Drymistat Humidifier Tube
There is perhaps some understandable confusion because the instructions could be written better, and that is why a few reviewers had problems with leaking: "Some evaporation may occur while sitting on the shelf. Remove wrapper. Add plain tap water to the Fill line. Put perforated cap on tube and wait for water to be absorbed. . . . A mixture of Propylene Glycol and water has been specially formulated and initially charged into the crystals."
When you receive the Drymistat, pop the cap and take out a crystal. You'll notice it is moist. This is the "initial charge" referred to, and the amount of moisture will depend upon, as the instructions say, how long the item has been sitting in inventory. The instructions mention that the tube has microscopic pores which permit moisture to pass thru; this is why there can be evaporation. All that's required is to add a small amount of water if necessary to the fill line and then leave the tube upright with the second perforated cap on, until that water is absorbed by the crystals, which is pretty quickly. Turn the tube upside down and gently shake it or very gently squeeze it, and any excess water will come out. Now place in humidor and there won't be any leaking. The crystals will shrink as the water transfers to your absorbent cigars or whatever. Refill when crystals shrink below the lower line on the tube. That's all there is to it.Great product. I've had four in my 100 cigar humidor for a few years now. I keep one in my portable humidor, and have one in a zip lock bag for those times when I end up with more cigars than my humidor holds. I have never had a dry or moldy cigar using this product.
The rule of thumb for one tube per 25 cigars seems like a good one.
I agree with another reviewer that on various vendor's websites, it looks like the purchase price is for a box of tubes instead of a single tube.
For the guy who said they simply didn't work, that seems strange to me, since my experience is they are very effective and simple to use.

I purchased the product for my 50 stogie humidor. I was amazed when I put it in the humidor with cigars and checked it 6 hours later... humidity was regulated at 71%! I have a caliber III hygrometer so I know it is accurate. After 1 week of having the drymistat in the humidor, it constantly reads 70% humidity. I even checked the high and low humidity that is recorded on the caliber and it read 70%. Easy to use product... you just have to add tap water. Low maintenance as well... fill 1-3 months depending upon conditions. I paid 8$ at JR Cigar.. very inexpensive compared to other humidifying products.Read Best Reviews of Drymistat Humidifier Tube Here
I purchased the Drymistat about 2 years ago and I'm very pleased with it. It's very easy to use and a must have for anyone who keeps more than 25 cigars, especially if your climate is dry. Here are a few tips for those who own a humidor with draws or trays: let the stock humidifier take care of the top drawer or tray and put a drymistat stick in each level. I have a 100ct humidor w/drawers and keep about 80-85 stogies. I keep my premos in the bottom drawer with 2 drymistats and they are aging very well at 64-68% relative humidity. Also, make sure to refill with distilled water. Tap water will leave a brown residue on the beads after a period of time.Want Drymistat Humidifier Tube Discount?
I bought this product and have found it perfect. It allows you to leave your humidor alone without babying the humidifier with water and glycol for that perfect/mysterious/etheral/overly-scientific/alchemic level of humidity and actually retaining it.I gave the product 5 out of 5 because it is such a great product but if I could rate the purchase I would rate it 1 out of 5 because the picture plainly depicts a packaged box full of these tubes which was what I thought I was buying ... not just ONE TUBE.
Fine product though!

Bell and Howell Ionic Whisper Air Purifier and Ionizer

It worked more or less ok for a few months except for the dang ozone smell you get sometimes, and then a few days ago I decided to clean the inside tube but after I reinserted it the thing stopped working. They designed this so poorly that the switch to turn it on is embedded with the button to take the removable panel off so any slight force will break the whole darn thing.I was close to order an oreck one for cheap but decided against it and cancelled the order after learning you have to buy new filters. Was deciding to get the XL model but learned those things are garbage as well after reading the negative reviews.
I have severe allergies so i guess I'll figure out other homeopathic remedies to relieve my symptoms.

