Warm Mist Humidifier Color: Black

My daughter got this humidifier and I liked how attractive it was. I live where the winters are very cold, so with the heat on all the time the air gets dry and creates electricity in the air. The result is it makes your hair stand out, and you can't touch your pets without shocking them. I wanted a humidifier that wasn't an eye soar in the living room.

I ordered one for myself and am very happy with the appearance, how quiet it is, and how wonderfully it works. I reccomend this product.

These jars do a really good job for the cost. I have 2 150 count humidors that I could never get over 60% humidity, adding these humidifiers brought the humidity up to 68% and keeps it there.

Just received my Ci-Gel Clear Jar Humidifier. Having never used such an item, I was very disappointed that there were no directions in the package. I have no idea whether to use it as is or fill with distilled water. I've been searching the web for suggestions but so far no luck. This may be a very good product but without directions it is useless to me.

amazon listing says "re-use these again and again by just adding distilled water!"; received item says "refill with Xikar Propylene Glycol Solution" (which costs $12 shipped, for an 8-oz bottle).

amazon listing says "3 ounce capacity"; received item is marked "2 fl oz." this may be a discrepancy between ounces (weight) and fluid ounces (volume), but it does make this item appear to be 50% larger than competing items, which are all advertised as "2 oz".

if i'd known this, i would have ordered the item with Ci-Gel in the title, for $3 less.

i think i will simply refill with distilled water anyway, and when it stops maintaining proper humidity, replace it with the (more expensive) heartfelt beads, which appear to be very popular with cigar smokers.

SPT SU-2550W Ultrasonic Humidifier with Fragrance Diffuser, White

I work at a drugstore and could have purchased any number of humidifiers and gotten a good discount. However, I wanted one that was more stylish for my master bedroom. Also, I was very sick with a sinus infection and simply wasn't well enough to venture out to make a purchase. I looked on amazon.com and found the SPT brand had good reviews. This item in particular caught my eye because of the unique design. FYI it also comes in purple, blue and pink. I chose the white as my bedroom is white and turquoise. I paid extra to have it arrive the next day which was a Friday.

UPS delivered it around lunchtime on Friday. It was boxed well both from Amazon and the manufacturer. It comes encased in molded styrofoam. When I opened up the styrofoam my happiness floated away as it was half empty. The top air diffuser section was missing. Upon inspecting the rest of the humidifier I found it had been previously unpacked and the plastic bag around the cord had been ripped out so someone could get to the cord. Clearly this was a returned item.

I contacted Amazon online chat and they were very nice and offered a refund or replacement. I asked how long it would take to get a replacement and they said it would arrive on Monday. I explained to the representative that I was disappointed since I was sick and couldn't go out to purchase one and that I had paid extra to have it arrive overnight because I needed it right away. The representative had not been aware of this but when I told them they immediately told me they would send a replacement and it would arrive the next day. Sure enough Saturday morning around 10:30 UPS delivered a new humidifier!

Now for the second one. It contained all its parts! I was very impressed with the quality of the product and the stylish appearance. It really looks like a genie bottle! Initially I set it up on my kitchen to be able to watch it and make sure it worked properly. I used Brita filtered water and filled the tank 3/4 full. It ran all day on a low setting and when I took it to my bedroom turned it up to medium high and it ran all night and still had a lot of water left in the tank in the morning. Whether it was this humidifier or the antibiotics I had my first good nights sleep in six nights!

I found this unit to be exceedingly quiet aside from an occasional slight gurgle of water. The mist is silent at dispersion and does not spit or sputter. I like that the night light can be turned off and that it has a bright red "refill" button. I have not let it run out of water as yet so I can't speak to when that refill button comes on. Also, from reading other reviews on a variety of humidifiers I knew there was a possibility of water leaking so I placed a towel underneath. After running all day and night the towel is totally dry.

This unit is easy to refill with a removable screw in open/close knob on the bottom of the tank. I do see that this will be an item that needs some upkeep on the tank. You will definitely need a bottle brush to be able to get inside and keep it clean as it does have some nooks and crannies.

After only one days use I can say I am pleased with the unit. I will update as time goes by with further information.

UPDATE: I have now had this unit about two weeks and have used it off and on during that time. I have been very pleased with its low water usage, unique night light feature, and the fact that the water doesn't spit or splatter. I had a towel under it the entire time and it never got damp at all.

One note about Amazon humidifier reviews. Very rarely is there a five star review on humidifiers! Seems every brand I researched has its difficulties which I attribute to two things. The first thing is the fact that you are dealing with a small appliance that uses water. The second thing is many difficulties could be avoided by reading the instruction manual. This particular humidifier comes with a great manual.

I'm happily surprised with this humidifier. This thing put out A LOT of steam on the highest setting. It shoots right out of the top and looks like smoke billowing out or like those fog machines people use for Halloween. After a couple of hours, I could tell the air around me wasn't so dry. It felt like I could breath easier. We have a wood stove so the air in our home is super dry. This humidifier is attractive and I LOVE the added scent diffuser. I bought some lavendar oil to put into it and it works really really well. This humidifier will run about 8 hours on a full tank, going full blast. Its also got a blue light in it that you can switch on to use as a night light. Its easy to refill as well. I'd recommend this if you have dry air. Its a "cooler" looking humidifier than the run of the mill sort.

Update 12/19/12 After having this humidifier for about a month, IT BROKE!! I cleaned the machine out with a mild vinegar solution, didn't mess with any of the parts, and now it does not work. I'm so mad. Now I have to waste more money and buy another machine. I will never buy another thing from SPT. Good luck if you buy this. Mine broke so quickly and easily. Pathetic junk.

