Essick Air #1002 Humidifier Replacement Parts Kit

This is just what my humidifier needed, hard to find in local stores and not to many found on the Web. I would purchase again if needed.

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7017 Hydrostick

I bought 2 of the 7135 humidifiers. I also bought extra silver sticks. Then, air-o-swiss substituted this POS stick for the original silver stick. Here's what I think. If you read this, it's only my opinion, not based on any independent research, but partly based on some rumors I read on the internet. Form your own judgement.

The original silver stick allowed silver to slowly come off, thereby inhibiting bacteria formation (meaning, you won't breathe in bad stuff). The new one is much smaller, just as expensive, and as far as I can see, I don't know what it does. Read the current description, which I quote as follwos:

This advanced water maintenance system keeps your humidifier operating at its highest level between recommended cleanings

Good for one year, the Hydro Stick ensures your humidifier's functionality while providing fresh humidification performance.

The Hydro Stick begins to function as soon as it comes into contact with water, even if the humidifier is switched off.

Using the Hydro Stick helps to maintain the appliance and improve the life expectancy of the humidifier.

Exchange the Hydro Stick a year after it has first been used.

Do you have any idea what that is saying? It says absolutely nothing specific about what it does. It reads like pure marketing verbiage, saying nothing.

The hydrostick clearly does not appear to have the surface area of the original silver stick. So what does it do, besides cost money? It seems like it's there to substitute for the original silver stick. Perhaps the original silver stick started costing air-o-swiss too much money, because silver price went up. Perhaps air-o-swiss was no longer permitted to sell this silver stick, for legal reasons. But whatever, I do not see any specific function associated with it, particularly when the description for the new demineralization cartridge talks about inhibiting microbe growth.

This new hydro stick doesn't work as well as the old (silver) stick. Using the old sticks & cleaning weekly worked great, but with this new hydro stick I've had to clean the humidifier every couple of days. The new hydro stick doesn't seem to be doing anything it's a total waste of money for me. I'd give it zero stars if I could. Sure hope they bring back the old silver sticks!

The hydro stick seems to work well and perhaps a bit better than the old product (ionic silver stick). It doesn't seem as well fitted to the machine, however (I have the AOS 7135 and it seems to float around instead of snapping in).

I'm very disappointed with Air-o-swiss on this joke of a replacement. I went to BBB for a replacement stick and to my surprise they were all gone. I was skeptical about the new hydrostick's antimicrobial abilities as it seems to be made out plastic. As suspected every few weeks I actually started cleaning moldy growth from my humidifier. I saw calcification build up with the silver stick but never mold or slime. Needless to say I'm very disappointed with this product and trying to figure out an alternative as I'm not paying another thirty dollars(with tax) for this product. Bring back the old one.

I completely agree with other reviewers that these aren't anywhere near as good as the original which came with my Air-O-Swiss humidifier. In fact, I'm not convinced they do anything at all. The original Silver Sticks were great at preventing slime and catching what little was produced. PLEASE bring back the original design.

I love my Air-O-Swiss humidifier, but after wasting almost $30 on this piece of junk, I'm not sure I'll be buying another when mine wears out one day. This really makes me wonder if Air-O-Swiss will soon be selling junky humidifiers, too.

1220 Herrmidifier Humidifier Filter Belt

Filter was narrower than original 7 1/4 inch should have been 8" so had to cut from length to make 1 inch piece to fill gap! Fortunately longer than original so cutting and piecing was possible but inconvenient. Dimensions should be 19 inch x 8 inch x 1 inch if was available this would be perfect!!

Luma Comfort HC12W Cool Mist Vase Humidifier

I admit, I originally found this look quite odd. There is a trend in humidifiers following this vase design (Brookstone just released a whole line of them). Luma has two models currently, this one, and a small black box.

This comes with three options for the neck, so you can have a short, medium or tall vase. I placed this on the floor, so I'm using the long neck, which releases moisture in the middle of the room (making this quite effective). The short neck would be appropriate if you want to place this on a table.

There are 8 levels of moisture you can choose from, which are indicated by a musical tone. This can be controlled on the front of the unit by pressing the touch sensor, or with the accompanying remote (this is an IR remote, so you will need line of sight to operate the unit). I keep the unit around between the 3rd and 5th level to fill my 1 bedroom manhattan apartment. It really does work well to battle the dry air caused by the old radiator system in my building.

The tank cap has a demineralization cartridge built in, so the algae buildup takes quite a long time to build up (not sure how long the cartridge lasts, though, but I'm guessing several months). I only clean this once a week despite running it 24/7, and it stays super clean. It comes with a small brush that can be used to clean hard to reach areas. Overall the cleaning process is quite painless compared to other humidifiers. The cleaning process should be one of your major concerns when you get a humidifier...you'll ultimately have to clean whatever model you get, but this is definitely much easier that many of the models out there. You won't really have to clean the neck, other than rinsing it out every two weeks or so.