I ordered this unit, not expecting to much considering its size and price, and the name, but i was, to say the least, pretty impressed. On silent it does not move air, period, and there is a "hisssss" that can be annoying. On "turbo" i.e. a fan moving the air, there isn't a hiss and it is fairly quiet, i couldn't hear it over my ceiling fan. After about a day i opened it up and looked at the collection filter, and as i suspected i didn't see anything, but i took a damp clean white paper towel and wiped it off, and lo and behold there was actually stuff that came off. I was suprised, and thought it might have just been dust and stuff that were there already, so i put the filter back in and a couple days later i cleaned it again, and there was more. The only reason i give this a 4 is because on mine the switch broke and i could not turn it off.Want Bell and Howell Ionic Whisper Air Purifier and Ionizer Discount?
It worked for 3 days and never worked again. The cover was extremely difficult to remove. I thought Bell and Howell would be a dependable brand name. I would rather have donated $28 to charity than the garbage can.Wednesday, December 25, 2013

the Kevlar sleeves are for arm protection while i'm walking dogs at a shelter. i've been scratched numerous times and have been looking for a way to have arm protection without wearing long sleeves. while they are warm and sometimes make my arm sweat, the protection they provide is well worth it. they wash clean and keep their size. i'm very satisfied with the product.Want G & F Kevlar 18-Inch Knit Sleeve with Thumb Slot, Yellow, 6-Pack Discount?
My husband is a welder who creates large art work from rebar, steel, and recycled metal items/electronic parts. He uses these to prevent burns during his welding, and they work great. Having the thumb slot prevents them from sliding up his arm while working as other protectors have done. The price is very reasonable, and the sleeves provide terrific protection for him. Highly recommended.Sunday, December 15, 2013
The Elegant 25-50 Cigar Glass Top Humidor
The gold tone corners, tempered beveled glass top and external hygrometer are nice touches.
Even the wife said "Wow!"
Instructions for seasoning and care are included. Interior dimensions are 9 1/4" x 7 1/2" with a moveable cedar divider.
All in all, a good value cigar box for your back porch or den.

The humidor is entirely functional and really looks very good, it's much better looking in person than in the crummy Amazon photo (the cedar inside is a pinkish hue and the outside is a reddish cherry color). The glass top is nicely beveled, thick, closes with a satisfying thunk. The humidifier works well but, because the top is glass, you have to cut into your cigar storage space to place it away from the hygrometer.Speaking of the hygrometer, it's a cheap POS and is my only real complaint. I got lucky that mine reads exactly 5 units low because the "adjustment screw" isn't a screw at all and is completely non functional. If you get one on a good day you're golden, but if you're unlucky and get a unit that is way off there really isn't anything you can do, except buy a new hygrometer.

As a fairly new cigar enthusiast, I was looking for an inexpensive but effective way to store my cigars. Let's face it, they can be an expensive hobby and I didn't want to store them in a plastic bag or risk drying them out. The humidor itself is solid, well-designed, and the seal has a good, tight feel to it. You hear the whoosh of air when it closes and the brass latch prevents any accidental opening. The glass top is thick and gives you a nice view of the contents, and there is a nice, rich cedar smell from the interior. Brass fittings and dark wood look nice on your desk, too, and the box is deep enough to hold at least 50 cigars, depending on size. If you have cigarillos or smaller cigars, you could easily get more in there. Some reviewers complain about the hygrometer not working... mine seems to be fine after about a week. The seal is tight, and using the shot glass of water, it only took a couple of days to get the humidity up to about 72%. I haven't used the humidifier, to be honest... I just use one of the humidifying gel packs, and will probably stick with that rather than mess with charging up the humidifier. All in all, this is a great buy for a beginner. Serious cigar lovers would probably prefer a higher quality box, but if you're on a budget and want a good humidor, then go for it.Want The Elegant 25-50 Cigar Glass Top Humidor Discount?
March 7 -I'm updating my previous review after purchasing a new hygrometer which calibrated right on the money. But after installing it and using the 'seasoning' method in the instructions, I can't get the humidity to stay above 50. I eventually even tried replacing the shot glass of water with a 'steaming' bowl of water, which got the humidity up around 70 for a while but then it slowly went back down to 50 again. So for me this is a nice looking piece of junk. Assume I just got a bad one since others have found it to be just fine.==================Original Review
The humidor in my music room has glass top and hygrometer in front that can be read without opening the lid so I wanted to get a smaller version for my office. This looked to fit the bill perfectly and it really would except that the hygrometer is totally useless. After going through the calibrating routine it read 39 percent humidity instead of 70-75. So according to the instructions I'm just supposed to now add 35 or so to whatever the thing reads to get an accurate reading. Right, I'm going to do that. The little searching I've done thus far for a better hygrometer hasn't led to anything with rave reviews. I'd be willing to spend $20 if I thought it would be accurate. If you know where to get a good, accurate hygrometer for this thing, it could be a nice humidor just more expensive than what you had planned.

