Dr Infrared Heater Portable Quartz + PTC Infrared Space Heater - 1500W, Dual Heating System, UL Lis

Dr Infrared Heater Portable Quartz + PTC Infrared Space Heater - 1500W, Dual Heating System, UL Listed.I bought this from eBay for around $190. I have two other electric space heaters so comparison was an easy task. I bought it for our high ceiling bedroom which is about 300 sf. Ceramic heater was useless because hot air would rise up. Then I bought a Holmes Infrared Quartz Heater from Wal-Mart , this was a lot better than the ceramic heater but the fan was really noisy and there was no way to turn it off. Holmes Quartz Heater gives you SUN Like heat and the heat does not rise up like ceramic heaters. Anyways it was way too noisy, You can't have a restful sleep with that thing. Still I thought there was something right with the infrared heaters. Then I looked into Edenpure and other more expensive infrared heaters. They looked promising now that I was already sold on the idea of infrared heating but they were really expensive. Then I looked at eBay and found Dr Heater. Customer Feedback was pretty good so I decided to give it a shot. It arrived in 5 days and I first tried it in our living room which is about 700 sf when kitchen included. Dr Heater was OK, I was not too impressed but still felt it was doing something different. It did its magic when I moved it to our bedroom. In about 10 minutes our bedroom was already warm , and outside temp was 35-40 F. It was set on Auto but later that night I set it to LOW because it was getting really hot and yet thermostat kept showing 66F degrees and never shut off because I'd set it to 70. SO I am not sure if the thermostat was defective or what, it sure felt more than 66 F. Anyways when I set it at LOW it was REALLY comfortable and most importantly QUITE. That's the best thing about this heater, it is quite and you can place it in your bedroom. No other heater could heat our bedroom on LOW because of high ceilings. Dr Heater did it. Overall I give it 4 stars, I was going to give 5 but I still cannot figure out if the thermostat is good or not so there you have 4 and, it is an honest review not like the first review that is obviously written by one of the Dr Heater employees :)

I have an Iheater and the Dr. Heater and I like the Dr. Heater better. They are both good units but the Dr. Heater is smaller and easier to carry around from place to place if needed and the wheels underneath are spaced closer together thus easier to place on top of other units such as a speaker unit that is not in use or a large air purifier that I have thus not taking up any floor space if needed. It also blows heat out harder than the Iheater but in the end, I think they both kick out about the same amount of heat energy.

The Dr. Heater is made of real wood also, where the Iheater and allot of others on the market have plastic shells.

Keep in mind folks that these are just space heaters BUT they are more power efficient and do kick out a bit more heat than the other numerous space heaters that I have and I have quite a few unfortunately... I have found that they do heat very large areas by them selves but do take a while to bring it up to temperature but once there, they are pretty amazing for their portable size and the amount of wattage they use.

They are commonly used in combination with your main heat source so that the main heat source runs less, thus saving you money. The heat is a very comfortable heat and does not dry the air. It seems to disperse the heat much better than space heaters that dry the air. The heat seems to get around allot better but will still be warmer near the heat source of course.

I think if one looks at these as what they really are, in which is an efficient little space heater that kicks out a bit more heat with a more comfortable feel that disperses a bit better will be well happy with these new type heaters. If you look around you can get some killer deals on the Dr. Heater and think the price will come down in years ahead on this new technology as they become more predominant in the market place.

I like both of my heaters but I like the Dr. Heater better because it seems to blow better and whether it actually kicks out more actual heat in the end, I don't know but it makes me want to believe it does...LOL... And the bit smaller size allows me to put it in more spaces than the larger Iheater and the real wood is just a touch more American, not to mention it is well over a $100.00 cheaper thus leaving some money in your pocket to take momma out to dinner before you come home to a nicely efficient warmed house... My vote goes to Dr. Heater and if I get another it will be the same.

