Tayama Ultrasonic Humidifier

Tayama Ultrasonic HumidifierNo complaints! Works very well, it only has one little light that is easy to cover with a small piece of electrical tape if you like to keep in dark in the bedroom. It is nice and quiet. I don't use the spinning feature since I keep it in a corner and only need it to output in one direction. So far, so good! Great price, too!

Aura Cacia Essential Oil Lime

Essential Oil Lime - 0.5 oz - EssOilThis lime essential oil is just like opening a fresh lime, tart and sweet. It is just perfect for the lotions and soaps I make!

The smell of this oil is wonderful. Aura Acacia oils are high grade without the high price. I mixed mine with lemon and grapefruit to make a really great winter blues synergies blend.

Graco Cool Mist 1.5 Gallon Humidifier

Graco 1.5 Gallon Cool Mist HumidifierAs a child growing up, I always had the impeller type humidifiers in which a spinning tube would draw water inside of it and then toss it out in a visible mist. While these could be quite effective, they had the drawback of being loud and soaking everything around them.

When my daughter was born, we got an ultrasonic humidifier. The mist was a little finer, but again, it had the tendency to soak everything around it, and created scale on itself and its surroundings with tap water.

So this time I decided to go with the evaporative type of humidifier. With these, a fan draws moisture out of a wick filter that is then disbursed about the room. These types of humidifiers have the advantage of being self-regulating because evaporation is quicker in a dry room, slower in a moist room. They also trap the minerals and bacteria that may be in the water in the filter instead of spraying them in the room. The disadvantages are that they require costly filters, and you have to treat the water to keep bacteria, mold, and scale from building up on the filter and components. Both of these can be achieved with the addition of a few drops of humidifier treatments that can be found at your local Wal-Mart.

With all this in mind, I did lots of comparison shopping and finally turned to the Graco 1.5 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier. This compact unit appears to be much more durable than other brands at a similar price point, and since its components are dishwasher safe, it is much easier to give it a thorough cleaning. Although the unit could be considered loud, especially on its high setting, the low setting is quite pleasant to me, and provides a nice white noise to counteract background sounds. Most importantly, it does a good job of raising the humidity into comfortable levels during the winter. And with the water appropriately treated, there is NO mold on my filter and minimal mineral deposits.

Note: this is advertised as a "baby" humidifier, but its shape and design fit as well as any other humidifier in any room of your house. We bought two. One for our bedroom, the other for my daughter.

This is the one. I have searched awhile for a humidifier that would meet all my needs. I needed one that efficiently put moisture in the air without leaving pools of water. I needed one that did not leave a white residue on everything near to it. I need one that was not much trouble to maintain. Graco met my requirements.

I needed a humidifier because members of my family had very dry nasal passages. Sometimes it was so dry that we would have nosebleeds from the dry membranes. Dry nasal passages would result in breathing difficulty.

To add to our problems, we live in a dry climate. This is true for much of the rural areas in America especially west of the Mississippi. We have central air conditioning to keep cool in the summer and a furnace for warmth in the winter. Both of those appliances take moisture out of the air.

This Graco uses the "evaporative" moisture system. Essentially it blows air through a moist "wick", raising the humidity in the air.

I purchased some additives to prevent bacteria from breedingKaz Humidifier Bacteriostatic Treatment (8 oz.)

I also purchased some additives to prevent mold: Kaz KWT-8 Humidifier and Vaporizer Water Treatment

With these additives (just a few drops each time I fill the reservoir), and a weekly cleaning in my dishwasher, and I get exactly what my family needs.

I found this product to work great. This only downside being that it's loud, though this does make great white noise for our son. If you're looking for a unit that emits a cloud of mist you can see, you're looking in the wrong place. This is a cold air humidifier, NOT a hot steam humidifier.

The main reason I posted this review is because of the main negative review I saw regarding mold....The instructions state clearly to rinse the unit daily and wash it something like every week or so. If you let the unit run for a few weeks without washing it and it got mold, that's user error, not a problem with the product. I've run the unit for weeks straight rinsing the filter every few days and never noticed a spot of mold.

All in all, great product that performs exactly how a cool mist humidifier should.

