Uniflame 3 QT. Cast Iron Humidifier, Chrome handle

Uniflame 3 QT. Cast Iron Humidifier, Chrome handleIt heats water which is exactly what it is meant to do. A couple items I would change on it if I could. It would be handy if the handle would stay upright as it is shown in the photo but it's no big deal-breaker for me. The lid is bit tricky to open when adding more water to it (we leave it on the stove, on the trivet) if you're wearing hot gloves or a oven mit again not a serious problem. A little potpouri and a couple quarts of water and your off an runnig. Be carefull not to put too much water in it as it tends to boil out the snout if you do.

Party on Garth.

This humidifier is terrible. Not only did it not get hot enough to steam, it rusted immediately. We are having better luck with a regular cast iron pan.

Whirlpool 8212501 PUMP-DRAIN

Whirlpool 8212501 PUMP-DRAINAfter 7 seasons of removing water from my dehumidifiers by hand I was ready to try a product like this.

The idea behind this product is simple. It works on the same principle as a sump pump. When the water reaches a certain point in the pumps well area,a quick burst of pumping action causes the water to flow up a hose and out to wherever you route the end of the hose-in my case through a drilled hole outside my basement area to the outside of my house.

Installation was easy enough.I simply cut the hose to my needed length, attached it to the unit, attached the other hose connection to my dehumidifiers hose connector (for condensation that comes out of the actual dehumidifier) and plugged the unit in.Let me mention(no laughing please)that I broke my nose during this simple installation by having too tight of a hole drilled to the outside for the outtake hose.I was pulling the hose with a needle nose plier to pull through the hole and ended up smashing my nose when the plier slipped and my knuckle came smashing on to my nose.I needed a nose job anyway...

Anyway, the unit works really well and now I can leave home for days at a time and know that my basement is at a safe 45% humidity level.Without the unit turned on it would be twice that amount at least.

Just be aware that the dehumidifier pump needs to be physically lower than the dehumidifier. The gravity will force the condensation down the hose in to the dehumidifier pump.I made the mistake of leaving both level with each other and found the the water was just building up and began running out on the the floor.

Besides the pliers hitting my face (I`ll remember it every time that pump turns itself on) and having to figure out that gravity needs to be used to make things work correctly, I am so happy with the results. If it lasts a few years it will be worth the 96 $ (shipping included) I paid for the pump.

Editors noteIt is now Oct of 09` and the pump continues to work perfectly. It has been on for the last two seasons (Apr-Oct of 08 and 09) and still no problems.

2nd editors note-It`s now May 2011 and unit still working perfectly

This pump worked as advertised several years but, as others have written, the plastic connection between the impeller blade and the magnet that the motor spins broke. This caused the motor to stay running but not pump anything. No harm done as I have a water sensor on the floor that alerted me to the overflowing reservoir. Tried using epoxy to fix it to no avail.

Buy Whirlpool 8212501 PUMP-DRAIN Now

I agree with "Broke": after less than one year, the plastic impeller shaft assembly disintegrated.

This item worked great for a year then it broke. The motor was good but the assembly that actually pumped the water was cheap and wore out. Not a good value for the price.

Want Whirlpool 8212501 PUMP-DRAIN Discount?

The pump is fine , and the price was very good. The discharge hose supplied with the pump was inferior, and had to be replaced with one that was not so badly compressed. Whirlpool shouyld supply a better vinyl discharge hose for these pumps

**PINK PEARL** Amazing Portable Humidifier & Mist **MADE IN KOREA**

**PINK PEARL** Amazing Portable Humidifier & Mist **MADE IN KOREA**This is an amazing product!

Just conect it to a computer usb port and voila, a nice almost smoke like textured steam comes out without noise only wit very little hissing.

I hook it on a volvic water bottle (1.5 L) I happened to have around.

The instructions say it fits evian water bottle in usa.

It runs at least 10 hrs on my volvic bottle because this bottle is wider and contains more water for it's height.

Great to carry it around to your car, office, home, and I hope I can hook it up to usb port in airplane too! I am planning to buy more to put it both at home and office etc and to give away as a gift. Korea rules!

Skuttle 000-1317-091 Wick For 2000,2001 & 2002

Skuttle 000-1317-091 Wick For 2000,2001 & 2002Not a lot I can say except it's exactly as the original wick and that's a good thing. I think there was a minor mixup with the order because the wicks (ordered two) were originally on back order then arrived in two separate shipments of boxes that were much larger than necessary. Both could have easily fit into a regular business envelope. No complaints at all about the product.

Honeywell® Replacement Activated Carbon Pre-Filter for Enviracaire Air Cleaners

Honeywell® Replacement Activated Carbon Pre-Filter for Enviracaire Air Cleaners
  • Sold Indivdually as 1 Each
  • Dimensions 8.40" H x 8.27" W x 2.76" D

At the time of ordering, the picture showed a Honeywell filter. Manufacturer was listed as Honeywell. Description indicated Honeywell. Title said Honeywell. The item that was actually shipped was a generic store brand not Honeywell. Highly misleading! This is straight from the product page: "Product Specifications Brand Name: Honeywell"

That does not appear to indicate "US PreFilter® Brand."

The filter LOOKS OK, but looks can be deceiving. When I pulled off the velcro tabs, to cut it down to size, some of the filter mesh came off with the tab. I cut that part of the filter off. I have bad allergies, and I so I need a good filter. I am willing to pay the Honeywell premium to get the known, good Honeywell quality. Perhaps this is as good, but I can't really tell. Regardless, all things on the page indicated that this was a HONEYWELL filter, not a generic house brand! If I had wanted a generic house brand, I could have ordered a cheaper one. There are plenty to choose from.