Ultimately, I spend between 2-3 minutes a day maintaining this humidifier, to fill it up and set the moisure level. The tank can stand on its own upside down, which will allow you to run water into the unit without attending it. I place this in my kitchen sink, turn on the cold water, and go about my business for the next few minutes, then come back to a full tank and set it for the day. It's really easy.

I'm thankful for this humidifier. The manufacturer clearly thought about design, efficency, materials, and cleaning routines. I'm sure this will last quite a while.

The styling is great. It really works we now own three. Easy to fill and it operates with ease. We have a least one running all day and all night.

I've been using this non-stop now for over a month with zero issues. It's super quiet and looks great being displayed out in the open. The only thing this is missing is a built-in humidistat, but I realized this before buying and wasn't a concern of mine. I use a separate hygrometer to measure humidity and cycle it on/off as needed. I use this to compliment my central air humidifying system, which can't seem to get the humidity up to 40%, which is what I need given that the main reason for purchasing was to help protect musical instruments (guitars, piano) during winter months.

I'm currently using this in a large, open area about the max size stated in the description. I usually leave the mist setting on level 2 or 3 (out of 8), and it raises the humidity in this large room by about 3-5% over a day of running, which is all I need. I'm sure if you bump up the output setting it would be capable of more. Leaving it run non-stop on this setting requires refilling about every 24 hours.

In my opinion this doesn't have the output to replace a central humidifier on it's own, but it supplements one nicely if you have the need for a boost during winter months.

The only thing that would make this better is a built in humidistat, but it is not a deal breaker in my opinion. I am considering buying the Luma Comfort warm air unit for my bedroom since this one has worked out well so far.

This humidifier comes with a few options for height. The tallest option is 44", which is almost four feet. It looks elegant & is very solid. The remote works fine, but the unit makes a lot of loud beeps when adjusting the output or turning on or off, so it could be a problem if your spouse is sleeping. I believe it also makes a loud series of beeps when it's out of water, which is also not ideal in the middle of the night. It puts out a thick stream of mist 20-30" on the highest setting (see the pic I posted).

The reason I chose this was because the original filters from sears has had the material they were made of changed to an inferior material. That being said, this filter is constructed better with a aluminum grid to lend support to the filter so it won't collapse after many uses. They are a little tight to install into the humidifier, but with patience they will go in and perform. I have had them in now for a few weeks now and they are fine.

These filters are okay dimensional, but they are too weak physically. They would be much better if framed is some sort of stiffener just some form of a plastic boarder/brace would work I think.

My unit has an air horn that sits on the top of the filter, putting some downward weight on the filters. Also, the "retaining" edges provided by the Kenmore are far too small,making it difficult to keep the filters in place when reassembling.

Overall the life of the filter is also disappointing. I didn't set a clock on this number, but I believe the total run time could not be more than 20 hours times 30 days.or 600 hours (maybe 100 gallons of water). The output now is very low, as measured by a humidity gauge in an adjacent room, compared to what it did in the first few days it was ran.

I will look for a new dehumidifier before paying the cost of this units short lived filters/wicks again. ,

I bought 2 boxes of filters at SEARS. I opened them up to install them and found 1 of the filters was torn, and none of them really fit correctly, too short! I was back at SEARS within an hour to return the filters. Told them that the quality of their filters is terrible... The quality of the filters I purchased thru Amazon is by far, much better... Better fit & sturdier!

It's a very pretty humidifier, but it's hard to see the water level and if you over fill, the water spills all over the top of the stove. For us that is a problem, as our stove top is rarely cool and it's hard to clean the hard water stains off when it is. Vinegar works well, but it leaves a film that turns white when the surface heats up again. But, I suppose the worst thing, the thing that gave it a 3 star in my opinion, is that it rocks on the surface when the water boils because the bottom is not flat.

Another other issue is that the photo shows the trivet, but if you read carefully, the trivet is not part of this offer. So, if you have a husband who sees a picture and likes what he sees, you may not get what you see. Another thing, and it's minor, but had I been ordering this, I would have noticed, it doesn't come with free shipping, so it cost around $70 for this item. I bit pricey for a Made in China product.

No, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I'm anxiously awaiting the tea pot humidifier to come back in stock. But, who knows, it may have the same issues ;-(

These things work great except you have to re-charge them once a week or less. Otherwise they do what they say they will do.

My more permanent solution is to build a humidity controlled enclosed glass case for all my stringed instruments to sit. The big plus with the cabinet type case is the instruments will get played more often since they will be more accessible.
