Honeywell Compact Air Purifier with Permanent HEPA Filter, HHT-011

I have other ionic air cleaners, as well as one that requires a filter. This air purifier is quiet and due to its compact size, can be placed off the floor on a bookcase, dresser top or top shelf which makes it optimal for space-saving and placement. I don't particularly like the noise from air filters and they have a tendency to keep me up.

After spending many dollars on replacement filters and new air cleaners when the filter is no longer made or easily available, this is a welcome addition with a permanent cleanable filter. I bought two of these, one for my bedroom and one for the living room. Set on low all of the time, it is great as it just sounds like a little white noise and is not noticable most of the time. The optional ionic on and off switch, night light, as well as the automated light indicating that the filter should be cleaned is a BONUS besides the low price. So far, I am enjoying cleaner air in an old dusty house with 3 cats and 2 dogs...

I have bought the Sharper Image ionic breeze for the bathroom and find it hard to clean and hope that when I have to clean this filter. Good value for the money.

This is my 2nd air purifier the other was a comparable model by Holmes. I learned from my first air purifier that you really have to leave it on all the time or the revolving motor will collect dust, not work as well or as quietly. If I don't want it on constantly, I just put a clean towel over the top to prevent any dust/dirt from building up.

The noise level is acceptable to me, in an 8x10 room. I usually leave it on LOW, which sounds a bit like a fan on low speed, but MED is good too it has a nice white noise effect. I only put it on HIGH if there's a bad smell or lots of dust floating around (for whatever reason). HIGH is a bit loud for my taste. This machine tends to rattle a bit as it sits on my bureau, but a small towel underneath it took care of that problem. Also, give it time to warm up when you put it on. It starts off slowly, but works at full speed within a few minutes.

I have allergies and noticed a difference immediately when I got this model. My symptoms have improved greatly, even with 3 cats in the house. I would recommend it to anyone who has a small space, doesn't want to buy new filters and is perhaps on a budget. Good machine at a decent price.

I brought this one recently to replace the sharper image's ionizer purifier, since I want something to shut off the ionizer -the air has some smell from those ions.

This unit has three speeds. Another switch to turn on or off the ionizer.

The lowest speed can push enough air comparable to Sharper Image's high speed, without much noise. If no one talks in the room, you can still notice the sound. But if anyone talks or the TV is on, then you would not noticed the sound, even in a 8x10 room. Middle and high speed push 20-50 times more air than a Sharper Images ionizer purifiers. I wish it has a feature to push a button to boost the air flow to high speed for 15 minutes, then fall back to slowest speed...

For the price of a tank of gasoline, and free shipping from Amazon, buying this is no brainer....

I just returned this item and amazon took $12 off for restocking fee. So I decided to write a review now to share my experience. The unit is small, which is good because I could put it on a table. One small thing that annoyed me was that the unit actually moved little by little when it was on because it was vibrating. So I had to put it on a more rugged surface to keep it from moving.

The purifier worked perfectly fine for the first several days. It produced a humming sound, and it wasn't loud. I could definitely have it turned on while reading without being distracted. The high setting was quite noisy, but still it was within reasonable range of noise. Bottom line: if it were like that all the time, I would've kept it.

Unfortunately, after several days, the unit became extremely noisy and produced a noise like popping popcorn in a microwave, even when I set it only on low. Then the noise became intolerable and I decided to return the item.

Perhaps it was because I got a defective unit or what, I don't know. But before buying it, I read some reviews on amazon indicating that the unit is indeed very noisy. Some reviews, however, suggested otherwise, that the product is excellent. Given the mixed reviews, probably the risk of getting a very noisy purifier like mine is not extremely small. Hope this is helpful.

This Honeywell HHT-011 tabletop air purifier turned out to be just what I needed. It sits on a dresser in the bedroom. It is very stable, does NOT shake or vibrate, but produces a kind of "white noise" that is amazingly conducive to sleep (you can barely hear it on the lowest of the three speeds)we keep it on the medium speed. The air is cleaner, we no longer sneeze upon waking, and I don't need to dust as often. One of my main reasons for buying this product was that it has a permanent HEPA filter which can be cleaned and reused. I was worried about it being too shallow, but this big girl had more than enough room for 4 or more cups of water at once. It's very sturdy and HEAVY. Make sure to have a spare watering can to transport water to this vessel. Also keep a oven mitt near, as the top heats up quite a bit. Shipping took little longer than I would have liked but it was worth the wait. Beautiful, quality piece.

Space-gard And Aprilaire #4330 Aprilaire Scale Control Insert

This unit was advertised as the correct size as a replacement part for my Aprilaire humidifier. It does not fit! I am using my old unit with a new replacement water panel. I've contacted this supplier by email and asked for the appropriate information so that I can invoke their somewhat cumbersome return policy. I am waiting for their reply. Would not recommend buying this unit since it does not fit the Model size it professes to fit.

No issues at all with this in my old Aprilaire 600 unit. Looks and fits the same as the original.

