So I am totally sold on this product. It does exactly as described. Just add the water, 1 DROP!!!!! of oil, and turn it on. It's not really a purifier, but it's obvious that it pulls stuff out of the air because the water looks pretty gross after a day of use. So is it as effective as an ionizer? No, it's just a really effective way of scenting a room and cleaning out some of the junk out of the air.

I like this item, however since it is so small the water runs out fast. I love how it lights up and gives off a scent when you put the drops in it, but I dislike how fast it runs out.

I really liked this product. I got it for my bedroom because one of the dogs is quite gassy. This little machine makes the air feel fresh and with added essential oil the room smells great! No more stinky dog toots lol. Not only is it very effective (and naturally environmentally friendly) but it looks beautiful and works as an attractive night light and makes white noise. definitely recommend this product!

When I ordered this I thought it was larger by the picture on the screen, but as I put it on the shelf in the bathroom, it was so cute and gives a small fragrance as well as a night light. Also, it's easy to rinse out and refill without the soap and water scrub. I'm pleased with my purchase.

I paid $163.17 for this item on October 4th, 2012. First of all, the majority of the reviews here are outdated. One of the biggest complaints was that when you hooked up the hose in the back the water would not flow out. Then you have to call the company and get an additional item to get it to work. BUT they have fixed any and all problems, so order with out fear. I got this item with the full knowledge that when I got it I would be calling the manufacturer to get it working with my hose, but when I called they said my unit was a 2012 model and it was good to go.

I live in coastal texas, in a 1200 sq/ft apartment that was unbearable with out the AC running all day. I'm more then ok at the temperature set at 80, with the dehumidifier going in the kitchen, small hose cut to fit running into the sink.

(I'm currently working on about 500 reviews, I order pretty much everything from Amazon but I (until now) never review. So I'm going through the years of orders to catch up, and try and give back to the system. If your reading this PLEASE hit the button saying this review was helpful, it does help out the people that make reviews, and trust me it takes a lot of time... I try not to make long winded reviews, all of the specs are in the product description)

Some of the details. First, I bought this item at Best Buy for about $150.00, plus (yes) the $20.00 for the two year extended warranty. Second, I am writing from Austin, Texas, where the humidity is not oppressive like Houston, but it is certainly not bone dry like Phoenix. And, third, I live in a 600sf+ apartment, for which the capacity of this humidifier is very well suited.

Some of the reviewers of other Frigidaire dehumidifiers have complained of noise, heat and difficulty removing the water bucket. Yes, it does make some noise, but I don't find it at all distracting, much less bothersome. If you are wanting something whisper quiet, this is not the unit you want. Regarding the heat, it also does put off some heat. However, it is a dry heat, you might say. And, though here in Austin the temperatures are moving into the consistent summer 90s, with the humidity in the apartment substantially lowered -this is where this unit earns its keep -by adding a fan or two I have not had to run my air conditioning since purchasing this machine, save to take off the heat's edge at particular moments of the day and night. Finally, removal of the water bucket/catcher is not at all difficult. It also has a built-in fold-down handle, which makes transporting the water easy. And, as an added benefit, I use the water for various utility purposes. Access to the filter is also very easy. Cleaning it involves rinsing it with water and then drying it. Quite simple. Indeed, the overall operation of this dehumidifier is much less involved than your average washer or dryer, though perhaps a bit more so than a toaster.

Something I did not realize is that Frigidaire's parent company is now Electrolux. With this in mind, I have reason to think that this dehumidifier should last a good while. It is most definitely worth the investment.

So, to wrap this up, if you do not live in a vast expanse of space, and are willing to put up with a noticeable hum and the production of some heat as a by-product of moisture removal, I would say that this dehumidifier is an excellent purchase and value.

-I have only had the product for a day and so far it is working well.

-The tank holds about a gallon (estimate) and, so far, has filled in about 8 hours. I expect it will not fill this quickly after continual use.

-It is louder than a fan, but less noisy than window air conditioning unit.

-The dehumidifier puts out some heat, but with the room being less humid it feels more comfortable inside than it did before.

It is called a '30-Pint Dehumidifier'-this means it collects ~30 pints in a day, not that the tank holds 30 pints at a time.

...are out the drain instead of making the air in my basement musty. In only one day, the humidity and smell of the 900 sq ft basement has improved dramatically. Great value. The fan on the top of the unit is powerful and really moves the air. Shipping was incredibly fast! Packaging was excellent. Pleased!

Worked great, but failed after less than 2 years of fairly light use. We had it in the bedroom, and only ran it during rainy or humid periods. We did move it every once in a while to another room, but it is supposed to be portable. I began to get a failure code of "ES", after about 20 months. I called customer support and was told there was nothing they could do, and that it was not able to be repaired even if I took it to the authorized frig repair service shop. Rep I spoke with did not seem surprised at all that it had failed this soon. I checked with an authorized repair shop and guy said they make these units to be replaced, not to be repaired. Previously, I had a soleus dehumidifier and had similar issue -it too failed w/in a couple of years. Would be more than willing to pay more for unit that would last longer. We had an old frigidaire dehumidifier in basement that lasted over 10 yrs. Guess it's true -they don't make them like they used to!! Would caution that some of the positive posts are probably from folks who have only recently purchased the unit. I too would have given it 4 or 5 stars if I had reviewed it before it crashed.

Met and exceeded expectations. Good quality product. Many on the market but this one works well. Would have preferred blue but green was fine.

This is a very quiet machine. Works well but the water reservoir does not hold very much water and it is not an easy refill. I would call it awkward. You have to take the tank off the base and water always drips, then unscrew the filter (large white cylinder in the picture) and then fill from the bottom (upside down under a tap). Then you have to screw the filter back in and turn it back right-side up. Water invariably drips on the floor again no matter what one does.

I have a second one in the bedroom and it is very quiet and seems efficient. Just wish it were more user friendly for filling. The real test will be to see how long it lasts. My last humidifier made it through only one year.

I called Sunpentown and they were quite pleasant on the phone. They said they think it is the fan, based on what I described, and promised to send me another fan to see if I could replace it myself at home by taking apart the motor compartment with screwdriver. If not, I will have to send in the motor portion and pay for the shipping myself. That was 3 weeks ago. I wrote them again and they apologized and said they will get the fan out shortly. So far, I'm not impressed with this.

Having said this, I am very sad this is not working out because the design of the tank is AMAZING for cleaning. The hole is HUGE. This it totally unlike the Crane humidifiers shaped like animals. Invariably, my spouse or I neglect to empty the tank and then we end up with funk in the tank and no great way to clean it. Bleaching it seems counterproductive, as the tank will then end up smelling like bleach, etc. I tried cleaning the funk out with vinegar. Didn't do anything. So I was desperate for a new solution and this Sunpentown looked easy to clean.

So...I'll update everyone on what happens with Sunpentown customer service and whether or not they will fix this.

We initially bought one for our basement to get rid of the mildewy smell. It worked so great that we bought another for our bedroom and then another for our motor home. I run them continously, clean them about month and my allergy problems nearly disappeared. My sister lives in a very old house and the basement has been wet more than once. She refinished it and put her bedroom down there and suddenly started having one sinus infection after another. I gave her the one from our motor home and within two days she had symptom relief. Now I am researching costs because my parents want to purchase one or two of them. The white noise that they produce is just an added bonus.

I started a new job in the fall of 2008 at a health clinic. I am never sick, but after starting the job I was sick for 4 months straight. Many of the people working here were sick frequently.
