I only bought this because I am obsessed with Orcas. This is the 3rd Orca humidifier I have purchased from this company. They will only replace it within the first year, & the humidifier quits working shortly thereafter. If you are not obsessed by Orcas, buy a more reliable product from a more reputable company.

I had to exchange this product for another one after 3 days of use and the other one last about 2 months and now that one isn't working. I followed all the directions on taking care of it yet it still had problems. I like the idea of it and the way it looks but not worth buying something that breaks this fast.

Ordered for my sons room thinking it would be a cuter way to go than the standard humidifier. Huge mistake..it leaks and doesn't help humidify the room at all..save your money.

I have to admit I fell in love with the look of the Orca Humidifier (baby has a nautical themed room) before researching about the quality of the product. It is a little bulky of a size and you are not able to turn the Orca's nose, so be sure to have it on a high shelf that supports the entire humidifier in a child's room. It is extremely quiet cool misting humidifier with an automatic shutoff which we love. As with all humidifiers, it can drip water while you are cleaning and replacing water, but I have yet to find one that does not do that. All in all, we are very happy with this product.

I like to use this type of product to add a pleasant scent in our home and yes, it does work. Different scents are available in this brand and I like the apple cinnamon aroma best. It seems to be the most robust scent additive out of the others available. It is simple to use but is best to add the liquid to the humidifiers water after filling the container otherwise foam is created taking up water space.

I only use this product on occasion because if you think about it, it is not a cheap way to fill your home/room with a pleasing smell. The concept is great but not affordable for me with constant use. You can add more liquid per gallon of water to increase the strength of aroma which is what I need to do for my satisfaction. For this reason, cost per gallon of water, I am rating this product with 4 stars ****.

Other similar products are available such as a tablet-type scent. Just drop the tablet(s) in the water according to the intensity of aroma you enjoy. However, this form of additive is not an economical option either. I have only found this type in a local store so far.

If you're like me wanting value for the money, it is not the most cost effective way to do so. But on occasion, I do find it worth the price.

My sense of smell is not what it used to be so take this with a grain of salt.

I have not been able to detect any fragrance from this product at all, even when using three times the recommended amount. Even when standing right in front of the air flow from the humidifier. Even after leaving home for 4 to 5 hours and returning. No fragrance.

This product foams a great deal. Very much like soap. In the bottle, it even smells like soap or detergent. The foaming causes my humidifier to make annoying snapping sounds, like the foam bubbles popping. Except they are louder and sharper. More like slight electrical arching. Small sparks. (It could be that the foam is getting into the fan blade, getting whacked, and making a sharp sound.) It makes me wonder if the foam is getting into the electrical components at the top of the unit. If so, this can only cause eventual failure of the humidifier due to mineral buildup on the electrical components.

This product also causes the impeller/fan to run very loud for some reason. I have to run 2 or 3 tankfuls of water in the humidifier without this product added before the impeller/fan sounds normal again.

I have a Homedics breathe machine, you can no longer get the smell liquid to add to the water. I got this but the scent is not strong enough. You can barely smell it for only a short timeand I added more than required.

but did very little to make anything else smell better. It has a bit of soap in it too. Well, maybe not soap, but it will make lots of bubbles if you put it in an evaporative cooler as I did. Wouldn't order it again, put it that way.

FRED Humidifier - White

very simple steam humidifier. You should be aware of the types of humidifier and not be suprised at the hot steam and potential of accidental burns. If you have small child, you should not own this.

Pros:

Steam= no white dusts, no filters to change, bacterias are "boiled" off.

Stylish= no toy looking controls, no clear blue medical looking canisters

auto shut off when water is depleted

cons:

All plastic material shell(including the feet): now, I'm not sure if the outshell being metal is a good thing. It can potentially be a metal toaster oven if its made out of metal. Plastic does have a certain smell.. if you ever used a plastic electric water boiler, it smells just like that.

Designed in Swiss but made in China: don't be fooled by the swiss style design, this baby is geniue made in china.

The plastic chute is extremely hot, you can't touch that thing while the steamer is operating. Have to be careful.

Price: You are paying for the style, not functionality.

conclusion: only good if you want a steamer type humidifier and are turned off by cheap looking Vicks style steamer.

I don't write reviews often, but am really upset that I wasted so much money on this humidifier. My husband got this for me because I have frequent nose bleeds from the dry air. We used it for one week and was pleased with it because it was so quiet. I didn't like the hassle of having to take it apart daily to refill the water, but put up with it because it was cute. On the eighth day, I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't work. At all. The little blue light didn't even turn on. I took it apart and found a bunch of calcified deposits. The company states that it wasn't covered under the warranty because the instructions state that it should be "cleaned often." We had only used it for one week. Only buy this product if you are willing to take it apart and clean it almost daily (waste of time) because this poorly constructed piece of equipment is otherwise a huge waste of money. On a side note, we bought another product from them, the Max space heater. Although it still works, it doesn't work very well unless you're sitting about a foot away from it. We got another space heater that was about the same price and works infinitely better. I'm through with their products.