I bought this as a replacement for my Aprilaire model 760. I bought with a filter and the scale filter as a kit. The filter did fit but the insert and tray did not. I went on again and see it now listed for Aprilaire 600. I am not sure if this was a mistake or not. This part came up as a suggested item when I purchased the filter so it may be linked to the filter by mistake. At any rate, I await a reply and will update if they send the right parts. As for the filter, it works great. The old insert was not defective, just a little dirty. I'd still replace it because it's original and the unit is old...but it works.

Santa Fe Compact 2 Whole House Dehumidifier (4033600)

My previous rental house in the rainy Pacific Northwest had a dehumidifier in the basement that kept it toasty dry so I was sold on the concept.

So I bought the Santa Fe Compact 2 for my new house running for around 2 months now.

Regarding function: It totally dried out the 800 sq ft basement. Before humidity was around 68%, the dirt in the crawlspaces was saturated, and there were beads of water under the plastic sheeting laid over the soil. Now the dehumidifer is holding the humidity down at 49% and the soil in the crawlspaces is dry. It's probably keeping moisture down overall in the house as the furnace exchanges air between the basement and the other floors, however, I haven't done any objective testing to see if this is true.

Regarding installation: I purchased the Santa Fe ceiling suspension kit and have the unit hanging from the basement ceiling joists. This works well at stopping any vibration. I can't normally hear it from the main floor although obviously your mileage may vary depending on the flooring material in your house. On a really quiet night I might hear it switch on and off, however, it's actually quieter than my 16-year-old furnace and the furnace condensate pump.

I ran the supplied condensate hose down to the furnace condensate pump. I needed to buy a $1 hose clamp (from the 'Orange Store') to properly secure the hose to the dehumidifier. It would have been nice if Sante Fe had included that. It's important to make sure that the hose immediately slopes away so water does not build up around the outlet, and also to make sure that the unit is level. At first I must have had some water flow back into the unit because it dripped out the bottom of the unit casing after an hour. Once I corrected the hose and leveled the unit everything was fine.

Regarding appearance: Overall the unit has a sturdy feel. I wouldn't describe it as beautiful appliance however it is definitely solidly engineered which I think is appropriate for basement equipment. It's presently listed under "Kitchen" on Amazon (which they might adjust at some point) however I would not put it in a kitchen or anywhere in a finished part of the house; there are other more appliance-looking dehumidiers that would be more appropraite for those locations.

I purchased this (not from Amazon) and I will tell you this thing really works. Previously, I owned an LG which was the absolute nosiest piece of junk I have ever purchased. I have a finished basement in a suburb of Philadelphia. I don;t have a huge problem with moisture, but I do have my fair share. My LG would work so hard to remove the little moisture that I had.

I found this unit and spoke to a distributor about why these were so much money! I thought that a $250 dehumidifier was sufficient for my basement, but the truth is that these cheap models just end up running up your electric bill, aren't really that great at dehumidifying, and break relatively quickly. If you get a few years, you're lucky.

I was tired of re-buying an appliance every few years, and I am a big believer in "you get what you pay for" so I decided to try this beast out. I was able to score this unit for $999 with Free Shipping from a distributor. I don't think they are allowed to advertise it lower than the MSRP but they gave me a great price considering they routinely sell for between $1100-$1200 pretty much everywhere you look.

After it was delivered I couldn't wait to get it hooked up. I have it sitting on a table and have the drain hose run into my condensate pump for my house heater/ac. These models do not have buckets to dump. They are so efficient and dehumidify so fast and so well, that it would fill up the bucket possibly every couple of hours.

The musty smell in my basement is now gone and the thing hardly ever runs. Initially, it did seem to run a bit in order to extract all of the excess moisture in the air, but now I rarely hear it turn on (more so in the summer than winter).

I definitely recommend you buy one of these models. I fully expect this to be the last dehumidifier I ever have to buy.

I have had evaportative coolers for 60 years and this is the absolute poorest excuse for a cooler I have ever seen. The motor is loud, the fan does not produce much air, and the cooling is non-existant. I tried the water, the ice, and the ice packs and the air was not cooled and the fan does not circulate the air.

I really think the SPT SF-610 Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with Ionizer is a great product for the price. It is tall and slim and fits most anywhere. It can be moved easily and when ice cubes are placed in the top compartment, the air definitely becomes cooler and keeps my home down to 75 degrees when it is 90 degrees outside. The ionizer creates fresh air so I don't have to leave windows open and that keeps my home a lot cleaner. It has a timer and swinging louvers to distribute air evenly. In addition to that it has a "natural" mode that simulates a gust of air and then pauses. Because it is not an air conditioner, it is economical like a fan to operate. I think many people resort to negativity when reviewing a product such as this, because maybe their home is not properly insulated or maybe they do not have double paned windows. It is certainly not as loud as a window air conditioner and definitely not as expensive to run. Also, if you leave clutter in front of it, of course the flow of air will be blocked. These are just common sense considerations.