C. Ferrisi may not quite understand what PTC is. I looked it up. "Positive temperature co-efficient PTC heating elements are small ceramic stones with self temperature limiting characteristics. PTC stones have fast heating response times and plateau once the pre-defined reference temperature is reached." The infrared lights produce the heat. This type of heating is how you can heat a large area without creating a huge electric bill. Which is why we have a couple around the house so our furnace (which is electric) will not kick on as often. It saves electricity without having to run around the house in a parka! LOL

Ok, I order the heater and they ship a used (obviously returned) unit out to me. I contact them about this and they give me the run around and keep asking if the unit is damaged. I ask why the unit was returned, they don't answer. I ask them to CC Amazon on the emails they are sending, they don't. They offer me $30 to keep the used unit, I say no, just send me a shipping label to send it back for a refund. They say "we don't send out shipping labels." I contact Amazon and ask them to step in. They send me a shipping label. I tried out the unit and it didn't heat even half of the square footage it promised. What a disaster.

I ordered the portable Far Infrared Heater Model DR-968 on 2-22-10. I received the heater in a timely manner. I began using the heater the day it was received. The heater only worked two (2) days. My attempts to get a replacement were not answered until I sent an e-mail through Amazon.com. I then received an e-mail from the company stating a replacement was being shipped out that very day. Waited a week and still no replacement heater. Sent another e-mail only to be told my replacement heater had not been sent. There had been a mix-up and the paper work had gotten misplaced. However, my replacement heater would be sent out that day or latest the next. I just received my replacement heater (3-31-10). I check it and for now it is working. Hope this heater will not stop after a couple of days. It is my opinion, had it not been for one of my e-mails going thur Amazon.com I would still be waiting on a replacement heater. I do not have a lot of trust in this company. Grady W. Conner

Suncourt DB6GTP Inductor Inline Duct Fan

Suncourt DB6GTP Inductor Inline Duct FanI had already purchased two suncort inline fans to help in the cold air return in my cape code style home and they are doing a good job so I am adding two more fans to help with getting the air up to the upper level. They are working good.

Used this fan for a unique vent solution. I have a small bathroom that couldn't accept a conventional bath fan due to problems with the ceiling. The total duct run is 35' to the outside wall, semi-straight run w/ insulated 6" flex duct. The fan is 25' from the outside wall and 10' from the bathroom located near the attic access in case it should ever need maintenance. It is unbelievably quiet. Without putting your hand up to the vent and feeling the airflow you wouldn't even know it is running. It does make a little noise which would undoubtedly be amplified through hard ducts. It pulls the perfect amount of air for a small bathroom but any bigger than say an 8 X 10 room and you need a bigger fan.

I had to push air from bathroom over 30' due to construction constraints. This in line fan did the job perfectly. Bathroom fan switch turns on both fans simultaneously..

BreathableBaby Breathable Mesh Crib Liner

BreathableBaby Breathable Mesh Crib Liner, WhiteThis is the first review I've submitted (even tho' I buy on Amazon.com a lot). I think I first read about the concept of mesh bumpers in Consumer Reports. I was thinking maybe I'd just go without bumpers, but at about 5 months, my daughter started moving a lot in her crib, and I'd find her in the morning or in the middle of the night sleeping sideways in the crib, with her legs sticking out the side of the crib. At first, I thought it was sort of funny and decided it really wasn't dangerous, but one night, I found that she had used her new rolling skills to roll over onto her tummy. But she not only was on her tummy, she had her legs sticking out the side of the crib (almost up to her thighs) and thus was stuck on her tummy. This really scared me, as she wouldn't have been able to roll onto her back, and this could have increased her SIDS risk. I started using the mesh bumpers within days after that and I feel SO much better now. Legs and arms remain in the crib. I waited to submit this review a few weeks because I wanted to make sure that she couldn't get her legs or arms stuck in the bumper, but no, the mesh (altho' not 100% taut) has not presented any new hazards. It even works well with the drop-side (the dropside slides down with the mesh bumper still in place).

One thing to note: I never could tell from the online description whether this product had any cushioning. It does have some cushion to it, but if that's the main thing you need a bumper for, a traditional bumper would be better for that problem.