Honeywell 4 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, HCM-645
I bought the #360 in Oct. 2005, and after about 4 weeks of operation the motor started to make a really bad rattling sound, Oh crap where is the receipt????? Can't find it!!!! Well, knowing that most stores won't return anything without a receipt if it's been used, I figured I would have to take advantage of the 5 year warrenty and contact the mfg. for a replacement. In the meantime I can't be without a humidifier so I went out and bought another one, same Mfg. (Honeywell)but a differant model to be on the safe side thinking if I go differant I shouldn't have any trouble......THINK AGAIN!!!!
I bought the HCM-645 on 11-15-05 and on this day 11-29-05, yes thats right 13 days later.....This motor has started to rattle, not quite as loud as the other but that won't last long.
I called the Mfg. about the one I had no receipt for and they wanted to charge me $10.00 for warrenty processing and I was to pay shipping cost both ways, estimated shipping cost would be $20.00 so for $30.00 they would send me a new humidifer. I paid $32.99 orginally does this make sense????. Well, I took the information on returning only to hang up the phone and call Wal-Mart just to see if they would take it back. Guess what? They had no problem in returning it for store credit and also took back the extra filters I purhased.
So my thought on Honeywell Humidifers, BUYER BEWARE, something is definatly wrong with the components in the motor operation in 2004 and 2005 modelsWe bought this humidifier about 3 months ago because our bedroom was becoming so dry that we were waking with dry throats, bloody noses, and so on. This machine has solved that problem and we have encountered no significant difficulties with it. It is not too difficult to maintain, and the only problem in that area is locating filters in local stores, although Amazon and other online retailers carry them. (I do wonder why the tank always leaks water at exactly the moment I move it over the machine, but not before; I can't figure it out but there must be a reason why this happens). Re: Mold. Apparently the person who complained of mold didn't realize the filters should be changed regularly, frequency depending upon the quality of your water supply.

We purchased two of these for our home and have since wished that we had not. The unit, while new, worked almost flawlessly, reasonably quietly, and, we thought, did a good job. The problems came about while we lived with it over the next couple of weeks. It started, simply enough, with the need to occasionally take the top portion apart to realign all of the plastic bits. We found this out after one refill when the machine wouldn't come back on. It seems that if the top white portion (not the tank) is nudged out of place, sensors will not allow it to come back on until everything is properly lined up. Unfortunately, this happened quiet often as you place the 4 gallon tank directly against that part of the machine. This problem we learned to live with. The second, and deal breaker problem, is overly apparent when refilling the tanks. The tanks are made of a clear, very fragile plastic that, if touched on the side while full, crack. The first crack on one unit appeared from some unknown bump and was found hours later with a pool of water around it. Now we do not have children, and our dog is about as mellow as dogs come, so we aren't sure how it appeared. So, ok, on crack -we superglued the crack to reinforce it, it held, and we were generally pleased. Then another, on another machine, on a different floor, appeared. Hmmm, more superglue. From there we know what happened. When we attempted to refill the original tank (first superglue job) about a week later, after it had held through a number of refillings, the bottom was bumped against the sink when full. This caused the superglued crack to spread very quickly and a chunk of the sidewall broke loose. The second tank saw the same fate, although it happened as we were placing it, the same way we had always done, back into machine.
Moral of the story: This is a nice machine with a poor tank that cannot be replaced from the manufacture and that, once cracked, renders the whole humidifier soon-to-be useless. In retrospect, we should have noticed the flaw and immediately returned both of the humidifiers after the first tank cracked. I hope that my warning helps someone else steer clear of this model.

I read the reviews about how noisy these were, but went ahead and bought two of them because I also read that they work well. I plugged them in and they both aren't that noisy. Of course there is a little noise, but that's to be expected. It's a humidifier with a fan blowing. Out of all the humidifiers I've used this is the most quiet. The 4 gallon tank is great, and the digital controls make it super easy to set. We put one in the nursery and one in our master bedroom. The two have no problem keeping the entire upstairs comfy. They run when needed and shut off when the desired humidity is reached. It really is a great product. I have had the two of them for about a month, so I can't speak on dependability, but the design and function is great, and it's NOT too loud!Want Honeywell 4 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, HCM-645 Discount?
It really is quieter than all other units I've had, eg., Hunter, Holmes, other Honeywells, and it puts out moisture faster than the others as well. It has a different design from cheaper models and seams to be made of a better grade of plastic. Most importantly, it does a reasonable job of keeping a 1200 SF apartment comfortable. After Super Saver shipping (2 days for me), I'm plenty satisfied with this guy.
