on humidifiers are notoriously inaccurate, so I simply assumed that this one on the Crane Ee-8064 read slightly high. I was wrong....

After 5 hours of running at the highest setting, the tank was nearly emptied, and my personal hygrometer read that the RH had risen to 53%. However, the readout on the humidifier itself still read 40%. Completely dysfunctional.

If you want a unit to run wide-open in a room to get it humidified quickly, this might be a fair choice, but, based on this experience, I don't trust this unit's sensor. It's not one I'd trust to leave on overnight or to let run if I were to leave the room, for it can't possibly self-regulate if the sensor can't detect a 19-point change in relative humidity. I'd pass on this one.

This humidifier has lots of features and controls that matter. With a built in humidity monitor, it can be set to run automatically and keep a room at the desired level. To protect from too much moisture, having a humidity level control is important, and tends to only be on more expensive models. You can also configure 3 levels of output, which is quite a lot on high. And finally a timer control in 1 hour increments between 1 and 12 hours and continuous (up to 24 hours -probably the tank capacity). So you really can control how long, how fast, and what level. And it has a large tank to last too. Then you have the auxiliary stuff like ionizer (air freshener, although I cannot tell), and "warm mist" mode. The warm mist is the most controversial because it isn't hot steam. But it takes 15 minutes *after* the button is pressed to actually start spewing warmer mist, so don't expect to immediately notice. Personally I am wary of warmer mist due to worry about it being more conducive environment for mold. It is fairly quiet, but not silent. It is a low hum like a small motor but not very prominent, and a bubbling sound like a fish tank aerator, but not as loud or distracting. I'd prefer constant white noise, but the bubbling sound is still quiet. It is quite light (when empty) and easy to use. Overall it is quite nice.

It has a few minor drawbacks. (1) It has a rather short power cord, but is easily solved with an extension cord. (2) However quiet, the bubbling noise being audible might bother some. (3) The tank has no usable handle, which they are very clear about in the manual. There is a flimsy handle only for use when empty. I'm not sure why it has one at all if you might accidentally use it. But it is fine. (4) It is "germ defense", not maintenance free, so you still have daily and weekly maintenance, although not too bad, and there are 2 areas to clean. (5) Removing the tank can let some water drip if you aren't careful due to the open reservoir design, and emptying the open bottom reservoirs when full takes some attention to not tip and drip.

Take heed of maintenance required. Even though it is "germ defense", it doesn't mean maintenance free. Daily you still have to completely empty it (both tank and reservoirs) and dry. Weekly you have to use a water and 2-tbs white vinegar solution to soak 30 minutes, shake, rinse, dry, and in both tank and reservoirs. You must do this to keep it a safe, germ & mold free environment or you could do more harm than good. It doesn't really sound too bad to do, but I really wish they would make a maintenance free one. I wish there were disposable parts or quick wipes or something that didn't sound like a chore. This is true of any humidifier

You cannot use it on or near wood surfaces or furniture (or anything else) that might be damaged by too much moisture. There will be more moisture in the immediate vicinity too, and you cannot use a towel under it due to the vent opening underneath. So if you have a lot of wooden surfaces or sensitive stuff, you might be hard pressed to find a good place to use any humidifier. This one lets you set it from 40-80% humidity, but as they advise, you should only set it from 40-50%. It both risks damage from moisture, as well as an environment for mold. So the key is to strike a perfect balance. This is true of any humidifier.

I've owned 2 of these over the past 3 years. The first was bought while I lived in a dormitory at school. It leaked one day while I was at school and made a total mess of the carpet in my room! The humidifier was sitting on the floor. I tried placing it on a rack and then the window sill. Each time, it continued to leak. Fast forward, recently just bought another one as I misplaced mine after college. This one also leaks. Water overflows the basin and leaks out the back. I come home and find my night stand and the towel (which I placed underneath in case it dripped) SOAKED. I don't understand. I'll never buy this humidifier again even if it is an affordable price.

We owned one of these that was great. Unfortunately my husband broke the water basin. Subsequently we have owned 2 of them that leak all over the place unless the back end is propped at a sharp angle. At first we thought it was because we lived in and older house with unlevel floors but that isn't the case now!

I don't understand how a company can sell a product that is clearly as defective as this. The humidifier has ruined my dresser because of the leaking water. Checked the humidity of the room with a hygrometer over the course of several nights and this machine made absolutely zero difference. Tried two different units. Same results. Bad design and horrible leakage issues.

Received this as a gift. I fortunately looked online before plugging it in, and saw that it leaked. Rather than return it immediately, I decided to try it overnight sitting in a baking dish, to see how serious the problem was. This was a very bad idea on my part; in the morning, I found that there was about a half-gallon of water in the dish, and that the place where the power cord attaches was only just above the water line.

Obviously, I have now returned this humidifier. In the future, I will conduct these experiments more carefully.

The problem appears to be that the water tank releases water more quickly than the machine can vaporize it. Because of this, the water level within the machine rises until it starts spilling out the vent in the back. This product should not have been put on the market in its current state.

It worked fine for about two weeks, then I came home one day and it had leaked all of the water out all over the dresser and floor. I returned the item.

When I went to the hardware store to purchase this product, the humidifier gods were trying to tell me something. I picked up this humidifier and, to find out the price, I turned the box upside down. Much to my surprise, water came pouring out of the box and onto the floor.

As I later learned, the design of this product is quite conducive to this result. When you place the filled tank onto the base it slowly empties into a base where the water is heated. This water filled base is not isolated or sealed in anyway. As a result, the water is free to slosh over the sides of the base if you so much as nudge it or change its position after filling it.

This product is therefore less then useless, it is a hazard. I returned it as soon as it had dried. Perhaps I should have left the water in it to pass the message on.

I've owned this humidifier for about a year and I am now shopping for another kind. It did the job as far as getting me out of misery with my sinuses during the winter but there are some things I don't care for about it. The noise is ok, a little glug-glug now and then, almost sounds like a leak til you get used to it, which I did. It is very annoying to clean and I never felt like I was getting it clean enough. Output was great at first then not so impressive after a couple of months probably because of mineral buildup somewhere I couldn't get to. It got me out of a crisis but I wouldn't buy another one. Oh, well, you get what you pay for, right?

Very stylish, nice blue glow in the dark. It automatically shuts off when the water is out, and it stays dry when not being used. It is however too small, and the mist doesn't go very far hence not quite enough for personal overnight use. If this is the only humidifier you'll own, it will not be enough.

I'll be brief. Half the time that you try to turn this humidifier on, it will not work. It is such a cheaply-designed piece of equipment that the water tank will not even fall correctly when you try to reintroduce it to the humidifier casing. Imagine having to drop the refilled water tank into the humidifier TEN OR TWENTY TIMES after each refill until you finally get lucky and the humidifier actually decides to turn on. Also, this machine will produce some of the least steam that I have ever seen from a humidifier. My cat's breath provides more moisture to a room.

Horrendous.