GREAT product.

After a couple of times looking into my daughters cribs and finding them sleeping with their face smooshed righ up against their traditional bumper and almost having a heart attack while picking them up to make sure they were still breathing, I decided to take off their bumpers.

Their cribs are slatted all the way around and I soon learned that no bumper was just as unsafe as having one. Both of my girls got their arms & legs stuck ALL the time. Since I was so worried about them getting stuck I came in their room at every little peep and was sleeping on egg shells.

Thankfully I did because one night my daughter started crying and I rushed in to find her with her right arm sticking out the side of the crib and she was FACE DOWN and unable to push herself up off of her face with only her left arm because her right arm was stuck outside of the slat and could not push against anything. That was something I never wanted to happen again and thankfully I was going into their room at every little peep. Both of my daughters ended up doing that again the next day while my husband was at work. So I decided once my husband got home we were going to the store and buying some right away.

They were very easy to put on and fit our cribs great. There are a few spaces were there is a gap but they are in the corners and not where my daughters would get their arms stuck while sleeping.

FINALLY my daughters were not getting their arms or legs stuck! I also did come in a few times to find them sleeping with their faces smooshed right up against this mesh bumper but I didn't almost have a heart attack like with the regular bumper because I had tested it out myself and saw how easily it is to breathe through.

I also like that if my daughters try to stand on these to get themselves out, it crumbles and they are not able to get out. And even though these are breathable they are still soft, my daughters have hit their heads a few times and it didn't hurt.

After having these I was finally able to get a good nights sleep. If I had to do it all over again I would have ONLY purchased these and not a regular bumper. Hospitals tell you not to have a bumper in your babys crib and just because a regular bumper might match your bedding & be "really cute" that isn't worth risking your babys safety.

When I was pregnant and shopping for the nursery, I was torn between what type of bumper to buy. One one hand I liked the softness of the Carter's brand bumper, but I liked the "breathable" bumper because my daughter was born in the beginning of summer and I wanted her to stay as cool as possible; so I bought the breathable bumper. When I put it on the crib, it looked very nice and while my daughter was little and imobile, it was very useful. As soon as she began to roll around, about 4 months, I would wake in the night to screams...her litttle arms and legs would get caught in the spacing of the crib, up and over the bumper! She would roll and turn while sleeping and apparently her limbs would lift over the bumper and the bumper would crumble under the light pressure of a babies arm. I have since bought the Carter's brand bumper and I am happy. It stands up to her limbs and no more limbs get caught. Great idea, but bumper needs work.

This is a great product I'm really surprised by the negative reviews. We've been using this for several months now and have had no problems, even though our baby is very "active." Before we bought this bumper, we had a cute plush one, but baby would sleep with her face right up against the bumper and I worried about the SIDS risk of re-breathing air. When we had no bumper our baby got her legs stuck between the crib slats. Now she sleeps just fine. This is the only thing that works for baby and gives me peace of mind. I can't understand why some reviewers found it hard to install or that it didn't stay in place you do have to weave the bumper in and out of a few of the crib slats and pull it tight, but it's really very simple and ours stays in place just fine. There's a YouTube video of a woman installing one, if you want to get a better idea, but it really is simple. I'm going to make sure grandma gets one before we stay at her house again.

Bought this bumper for my baby's crib which does not have a drop rail. It is designed for cribs with a drop rail and so it comes in two pieces one piece for the moveable side of the crib (the one that drops), and a larger piece that covers the other 3 sides. So it leaves 2 gaps because the pieces don't come together completely. This makes it easier to drop one side of a drop-side

crib but is pointless if you don't have this feature and looks funny. Also, baby is always losing his pacifier out of these gaps. I was disappointed that it looks like one piece in the picture and doesn't show the gap or mention that it is a two-piece bumper. I ended up buying a new bumper and using this for the crib at grandma's house. I would have returned it if it weren't for the shipping cost. As for the breathability the mesh seems to be good quality, just don't let the grabby side of the velcro attachments touch the mesh or it pulls and damages the mesh. The fit was somewhat loose on my crib and hard to adjust it to be tight. I am not terribly impressed I wish it was tighter and also wish it was one solid bumper.

