Whirlpool 8212501 PUMP-DRAIN

Whirlpool 8212501 PUMP-DRAINAfter 7 seasons of removing water from my dehumidifiers by hand I was ready to try a product like this.

The idea behind this product is simple. It works on the same principle as a sump pump. When the water reaches a certain point in the pumps well area,a quick burst of pumping action causes the water to flow up a hose and out to wherever you route the end of the hose-in my case through a drilled hole outside my basement area to the outside of my house.

Installation was easy enough.I simply cut the hose to my needed length, attached it to the unit, attached the other hose connection to my dehumidifiers hose connector (for condensation that comes out of the actual dehumidifier) and plugged the unit in.Let me mention(no laughing please)that I broke my nose during this simple installation by having too tight of a hole drilled to the outside for the outtake hose.I was pulling the hose with a needle nose plier to pull through the hole and ended up smashing my nose when the plier slipped and my knuckle came smashing on to my nose.I needed a nose job anyway...

Anyway, the unit works really well and now I can leave home for days at a time and know that my basement is at a safe 45% humidity level.Without the unit turned on it would be twice that amount at least.

Just be aware that the dehumidifier pump needs to be physically lower than the dehumidifier. The gravity will force the condensation down the hose in to the dehumidifier pump.I made the mistake of leaving both level with each other and found the the water was just building up and began running out on the the floor.

Besides the pliers hitting my face (I`ll remember it every time that pump turns itself on) and having to figure out that gravity needs to be used to make things work correctly, I am so happy with the results. If it lasts a few years it will be worth the 96 $ (shipping included) I paid for the pump.

Editors noteIt is now Oct of 09` and the pump continues to work perfectly. It has been on for the last two seasons (Apr-Oct of 08 and 09) and still no problems.

2nd editors note-It`s now May 2011 and unit still working perfectly

This pump worked as advertised several years but, as others have written, the plastic connection between the impeller blade and the magnet that the motor spins broke. This caused the motor to stay running but not pump anything. No harm done as I have a water sensor on the floor that alerted me to the overflowing reservoir. Tried using epoxy to fix it to no avail.

I agree with "Broke": after less than one year, the plastic impeller shaft assembly disintegrated.

This item worked great for a year then it broke. The motor was good but the assembly that actually pumped the water was cheap and wore out. Not a good value for the price.

The pump is fine , and the price was very good. The discharge hose supplied with the pump was inferior, and had to be replaced with one that was not so badly compressed. Whirlpool shouyld supply a better vinyl discharge hose for these pumps

I brought this unit at Walgreens for $20. It was 50% off from the original price. This unit is perfect. Its quiet,it takes 1.5 gallon for longer run, adjustable output and it blends in with the other toys my kid have that are stack along the wall. I used to have the Sunbeam brand which it only lasted 2yrs. i kept it clean at all times but it just stop producing the fog. i didn't bother looking up the part so i ended up throwing it away. Hope this unit will last for many years and I'm glad I got this for $20.

Honeywell 32001876-001 Solenoid Valve Kit

Honeywell 32001876-001 Solenoid Valve Kit
  • HE360 Solenoid Valve Assembly
  • Honeywell humidifier replacement part
  • Used with HE360, HE365

I thought a bad solenoid was the problem with my Honeywell humidifier. It wasn't. A hard water deposit had plugged a the pinhole sized inlet on the fitting that goes into my solenoid. Once I turned off the power and water, remove the water line and the inlet fitting; I cleaned out the pinhole and the little black screen inside the silver fitting and could blow through it. Put it all back together and the solenoid was was working like a champ again. It is awesome that this solenoid is available here, just make sure that that is really the problem first. I fixed mine for $0.00.

When my Honeywell central humidifier continued to flow water even when turned off, Honeywell customer service helped me to troubleshoot it, with the result we concluded that the solenoid valve needed to be replaced. Honeywell gave me the part number to order and even a link to the Amazon listing. After checking other sources for the same valve, it became apparent that Amazon had the best price and delivery, so I placed the order. The item was delivered earlier than projected and installed easily.

When I noticed our whole house humidifier wasn't working, I did some troubleshooting and figured out the old solenoid wasn't working. Swapping it out for this new one was extremely easy and got our system working again. Best of all, fixing it myself saved a bunch of money instead of calling a repair man to come look at it.

There is not much on a humidifier that would cause it to break. Bad circuit or the solenoid...this fixed it right up. Our problem was that the solenoid was stuck open and water was constantly running through it and not just when the heating unit was running like it should have. Our water bill was very high because of the broken solenoid.