I've had this product for about a month and a half. After the first day, the plastic piece that holds the fragrance diffuser bottle in place broke. At first I didn't know what it was, then when I took the diffuser out to check how much oil was left another piece broke off. It does say not to turn too tight, which I didn't and it still broke. I only have half the plastic left now. It still stays in place but I'm worried that it won't last through the next batch of oil I put in the diffuser.

I only notice a higher level of humidity when I turn the knob to the highest setting. This uses a lot of water and it won't last through the night. I haven't actually timed it, but I would say that if you leave it at the highest level, in 4-5 hours you won't have any water left. I only have a 8x8 room and I live in a tent on a base in Afghanistan. My room is closed off with walls and a blanket for a roof, so maybe the moister is being absorbed into them. It's so dry out here I was hoping this would help keep me a little moist! I've found that if I put it on the high setting for about an hour, then turn it down to the middle setting, it will last until morning (about 9 hours).

I can smell the fragrance, but lately I noticed a sour smell, like it's getting mildew in it. I've cleaned it several times and still get the smell. I only smell it from the hole where the mist comes out, not from the base or the tank. The mildew smell overwhelms my orange oil fragrance. I don't know what else to do with it. Everyday I empty the left over water, clean out the little "mist hole" and let everything dry out. I still get the smell after about an hours usage. The water I use is drinking water, so it's not coming from that. I think this would probably work good in a kids room, if it's of smaller size. Overall, I give it three stars.

A complete waste of money. Used it ONE time and that's it. It doesn't work now. Quite frankly, I'm pretty ticked off. Do not waste your money on this diffuser. It immediately leaked all over the place, red light stayed on and quit working. I felt like $50 would at least get me a somewhat decent diffuser. Boy was I mistaken.

There's nothing positive I can say about this product, but as for the negatives...

It has barely any effect on the room temperature when set to air-cooling mode.

It's extremely loud and obnoxious. Seriously, it sounds just like an idling lawn mower.

Emits a nasty, exhaust-like smell.

Save yourself the time and money, you really don't want this product at any price.

After reading the other reviews, my story is hardly unique here. The product worked (marginally, I might add) for about 3 weeks before beginning one night to emit a deafening, grinding noise. I disassembled the whole thing to see if I could figure out the problem. Didn't help. I emailed Whynter customer service and after several back and forth exchanges with basically useless ideas to fix it, I got a return authorization to send it back. I heard absolutely NOTHING from them for over six weeks until I basically hounded them about the whereabouts of my unit. After TWO MONTHS of waiting, it finally arrived again. I plugged it in and was greeted by...THE SAME HORRIBLE NOISE! After over two months, they fixed absolutely nothing. It sucks. They suck. Do yourself a favor and DON'T BUY THIS GARBAGE!

Whynter Air Cooler/Heater/Humidifier

Timeframe: 2 months

My usage conditions: 51F to 78F, Humidity 60% to 80%

Functions used: Heater, evaporative air cooler, humidifier.

Design:

I selected this primarily for the design and color scheme. I did not want another white/beige appliance or some psychedelic blue or pink candy painted device. Conventionally shaped and subtle in overall appearance. Top marks.

Functionality: The Whynter air cooler is a misnomer, while it does a solid job cooling a 150square foot space, it does a whole lot more than cool. The heat was nice to have when the temperature dipped and the humidity control is very useful when dealing with dry air resulting from heater use. Intuitive and easy to control. The water tank at the base take a bit of jiggering to slide in and out but otherwise I do not have any issues with it. The filters built into the unit do provide some degree of purification. My room air purifier lasted about 30% longer before the indicator light came on. It is light weight and portable, but be careful when you move it with the water tank filled.

Quality:

Well built with softtouch controls. The remote control was responsive and fit nicely into the attached holster on the unit. Material is were primarily plastic. Easy to clean and maintain. Pre-filter is easily removed and cleaned. No fuss device.

Price:

Quite reasonable for all that it does. I would take this over 3 or 4 separate devices any day.

Overall:

One of my better purchases this year. top scores across the board.

Never quite experienced an air cooler before, it is decidedly a good product that does well for the price. This unit does a good job cooling at a fraction of the cost of an air conditioner and without the power consumption or setup needed. Don't expect the room to cool down significantly, air coolers don't work that way. This provides superior comfort in a 15ft radius.

In fact, I prefer to have this on compared to an air conditioner on dryer days.

I'm not an uber technical person but from my understanding, what it does is to use water to and the cooling effect of an evaporative process. This is especially useful for sensitive or dry skin. Currently used in the bedroom but am adding an additional unit in the den.

Not real setup is required, just fill the unit with water and set it on, it makes an odd noise when the water bucket is empty but just fill it up again and you'll be fine. The louvers are a little flimsy but can be popped back into place quite easily. It's easy to move around and small enough to put in most spaces. Oh, and it comes with handy heater mode too.

this is a great unit for humidifying a large area for cigars. I use it in a 48 quart cooler and it holds humidity at 63-65%. Easy to recharge, simply dip in distilled water and shake off excess. Only charge 75% of the beads, these both release and absorb humidity.

the plastic brick is sturdier than most and has a fairly small footprint. would have been 5 stars but the shipping costs are a little high. If you're having trouble maintaining humidity in your humidor beads are the solution.

A lot smaller than I expected we will see how it works but I expected it to be much larger.