The design is great! Super easy to fill and clean without a ton of parts. While it doesn't recede completely, it is at least whimsical and fun and like all Swizz designs, elegant and clean.

If you are looking for a relatively basic but very stylish humidifier, Fred is the perfect choice. Fred is warm air humidifier with a few basic buttons which glow a futuristic blue at night. Most humidifies in this price range have more functions and larger water tanks, but look designed for a drab hospital. Although made of plastic, Fred feels very sturdy and solid. As far as humidifiers go, it looks cool. You won't need to hide it.The only complaint is the water container only last for 4 hours on high and 8 hours on low.

I wanted this humidifier forever and was so excited when it arrived!

Very first night i used it the lid filled up with condensation then poured out the bottom onto my dresser. Took it apart, dried it out and planned to try one more time with a towel under it. No go, its completely dead & wont even power on.

Its very cute, but not even as functional as a vase because it leaks. For what it costs thats completely unnaceptable.

Just received my Ci-Gel Clear Jar Humidifier. Having never used such an item, I was very disappointed that there were no directions in the package. I have no idea whether to use it as is or fill with distilled water. I've been searching the web for suggestions but so far no luck. amazon listing says "re-use these again and again by just adding distilled water!"; received item says "refill with Xikar Propylene Glycol Solution" (which costs $12 shipped, for an 8-oz bottle).

amazon listing says "3 ounce capacity"; received item is marked "2 fl oz." this may be a discrepancy between ounces (weight) and fluid ounces (volume), but it does make this item appear to be 50% larger than competing items, which are all advertised as "2 oz".

if i'd known this, i would have ordered the item with Ci-Gel in the title, for $3 less.

i think i will simply refill with distilled water anyway, and when it stops maintaining proper humidity, replace it with the (more expensive) heartfelt beads, which appear to be very popular with cigar smokers.

We received this product and it had no instructions with it we called the company they said they would send by email. It was a cartoon character with no pertinent information to our kit. We called the company received another email with different directions and Guess what, still not for our kit. Different parts and extra parts in box .Called the company again and they said the redesigned the box that's why all the parts weren't the same go ahead and assemble it and use it. I told them I did not believe it was a submersible pump they assured me it was.

You can't check it if it's under water with the pebbles over it ,you can't turn the knob either. It never got up to temperature and smelled up our back room with smoke.

This company is not helpful and obviously do not know there product very well. Total waste of money!

LED had a poor soldering job, I spent way too much time taking it apart and manipulating the wires getting it to light... for a while, finally the soldering broke altogether. Instructions show that the tank contains a hole to insert the heating element although my tanks contains no such hole. So far 1/3 growth, one molded jar and 2 without growth, although that might be the spore supplier. I've done this before just buying jars from another supplier and keeping in a dark closet and have had less hassle. I'm sure that if everything worked correctly I'd have a better yield but I bought from you to make life easier and you had the opposite affect, very disappointed :(.

Product is not the same size as the filters from the original manufacturer. Had to trim several inches off with a scissor to fit the humidifier.

I bought 2 just because the shipping cost was the same as buying one. Holmes HM575-UC Warm Mist Humidifier

When I went to the hardware store to purchase this product, the humidifier gods were trying to tell me something. I picked up this humidifier and, to find out the price, I turned the box upside down. Much to my surprise, water came pouring out of the box and onto the floor.

As I later learned, the design of this product is quite conducive to this result. When you place the filled tank onto the base it slowly empties into a base where the water is heated. This water filled base is not isolated or sealed in anyway. As a result, the water is free to slosh over the sides of the base if you so much as nudge it or change its position after filling it.

This product is therefore less then useless, it is a hazard. I returned it as soon as it had dried. Perhaps I should have left the water in it to pass the message on.

I've owned this humidifier for about a year and I am now shopping for another kind. It did the job as far as getting me out of misery with my sinuses during the winter but there are some things I don't care for about it. The noise is ok, a little glug-glug now and then, almost sounds like a leak til you get used to it, which I did. It is very annoying to clean and I never felt like I was getting it clean enough. Output was great at first then not so impressive after a couple of months probably because of mineral buildup somewhere I couldn't get to. It got me out of a crisis but I wouldn't buy another one. Oh, well, you get what you pay for, right?

It is however too small, and the mist doesn't go very far hence not quite enough for personal overnight use. If this is the only humidifier you'll own, it will not be enough.

I'll be brief. Half the time that you try to turn this humidifier on, it will not work. It is such a cheaply-designed piece of equipment that the water tank will not even fall correctly when you try to reintroduce it to the humidifier casing. Imagine having to drop the refilled water tank into the humidifier TEN OR TWENTY TIMES after each refill until you finally get lucky and the humidifier actually decides to turn on. Also, this machine will produce some of the least steam that I have ever seen from a humidifier. My cat's breath provides more moisture to a room.
