Essick Air 1040 Replacement Wick, Twin Pack

I haven't used anything different in my Essick Humidifier (which is by far the best humidifier I've ever owned -definitely worth the $80 I paid for it), and I think these filters work swell.

To make them last:

-add a cap of liquid bacteria treatment (buy this in a hardware store for cheap) to the base of the humidifier every other week

-soak the filters in warm vinegar water once monthly (they will retain a slight vinegar smell for a day, but that quickly fades)

I typically get 4 months use out of the filters before I replace them. With the effort I put into keeping them clean I likely could use them longer, but the mineral stains make me think they're dirty.

I haven't been able to locate these filters in local stores (and trust me when I tell you I've searched all over Denver!), so I tend to order in bulk off from Amazon once a year and keep a supply of them in the closet.

The filters were well priced, exactly as advertised, delivered with lightning speed, and made that humidifier work like new. You can't ask for much more than that!

I was surprised to find them at such a great price. I will not actually use them until next winter but they are just like the ones I purchased elsewhere at the beginning of last winter and they were a good product so will assume these will be too.

Aprilaire 4040 - Humidifier 24V Water Solenoid Valve

The purchase experience was good. It took about a week to get the part and it appears that most of that time it was in transit. This is long but not a big issue.

There was no documentation that indicated that the valve had an input and output (i.e. flow direction). There also wasn't any indication that the valve can be mounted in either a left or right orientation. As it turns out, there is an arrow on the valve that indicates flow. Additionally, there is a screw on the side of the valve that allows it to rotate allowing either left or right mount.

In the end, this is a good product with nice features and better documentation would make this an EXCELLENT product overall.

I read the reviews about this product. I was concerned about the "Solenoid not included" comment so I email the company. They quickly responded that the solenoid was included. I ordered the product. It does not come with instruction but there are only two wires and an in/out for the water which is marked with an arrow. Hard to screw up! Took me 20 minutes to install mainly because it's hard to reach behind the water heater.

Bottom line easy to install, stopped the leak problem I had with the original part. What else could you ask for?

Both of the other reviews indicate that this is a solenoid valve assembly but it is NOT! The picture you see is NOT what you get. The picture is for the solenoid valve assembly (which is what I thought I was buying).

This particular product is the transformer. It was a stupid mistake on my part trusting the review and the pictures. Too bad shipping was $9.00, as now it's not worth it to send it back.

I purchased a aprilaire water valve 4040 and i received a valve made by generalaire model ga4040.

I thought i could use this valve but this valve is not what is pictured and the mounting bracket does not mount to my aprilaire model 760. (also water inlet is on wrong side)

Works perfect for my whole house humidifier. Disposable at the end of the season and the price was perfect. I can buy an extra filter for what I would have paid for gas and go find it in a store somewhere.

I charged the crystals with distilled water. There are no instructions in the box, but for me it took about 45 minutes. Tested over several days in a sealed container and it consistently hit 83-85% humidity. Way too high. I let about half of the water evaporate from the crystals and tried again. Same 83% humidity. Cigars need to stay within 65%-75%, or risk mold, taste, and beetle problems. It's possible that the chemical in the device I received had simply decayed. I gave it two stars because the casing and magnet are nice quality, and it might have been a fluke with what I experienced, but I'm not trusting my cigars to this product. FYI The digital hydrometer I used for the test reads 76% with a salt paste and 70% with a Boveda 69% packet.

Came with no instructions as to the amount of glycol to fill, and the magnetic tape was missing from box. By the way the box say instructions are enclosed.

Aqua Air Purifier

I have used mine for two winters and find it to be easy to fill, small enough to have room for it on my dresser, and happy to have the air cleaned and humidity added as an added bonus! It really is a nifty little machine. I will buy another one when this one goes. I like to use it for only when I sleep. Works great!
