GENERAL AIRE 13156

GENERAL AIRE 13156I don't have any complaints about this filter. It seems to be doing it's job. I wish it was bit cheaper.

This filter costs less than from the OEM item through the dealer, and is of equal quality or better. We have 3 SEER 18 heat pumps with back-up gas furnaces, and they are checked every 6 months at semi-annual maintenance visits by the dealer. They last about18 to 24 months, and are superior to most other systems for keeping the house largely dust-free.

Uniflame 5 QT. Cast Iron Humidifier, Chrome handle

Uniflame 5 QT. Cast Iron Humidifier, Chrome handleI have had this sitting on my wood stove for a few days and it is working great. It is larger than I had thought and much heavier, both good things for me. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we have seen our temperatures drop over the past month and it has been great to use my stove instead of hearing my heater starting up every few minutes. The only negative I have with wood stoves is the dry air they tend to bring with them, but adding this cast iron humidifier has provided some much needed moisture to the air in my home. If you need some additional humidity due to your stove, this is a great, inexpensive solution to the problem. It looks like some rust has already started to form on the humidifier, but that is expected with cast iron and just adds to the beauty of the product. If you don't want rust, I've read some fairly easy ways to keep it away, but I prefer to allow the rust to form and protect the cast iron. Initially, I thought I would have to order 2 of these to provide enough humidity to my home, but 1 is taking care of the task very well. For most settings, I think 1 will work great for any home.

VERY rough casting of the cast iron. Made in China, so... Sharp edges around the rim, very rough grinding off at the spout.

Painted black, and paint was scratched off in several places but we plan to season it before using anyway.

Had thought about picking up a used one at an antique store, but the old ones are way expensive (but much nicer finish), and this seemed like a good deal at $42. You get what you pay for. I guess for what it is it's ok, but I was expecting a better finish.

May break out the angle grinder and do a little smoothing of the rough areas myself.

Handle is quite heavy-duty, and was hard to bend to fit into the tabs, seems well-matched to weight of the kettle. Overall, this does seem like a heavy-duty piece.

I like this cast iron kettle for several reasons. One is that the cast iron transfers heat well. I put a stainless steel pot on the stove and the water never boiled, but in this kettle the water boils quite well. It also looks much nicer as it matches the stove. It holds a fair amount of water which is a plus also.

While the specs make this kettle seem like a great idea, there's a problem not obvious until you put it to use: a horrible chemical smell when you first boil. Smells like petroleum, and made our smoke alarms trigger. We've since boiled the pot on the cooking stove with the exhaust fan on, and hopefully burned off whatever the smell is (paint, antirust agent, who knows.) Will update this review if the smell goes away, which I expect it will.

This is a heavy cast iron pot that will rust a little when it is used as a steamer. I use it strictly as a steamer on the wood stove and I don't care about the rust (all on the inside). The pot probably holds close to a gallon and it works great as a steamer. Very pleased.

Crystal 50 Humidifier

Crystal 50 HumidifierWorks ok I find I am filling it every three weeks & not the couple months it advertise although I have tried other ones & they do not work well.

I use this puck as a adjustment to large humidors. my primary source of humidity is nano beads, and I have one of these gel puck in each box as well. they work for about a year and occasionally discolor, but for 8 bucks & free freight they're not bad. I've found that they need to be recharged ever 3-4 weeks.

Buy Crystal 50 Humidifier Now

Does a great job of keeping the humidity level in my humidor. Doesnt need the special recharging liquid. I use distilled water.

The humidifier has a magnet installed underneath, and includes a circular metal plate with a sticky pad. This allows you to install the humidifier in the lid of your humidor but still easily remove it for refilling.

In my moderate sized humidor (described as 25-40 cigar capacity) this humidifier balanced out at 62% humidity after 48 hours, using distilled water and a digital thermometer/hygrometer. Going on 10 days now and I can clearly see the crystals starting to dry out and separate again. I estimate I will need to fill it again at the 2 week mark as noted in the instructions.

Overall much better than the stock sponge humidifier, well worth the cost.

