Because there are minerals in tap water, when my 'ultrasonic' humidifier pounds it into vapor, it also produces lots of fine, whitish dust, so I either had to use only distilled water in the thing, or get a different type of humidifier. It's the difference between paying a couple of dollars a gallon or a couple of cents, so I invested in this thing.

I was a little worried that the felt pads would get slimy or moldy, but I've had it a couple of weeks and see no sign of that happening. Whenever the reservoir gets really low, I lay the unit on its side in the dishwasher and run it through the cycle, then refill it from the tap and pop it back on the heat register. That seems to be all the maintenance it requires. My ultrasonic humidifier has to be taken apart and wiped clean with vinegar water, so that's another point in this thing's favor.

My G-Midifier works every bit as well as the electronic humidifier ever did, so I've decided to order a second one, and will probably wind up having one in every room.

I purchase the G-Midifier on Feb. 22-2012 after purchasing an GE Humidifer which was very noisy and the filter turn orange very quickly. I returned the GE Humidifer and bought the G-Midifier. My wife and I could not be more please and satisfied. Works a lot better. The humidifier gauge tells the true story between the two. My wife and I suffer from dry eyes during the winter because our heating system dried the room atmosphere out. The G-Midifier took care of the problem without the noise and the constant cleaning of the GE Humidifier. We need to fill the G-Midifier about every two days because the evaporation is great. The G-Midifier is very easy to clean, just throw the pads in the washing machine on gentle cycle and then let them dry out and put back in the Midifier. If the pads get to orange form the city water mineral build up just soak in vinegar and good as new, although we have not had this problem yet. We could not be more satisfied. Recommend this humidifier to anyone who wants an effective way to humidify their home without the noise and fuss of a cleaning nightmare. The G-Midifier web site has extra pads for little cost for replacement later down the road if needed. The G-Midifier has the same or better evaporation methed as the ones with noisy fans. Evaporation is the purpose of humidifying the room and one with the fan does not evaporate as fast as the G-Midifier believe it or not, just try it and see!!!

I live in a very dry place. And I was hoping (foolishly) that this product can really work for me. I happened to have a room that is about 200 square feet. First I have placed it near the bed above the side table. Well it didn't work at all. Then I have placed it above the heating vent as described in the instruction. The humidity of the room has improved by a single digit so I won't say it does not provide any moisture. But it was not sufficient for me. Just to be fair to the maker, I have tried for almost two months. Well the result has been the same did not work. If you live in dry area just like me, please do not waste your money on this.

the G-Midifier is a wunderful product, it preforms as well if not better than I ever expected. I use it in the bedroom and my dry nose has virtualy disapeard. We bought one of these several years ago, love it, and use it all winter long. A huge benefit is that it can be washed in the dish washer we just put the whole thing in on its side and run it through the cycle lots cheaper than our previous version because the humidifier pads can be cleaned. This works by placing it on top of the floor register.

At first glance this is not a bad little humidor for under $20 bucks. But when you compare it to similar priced boxes by company's like quality imports also available on Amazon this thing falls WAY short. The box is made of Very Little wood i'd say 98% of it construction is some sort of particle board. The inside is lined with the thinnest of cedar veneer and the outside paper thin almost sticker like cherry wood veneer. The Seal is a joke as there is not much of a lip to create a tight seal. I have a small unit from Quality Importers I got on Amazon that actually had small magnets inside the Real Wood lid and body that gave extra seal and was about the same price as this unit. My recommendation Even if you are a casual smoker or novice. Save yourself and your cigars the trouble pay an extra $5 bucks and get the Quality imports version.

This is a great buy! Much cheaper than available elsewhere! The only issue is that there is no instruction manual for how to fill the chamber and what to do, so you're on your own with that!

Lasko 7050 Misto Outdoor Misting Fan

Picked up one of these Lasko Misters for a Memorial Day Barbeque we were hosting when the temperatures were supposed to be in the 90's and there was a "Heat Warning" for our area. I HATE hot weather and spend most of my Summers indoors with the A/C on.

We set up the Lasko Misting Fan as we were getting ready for our guests. The mist definitely made me feel cooler... but I did notice the deck was getting quite wet near the unit. We tried adjusting everything the tilt of the fan, the level of spray (3 levels) and the amount that our hose was turned on. Nothing seemed to keep the deck from periodically getting wet sun and wind would temporarily let things dry up but it kept puddling. So we set it up just off our deck on a ladder that way most of the 'excess' water fell on the bushes along the deck, and only a light spray got to the deck and the things and people on the deck. The oscillating fan is OK but not really noticeable. I would definitely recommend putting the unit up off the ground.

I did note, about 6 hours after we turned it on, that a table about 10 feet away from the unit with a vinyl tablecloth was quite WET! It had to be wiped really well with towels before we could use it for a card game. However, 6 hours of misting .... it's not surprising at all that it was wet.

Most of our guests were a good 20 feet from the unit and definitely felt the mist (and commented on it in a positive way.)

After dark we turned it off, and as we were cleaning up several of us noted that we really felt the difference. I don't know what this will do to our water bill, but it was nice to have it hooked up to a hose and not have to fill a storage tank constantly throughout the day.

As long as this unit continues to work after this initial outing, I will definitely consider it money well spent. ~$150 was kind of steep but literally our health was at stake today. A trip to the ER for heat stroke could easily cost more than that.