Honeywell HM506H8908 Truesteam Humidifier, 6-Gallon

Honeywell HM506H8908 Truesteam Humidifier, 6-GallonContractor warned me that he was having issues with the Honeywell steam humidifier. Claimed I would be lucky if it lasted 3 years. Thinking I could live with 3 years, I had him install it. I really wanted a steam humidifier. Well, it last a little longer than 3 weeks. Contractor brought me a new one, and same thing. I am now in process of installing an Aprilaire which cost a few hundred more. Honeywell, you should pull this product from the market.

I had no option but to buy this product. My new furnace was in such a tight space that they could not install a conventional humidifier unless it voided it's warranty.

SOooo it's Truesteam or nothing. Let me say that it humidifies better than any other humidifier but it is NOT a set it and forget it product. First, it has to be installed correctly (esp.the wiring). If you have the chops do it fine , but otherwise get an HVAC dealer to do it for you. Second, get a Honeywell Reverse Osmosis Filter System (about $200 & easy to install)to go with it. This will save you time and $$ down the line. I went 2yrs without one and the scaling and cleaning and replacement of the water sensor unit ($60) each year was a pain...and my softened water is not that bad. Third, an probably most important, get to know your troubleshooting manual (Honeywell has a video that's pretty good as well [Google: Truesteam Tuneup]). If you don't you will have endless service calls because the warning lights go on and the unit stops working 2-4 times a season and you have to diagnose the problem. The blinking warning light system will tell you 95% of the time what the issue is by the # of blinks. Since I'm now an expert it's easy to get it going again.

Bottom line..I love the way it humidifies. Very even and efficient since my fan is on all the time. Better than Aprilaires I've owned. BUT.. you have to get to know the unit. If you don't you WILL get frustrated. I don't look forward to selling my house and explaining this to the new buyer.

UPDATE: I inquired about the APRILAIRE 800 Steam Humidifier (Hey..if it works better I'll try it) and was told by their #1 dealer in the area that the Aprilaire rep has told them to stay away from the unit...too many unresolved problems. Translation: endless service calls. Like with Truesteam the fixes are probably not difficult but the average homeowner doesn't want all the maintenance issues.

This is the worst purchase I have ever made. Neve has worked right. Have replace the entire unit and it still doesn't work right. If you don't have a good water source the boiling water will leave deposits from the boiloff. These deposits will cause the solenoid to malfunction and have to be replaced. I have done so several times. This is a hunk of junk.

I bought this unit on the advice of my HVAC man in 2008. To be fair, and this is the only good thing I will say about this unit, it does a good job of humidifying the house WHEN IT WORKS! The damn thing is made of plastic and is CONSTANTLY splitting (water tank) and or cracking (senders) after every heating season. Something is always broken on this piece of s _ _ t. I have had 2 brand new units replace successive faulty units but they all end up falling apart again. What the hell was Honeywell thinking of when they made this thing out of plastic?

It is November and time to start humidifying in the house and the unit water sender is once again cracked and broken. So I have a truesteam unit mounted on the ducting doing nothing. My HVAC man is bringing another water sender which will likely be junk at the end of the season.

My advice to anyone thinking about buying the Honeywell Truesteam STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM IT! Save your money and look for something that is NOT made of plastic. I don't know about the Aprilaire units, but I think it's time to look at them. Honeywell should be ashamed of building this kind of garbage. I hope this review prevents at least one person from wasting their money on this product.

Read the other reviews for this humidifier and you'll understand why it's a bad product. I'm on year 4 with mine. Its horrible to clean. The tank and seal already had to be replaced. Now, I get a water sensor error code that will require a call to the dealer. The parts warranty is 5 years which is good. The bad thing is it doesn't cover labor. I bought this to save water over the traditional water wasting type. What a horrible choice I made!