This isn't a case of not reading the product description, or being careless. I am fully aware of the generic house brands, and was very careful to read all of the page, multiple times, before ordering. This is deceptive advertising, in my opinion.

I am going to attempt to upload a scan of the very small slip of paper that accompanied the filter. The filter was not in a box (despite their picture), it was simply wrapped in thin plastic. Not shrink-wrap, just thin plastic.

Initially I received the part for my Enviracaire filter (1050x), which is #1050x series. However it did not fit the circumference of the HEPA filter. Kitty Hawk enterprise (the seller) was kind enough to send me a replacement, that did fit. The box that contained the filter that fit, was smaller(although it has the same part #). I suspect a packaging error of some kind. I rated the seller (fair), because of the problems that I had of not being able to use the air purifier, however in retrospect I think that there was no error on the sellers part, since I know of no way to change my rating, I like to change his service as excellent.

The mist doesn't shoot out as far as I liked. The mist sips around the pink pig face (where it meets the plastic) so the puts like 10% of the mist on the pig itself.

The noise is a lot louder than other humidifiers I've tried in the past. I wouldn't want to sleep with it in my bedroom, but it's somewhat fine during the day.

Overall, it does provide the humidity I need, but I wouldn't buy another when this one blows up.

UPDATE: After 6 months of usage, this product did blow up. Never buying this brand ever again...

This is adorable, but that's the only good thing about it unfortunately. The "on" light is bright red, and it's so bright that my daughter's room was lit up red. We tried putting blue painters tape over the light, and that helped a little. Also, the mist didn't shoot out with enough power to moisturize the air. No matter what setting we had it on, it just fell out of the pig's nose and got everything below it wet. Sadly, we had to send it back. We opted for the pink crane teardrop, and it's working out very well.

NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Room Dehumidifier

NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Room DehumidifierI bought this humidifier February 2010. Since the spring, it was in constant use in the basement. It was quiet and smaller than my old one (which lasted about 6 years). I hooked up a hose for continuous use. It worked really well until last week (September 2010), when the compressor quit. It still registers the humidity, the fan blows and the motor gets hot. But no water is coming out. I tried to find out about warranty, but the "owner's manual" does not even list the company, much less give warranty information or how to contact them. A web search of "NewAir" only brought up places that sell them, not how to contact the company. So now I am stuck buying a second dehumidifier in less than a year.

Bought in April '10 Nov '10 doesn't work. Can't locate the Manufacturer. Overpriced junk. Runs nice and quiet but that is all it does. I have a fedders that is loud that is in another home that has been working 24-7 for 4 years now that cost me $79 at Walmart. You would think the seller would do its research on a product before they sell. I'm hoping the seller will replace it or refund. Crossing my fingers.

Buy NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Room Dehumidifier Now

I bought two of these units in February 2012 from Air & Water. I placed one unit upstairs and the other downstairs and connected them each via drain hose to a roughly 20 gallon sealed Rubbermaid bin.

I have the humidistat on each unit set at 45%, which means that with the high humidity in Houston, TX, both units should run nonstop. Several Hygrometers in my house all show that indoor relative humidity exceeded 50% over 95% of the time during the test period I've had these units running.

At first I was thrilled with how quiet and compact these units were. But then something wasn't adding up. I was emptying under 10 pints per day per unit vs. the 40 pints advertised, even though the units were running non-stop (which I verified) at an electricity cost of roughly $17 per month each unit.

Air & Water's website claims that each unit will cover 2,500 square feet. If true, then 2 units should cover my 5,000 square foot house. But they don't. Not even close. I bought these units based on the advertised pints per day and square foot coverage, which if true, would make the units quite energy efficient. But when the unit produces under 10 pints vs. 40 advertised, that makes it extremely energy inefficient compared to other dehumidifiers.

In summary......

Pros:

Great price, especially after coupon codes and promotions from Air & Water

Compact

Super quiet at first (although has been making funny noises lately)

Cons:

Produces less than 10 pints per day, vs. 40 claimed

Actual pints per kWh of electricity makes this unit less than 1/4 as energy efficient as advertised.

The water collection bucket in the unit is extremely small. A continuous drain hose connection is available, but the drain hose must be purchased separately. The instructions say to use a 9mm inside diameter drain hose, but this doesn't fit. What is needed is a 3/8" inside diameter hose.

Reviews on the Air & Water website for this product are fishy. Even the very best products offered on Amazon have their share of 1-star reviews. Where are the 1-star reviews for this unit on the Air & Water website? By way of comparison, at the time of this writing, 1/3 of the reviews at Amazon for this product are either 1 or 2 star.

Consumer Reports does not rate this model. According to their testing, Frigidaire (FAD704DUD), Haier (DE65EKL), and Soleus (SGDEH702) models rated the highest. NewAir appears to be a store brand of Air & Water.

Bought the AD-400 about 9 months ago. It now flashes that it is full and won't run even though it is empty. I've tried maneuvering the tank to no avail. Can't find any information on the web to try to contact the manufacturer, Newair. Try to find this company, you won't be able to. I was very happy with this unit until it quit. Since this company is invisible to the consumer, I'd advise against buying their product since they can't be contacted in case of problems like I'm having.

Want NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Room Dehumidifier Discount?

I purchased this dehumidifier for mainly for my downstairs and wanted one quiet enough for use in my bedroom upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. Honestly, my refrigerator is louder. The last I purchased removed lots of water, but it can be heard throughout the house when it was running. So i only used it when needed. The NewAir is super quiet. I often walk by it to make sure its on.

The NewAir works great in all weather conditioners . Running the central air is not necessary since the house is not hot. So I use a dehumidifier, which makes the house seem less clammy. I would recommend the Newair AD 400 to anyone who is looking for a small, really quiet, relatively light, dehumidifier that works well without with out excess noise.