We got this humidifier to use in our infant daughter's room. It is completely worthless! First of all, it does not appear to "humidify" anything at all. After running all night, the tank was still mostly full and the air in the nursery still noticably dry. The water that HAD been used from the tank was sitting in a huge puddle behind the unit after having leaked out the back. The water had apparently started leaking soon after turning the unit on and had sat there all night, because our hardwoods were warped. So now we not only have to pay to replace this with a decent humidifier, we have to pay to have our floors repaired.

I have used this humidifier several times and it is terrible. It leaks, is very loud, and the filter begins to get moldy after a day. I am now going to purchase a different humidifier.

The Protégé 25-50 Cigar Glasstop Humidor

The Protégé 25-50 Cigar Glasstop HumidorI gave this humidor as a gift, and he loved it. The quality is nice, the glass cover is an attractive element, but the hydrometer does not work.

This is my first humidor. As far as appearance, it looks great, nice and elegant. The wood smells great and looks like good quality. I'm having a hard time seasoning it but that could just be due to inexperience. Overall it's a good first humidor buy.

The box itself is very nice but like other reviews I agree the hrygrometer does not work. Still overall it is not a bad price for what you get.

this item is great and it looks great. However the problem about the hygrometer is not the problem like most are saying in this review. The main problem i have solved is that the crystal humidifier that it comes with is not good enough for the humidore. You need another humidifier in inside it to get optimum humidity. I added the gel humidifier inside with the one it came with and by the next day when i checked it it had exactly 70% humidity on the hygrometer.

I bought this product and its looks great. The outer finish is clean and elegant. However, the hygrometer didn't worked. I solved the problem very instantly because i purchased a digital hygrometer with the order. I just placed it in and that was it. I reached my humidity level, now all that's left is smoking one to see the results.

I strongly suggest you buy a digital hygromter with most of your humidors.

Slant Fin GF-210 Germ-free Warm Mist Room Humidifier

Slant Fin GF-210 Germ-free Warm Mist Room HumidifierGREAT: Germ-free! Great humidity level! Helps sinuses!

Others might say this unit requires a lot of TLC. It does. I am willing to do that to have a unit that works as well as this one does.

We have hard water so I clean mine out about every 48 hours. I do empty the bottom part out and rinse each time I refill the top part and I also rinse out the pad.

When I clean the unit, I let it sit in vinegar while I'm out doing shopping or whatever so that it doesn't seem like a long time (an hour or two or if I don't need it at night, overnight). It says in the manual 20-30 minutes, but that isn't long enough when you have hard water. By leaving the mineral pad in the unit while it's soaking in vinegar, it also cleans the pad. I have a little toothbrush I keep to clean the water sensors in the vinegar just before I rinse out the vinegar.

The top part that is filled with water, I clean about once a week. I put in about 1/2 cup of bleach and fill it with water. I let it sit while I am cleaning the bottom part out with vinegar. I rinse both the bottom part and pad out a few times to fully rinse out the vinegar and the top part out to rinse out the bleach.

If 99.99% bacteria-free humidity is a must for you for health reasons as it is for me...I don't think you'll mind keeping up with this. Keep in mind, I have mine running for a full 5 months out of the year (24/7 practically) so I probably need a little more upkeep on mine than most people.

After trying the many other humidifiers out there, Slant/Fin is by far my favorite. The others only put out germs into the air. Maybe they are easier to clean, but who wants to breathe in the white powder it spits out? Who wants to breathe in water that's sitting there with bacteria in it because it's not boiled to rid it of the bad germs?? NOT ME!

Originally bought this for our youngest daughter who gets asthma in the cold (we live in the NorthEast). We use it off and on seasonally and have had this for 3 years now. It works fine for us, I don't know how well it works at 'purifying the air', but we've had no problems. It does accumulate deposits frequently due to our hard water, but the white vinegar cleans it in no time. I would recommend it, we're just trying to find mineral pads for it now tho -hopefully they're still made.

Worked well for approx. two weeks and then I recieved an error message on the LED readout. Contacted the manufacture and was instructed to send humidifier to them (I paid the shipping cost). They send me a replacement. I havent used the replacement so my final opinion on this product is still yet to be determined.