I had the sponge type and it worked until it started leaking. I was at 72% most of the time according to my Caliber 3 digital hygrometer. I bought this to replace it. Doesn't keep it even above 60%. So I guess these are hit and miss. I even sponged it down one more time after this didn't work, still doesn't work properly. Also this product is not a Madelaine product it is made by IQ which is the same brand as the one that started leaking.

Quality Importers Cigar Caddy Deluxe Humidifier, Large Foam Humidifier, Round

Quality Importers Cigar Caddy Deluxe Humidifier, Large Foam Humidifier, RoundI've tried a lot of types of humidifiers for my 30 ct, $40 wooden cigar box. This open stone, low cost, device seems to hold my % humidity between 65-70 percent more reliably than other more expensive items I've tried.

Here's Why:

My low cost humidor was Very difficult to season. And being able to oversaturate this stone helped maintain the humidity level. The bags and pillows just wouldn't keep up.

If I only use distilled water this remains usable for months, and months.

I found that even after seasoning the box, the pouches and pillows couldn't keep up with how often I open the lid (up to twice a day). I did have success with pillows and pouches when I left the lid down for at least a week at a time.

I like these because I can vary the water amount to compensate for differences in humidity levels easily and quickly. You can't throw it in an forget it, but it doesn't cost a fortune either.

I bought a few of these for 2 humidors I keep only partially stocked. My joe-brand ones had quit helping out long ago and you can really tell the difference when your humidifiers are putting out the right amount of water. The junky ones these replaced wouldn't hold 1/2 the water, so now I'm doing a lot less maintenance and the humidity is right where it should be.

I bought this to add additional humidification to my Humidor. The one that came with it was not cutting it. Once I added this one, I was getting the proper Humidity. I recommend this.

4-Pack: Boveda Humidifier 72%

4-Pack: Boveda Humidifier 72%Several months ago, I purchased several 72% Relative Humidity (RH) Bóveda packs to use in a 200-cigar humidifier. Each packet is individually wrapped in cellophane, making it easy to open the correct number of packets based upon humidor size. Bóveda recommends, 2-3 packets for 0-50 cigars and then an additional packet per 50-cigar capacity. My 200-cigar humidor was already seasoned at 72%, but Bóveda also sells 84% RH seasoning packets so I did not season the humidor prior to use.

For my 200-cigar humidor that was about half full, I placed six packets around the humidor. Having used multiple different humidifying methods in the past, I was somewhat skeptical that these packets would maintain proper humidity. However, over the course of about eight weeks the packets maintained a stable humidity of 72-71%. For my first refill, I added a seventh packet and found that the humidity stayed in the same range for almost eleven weeks. I should also mention that the RH only dropped a few percentage points around the two-month mark, so I would imagine they would maintain a decent humidity for at least several more weeks if you cannot find immediate replacements.

Overall, I was impressed with the Bóveda 72 packets. They are extremely simple to use and do an excellent job of maintaining a proper RH. Cost effectiveness would be my major complaint. These packets are not inexpensive considering how long they last and the number required for an average sized humidor. There are other less expensive humidifiers on the market; however, most require more than opening a wrapper and placing them in the humidor.

The individual packs are available in five different relative humidity levels: 65, 69, 72, 75, and 84%.

Bóveda packets are ready to use and do not require activation, water, or opening.

Bottom Line:

While not perfect, the Boveda 72 humidity control packs are an excellent, easy method to maintain humidity in most desktop humidors.

I have tried all the gels, tubes, and standard humidifiers out there. These are a bit more expensive, but they do the best job. And when they are keeping the humidity of $500 of tobacco in check, I spare no expense.

I wanted a simple way to keep a humidor at the propery humidity. These are the best thing since sliced bread for ease of use.

***Be careful thought, these packets are NOT FOR SEASONING a humidor. Boveda makes an 84% packet just for seasoning that 1st time, and then you use these 72% (or whatever percent you prefer) from then on.

I've used Boveda packs for over two years now with excellent results. My first experience was using a packet with a humidifying bag and I continued with that for at least 18 months with excellent results. Since then My collection grew and I purchased a humidor, which I seasoned with Boveda 84% packets and have maintained with the 72 and 69% packets. Boveda's support has been outstanding. They've taken great care of me!
