LG Electronics DH404E Dehumidifier

I bought this when I was living in New Jersey. It is my first dehumidifier and I may have been expecting too much.

It removes plenty of moisture and works great. When the bucket is full it shuts itself off. You have the option of connecting it to a hose and let it run indefinitely with no water collection. Don't set it on max, because a room that is TOO dry is also uncomfortable. You can set it as low as 40% humidity, and can increase this in increments of 10% to Max.

Main problem is that it runs very hot. It will heat the room in which it is placed. On a hot humid day the last thing you want is a hotter dry day. This is not one of those units you would want to put in your bedroom.

It is not really quiet. I don't know if it is quieter than other dehumidifiers, but it produces the same amount of sound as a room air-conditioner.

Purchaced unit for basement and it worked great for the first year & 1/2 but it no longer works properly. It seems the compressor doesnt work any longer. Fan works and the compressor is running just not getting the radiator cold to remove the moister, just sucking my electricity. I had to switch back to my old unit that I have had for approx 12 years and still works great once I fixed the switch. wish they still made them like that. LG is loosing in my mind. my 1 year old LG dishwasher is starting to piss me off now. NO MORE LG

This humidifier performed exactly as advertised, and I could set the humidity % level to whatever we wanted in our basement. While I agree that it makes the room warmer, this is not for bedrooms. this is for a basement that can stay cool naturally. This is not a room A/C with dehumidifier, which are differnt, and better for living areas.

So it performed admirably for 3 years in our damp (not wet) basement. Then this year, when we went to turn it on, it did not. Taking it apart revealed that the circuit board is shot. I am thinking of looking for a mechanical version next time, not digital. The controls were cool, but I don't need them. Now I probably need to replace the whole unit, as the repair would be $100.

HINT: we did not see that there is a removable air filter inside. This should be cleaned periodically (if even once a year) to keep the coils free. Like a frig.

So it worked great, lasted a few years, but not as long as I would expect for a relatively expensive appliance.

I had purchased the first one about 4 years ago. It did work well and did what is was supposed to do. I felt that it was not easy to dispose the water that gets collected in the container. Though it looks good and did its job, my main problem is it stops working after couple of years.

I again bought the same brand couple of years ago. It stopped working again now. The next one I am going to try something else. I do not believe this product is reliable. I thinks this also makes more sound, but since I did not try others yet, don't know if others will be better.

I bought a similar humidifier for work and was so happy with it, I got one for home. It's simple and easy to use. My only minor complaint is that it drips a little when you remove the tank to fill it. No biggie. I've owned a gazillion humidifiers over the years, and this is my favorite, especially for the price.

This is a nice unit. But it does have lights inside it if you run it at night. So just be aware of that. But it works really well.

Quality Importers Traveler 10 10-Cigar Travel Humidor, Mahogany

I received this humidor today. The size is perfect, made spanish cedar, and it comes with a round humidification disc, but it does not have the magnetic clasps as advertised. I don't think that the lack of the clasps will be a problem because I do not intend to travel with it. I would have given the humidor 5 stars if it had come as was described.

Edit: I was mistaken when I originally posted this review. The humidor does have magnetic clasps. They are so well hidden in the wood that they can not be seen. They can be detected by placing a piece of metal next to the rim; they are strong magnets indeed.

I bought another little Humi from prestige imports on amazon and it was absolute garbage so I was leery about getting another sub 20$ box. Boy did this restore my faith in low dollar high value products. this thing has solid construction. Great seal and wait for it.....Made of real wood, unlike the fore mentioned brand. this will be my go to box for gifts and isolating small batches from my collection. great product 5 stars.

I bought this as a beginner cigar smoker and couldn't be happier. I have been able to fit about 12-15 cigars in this box as well, although they're a little smaller in size. I recommend getting the digital hygrometer it recommends as well, since this does not come with one.

The box is good quality. Seals very tight. Fits many cigars for a smaller humidor. Good buy for the money.

Don't pay a technician to change your inline water filter.

This filter installs easily and quickly. No tools are necessary. Just turn the water off where the humidifier's water line tapped into your water pipe, then remove the tube endings from the old filter, insert them into the new, and turn the water back on. It may take you longer to read the directions that come with the filter than to install the filter, and the directions are themselves straightforward and simple.

Replace the filter each heating season to help prevent sediment buildup.

We have very hard water, at least according to the test kit from Honeywell. It destroyed my first humidifier packed with minerals. Fortunately, the warranty covered the equipment and I was only out labor. But didn't want to chance this again (as the humidifier is wonderful). So a filter seemed necessary and this one was recommended. Upon shaking it, it seems as if it is filled with some type of grain I kinda wondered if it wasn't salt to soften the water. In any event, it installed very easily (just cut the water line and inserted an end into each side of filter note that it does have a flow direction). I won't really know how well it worked until the next cleaning. As well a little pricey.

The filters were just a bit short for my American Red Cross humidifier and half of the filter remained dry and became hard. I eventually discarded the whole system and switched to a Lasko 1115. Might work for other folks.

The America Red Cross replacement filters were quite difficult to find, but worth the search. They are quite durable, yet easily disposable/recyclable.

After discovering that Wal-mart doesn't have replacement parts for this vacuum any more, I came here and found these. It comes with two belts and look of good quality. I essentially rebuilt my Hoover Whisper vacuum because of all the problems it was having.