After reading reviews i decided to give it a try. I live in Florida and have a court yard pool that gets very hot in the summer. The pool deck is approx. 20 by 35. this fan makes it feel about 10 degrees cooler. I put the fan on a small table and it does make the deck wet in front of the fan. but with the humidity at 90% what do you expect. It is a great fan and very quit at high speed. You will be happy with this fan especially in a climate with lower humidity.

over priced.... nozzle head's orifices were too big, the amount of water that it was dripping out of the nozzle was so great, i think a $30 metal fan box and a garden hose, running at low, would've had the same affect.

This item looks nice, is easy to use, and seems to do what it claims. Can select any combo of ozone (purify-5 levels), ion, UV, and fan speeds, plus it is fairly quiet. Have had for 1 month and the ozone generator seems to be fading, so I am not sure about the product longevity...

My office was looking at this air purifier and luckily read a popular consumer magazine first. This is one of two brands they labeled as totally unacceptable. According to their tests, this ozone creating purifier (this is how some filters work) produced unacceptable levels of ozone in the room based on EPA and FDA guidelines and recommendations.

But feel free to research and decide for yourself if this is the air purifier for you. Although you will find for all air "purifiers" that the claims are not true and air "somewhat better" is a more accurate product description.

I have been using this unit for a long time and have no problems with this unit, I like the way it cleans the air, when you cook items like Fish, or Bacon, the odors can linger a long time, with this air filter we just turn it on for 20 min or so and its fresh air all around, I know some say that it produces ozone, and ozone is bad, but so is everything to someone, they said the ozone layer was too thin, then they said that the earth was heating up because of ozone, but really there is no scientifically credible evidence to suggest either of those things is true. This air cleaner for the price does not do a good job. There is also a big problem with white powder building up on the fan in front and no way to clean it off. Eventually all the blades get coated and the fan squeaks.

He told me that although this was used it worked PEREFECTLY! Ya sure...The unit works allright, ONLY with the remote. That means you can't set the clock...it is not a function of the remote. Also, there were loose screws inside.

The product that I received was not functioning properly. It is supposed to be a diffuser, but it does not diffuse anything. The seller was not professional at all in dealing with emails. I would not want to deal with this seller again. It's hard to understand their English.

You can't use your own essential oils in it and unless it's right beside you, you hardly experience any of the humidifier. The LED "on/power" lights are extremely bright, so if you're use to a dark bedroom, you'll need to put something in front of it.

This product comes from China. It does not work, but to send it back, I need to send it to China. That will probably cost more than I paid for the product. I will always check to see if the product comes from another country and will not order it.

I have had a few ultrasonic aroma diffusers and this one seems to last the longest. I leave it on all day and night and just keep refilling it. The mister on this diffuser works pretty good too!!

Oregon Scientific THGR122NX Wireless Temperature and Humidity Sensor

This Oregon Scientific THGR122NX sensor is OK. It reports data back to my base station steadily, and so far in the four months I have had it, the unit has worked reliably. For indoor usage where temperature and humidity don't vary too quickly, I think this would be a fine unit. I used some humidity calibration standards and the sensor readings can be accurate if you are willing to wait for the sensor to stabilize over about 12-24 hours.

My main complaint is that the humidity sensor is not very accurate for typical outdoor use. I live in a climate that gets hot and humid summers. At night time, the humidity almost always goes to nearly 100%, and in the day time it can be quite humid too (70%). It would be nice to have an accurate outdoor sensor to know when it would be pleasant to open the windows without letting in too much humidity.

The first problem is that the sensor's reported humidity level hits a maximum at about 88%. Anything above this reading indicates total saturation. Loss of sensor range is fail.

The second problem is that once the sensor has been saturated, it takes some to dry out. This is known as hysteresis. The true humidity may be dropping, but the THGR122NX reports the same value for an hour or more. This is important when the outdoor humidity is changing quickly in the day-night cycle. Sensor readings can be off by more than 10%; calculated dew points can be off by 5-10 degrees F.

The sensor is probably good for indoor use where we normally don't let the humidity get very high, or to change very quickly. But for outdoor use it just can't cope very well with high humidity or naturally changing conditions.

Product works as expected. From my experience Oregon Scientific Weather Stations are one of the best. The batteries last over a year and they are very accurate. After comparing different brands that people I know had I settled on a Oregon Scientific BAR388HGA and am very satisfied with it. I bought this sensor mainly to monitor the temperature in a second floor room. The sensor is approximately 60 feet away, up one floor and through several wall from the main unit, and it work very well.

Overall decent product and displays. Loved the unit for about three months, then the sensor stopped transmitting. Changed batteries, reset, changed batteries again. No luck except when sensor is within 6 inches of base. Poor sensor makes this worthless.

Overall I'm happy with this purchase. It works as advertised and was pretty easy to setup / configure. I have 2 sensors setup so I can see the outdoor temp and the temp in my baby's room. One thing that really irritated me was that the remote sensors don't display the same temp. What I mean by this is that when I had both sensors side by side they were 2 degrees off in temp and humidity. They were placed 12 inches apart in the same room so that I could set them up and see how this all worked. I called the mfg and they told me that this is normal and that no 2 thermometers will ever display the same temp. I guess I just have to deal with that.
