For those reviewers who have complained that this device does not stick, you should read the instructions!! I don't think you guys are giving the adhesive time to set. You can't just stick the metal to the wood and then stick the CM directly to it within seconds. It has failed every time I have ever tried to attach a humidification device to any of my humidors. If you read the instructions they tell you to adhere the metal square first and let the adhesive set before trying to attach the cigar mechanic device to it. I let mine set for 24 hours before I tried to attach it and it works beautifully!!

Bought this, thinking that I'd be receiving the large rectangular Cigar Mechanic humidifier, but much to my dismay what I received was the small round 25ct capacity humidifier, which was marked on the box by a sticker stating "large humidifier". Suffice to say I was far from pleased; however I ended up putting it to use in one of my humidors (24).

This humidifier is pretty easy to use and it works ok. However, I just looked in my box a few days a go and found a ton of mold growing on the bottom shelf. I also had a cigar ruined recently due to mold. Will have to keep looking for a better solution.

EDIT 1/4/12:

After dealing with the mold issue, I tried raising the unit off the wood panel of my humidifier by 1/2 inch. I've gotten no mold since then and am keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Secret Slide Lock Humidor

This is a 12 cigar humidor. Note that before anything else. The quick description in bullet points at the top of the page says 25, but if you read the paragraph product description, you'll see it says 12, as does the box visible in one of the pictures.

And, it may be kind of small even for 12 sticks, but I think most humidors probably overestimate.

That being said, it is a beautiful box and the slide-lock is a nice novelty feature that also seems to add to the seal on the box.

The humidifier and hygrometer which are included will work, but are not great. This is common for these included accessories. I'm using them for now, but will eventually replace with a bead humidifier and a digital hygrometer. You might want to consider doing this from the start.

All-in-all, this box will be a great addition to a desktop for access to some favorite sticks. It won't store a serious collection, but that's not the point of a 12 count humidor.

I ordered this humidor for my boyfriend for his birthday. The estimated day of delivery had long passed and I still didn't have it. The order status just said "in transit" for about a week. Finally, I emailed the seller (who was none too hospitable or apologetic, although they did respond somewhat timely) and they promised to resend it . Luckily, it came the day before his birthday. Also, when I got it, it says it only holds 12 cigars on the box, NOT 25 like this description claims up top. In the end, I wouldn't do this again. I order a lot of things through amazon and this particular purchase has made me doubt doing it again. The quality is okay...definitely not worth the money though, considering the delay and that it holds less than they claim...if you're looking for a fine, inexpensive, quality humidor, I'd avoid this one it's not worth the money or hassle.

Art Deco - 60 Cigars Humidor

I recently stopped smoking cigarettes and switched to smoking cigars on occasion. So I ordered this humidor to house my modest collection of stogies. It came in perfect condition and I was pleasantly surprised by its excellent build quality, which is definitely worth the asking price in my opinion.

I went through the trouble of calibrating the included hygrometer only to discover that it was unnecessary since it came perfectly calibrated out of the box. Another pleasant surprise!

It's also one of the very few humidors that are under-reporting their capacities. For a 60-cigar humidor I have it housing 15 short Churchill-sized cigars, 60 coronas, and about a dozen or so petit coronas. So far it's maintaining a relative humidity between 66 and 72, which is slightly less than ideal. But I think it would be easy to stabilize it using some humidifier gel or a better humidifier unit.

I have to take one star off because it came with no instructions whatsoever. It's nothing that a little googling won't solve. But still, even a single sheet of usage instructions would have been helpful.

But I'm still liking so much that I'm considering getting its younger bother, The Art Deco 30 Cigars Humidor.

This filter is a great filter. It keeps your air moist throughout its use. The more mineral content you have in your water, the shorter the filter life, so use filtered water when possile.

It's quite dry here, so the humidifier runs for extended periods of time. This one stopped wicking water after a few weeks. (The OEM ones usually last a few months)

I recently got a great new humidor for my cigars and I live in Colorado. It's almost impossible to keep the humidity up so I've been known to use a shot glass full of distilled water, drymistat tubes and several other options (all at the same time) to try and keep it up. The idea of an automatic humidifier appealed to me, but I didn't like the aesthetics of using a plug-in one and snaking the cable on the wall.

The Cigar Oasis appealed to me because it comes with both a battery pack and a power cord (with a small ribbon cable that can fit between the hings on your humidor).

I put new batteries in, set it to 70 and let it sit in my humidor for a week. My hygrometer in my humidor never went above 60, even tho the Cigar Oasis said it was 80%. I contacted support and they said it was set to 70% at the factory and that I should try it plugged in but that if I was confident in my hygrometer reading it included instructions for how to recalibrate it. I did that and messed with it daily for the next week or so and it never really helped.

2 weeks in it ran out of water (supposed to last at least 3 months). I refilled it with distilled water and the next day the batteries died (supposed to last 3-6 months).

I finally gave up and plugged it in. A couple days later it seems to be running perfectly, altho I now need to recalibrate it again. I hate the look of the plug, but what are you going to do?

So, end result, it works great plugged in. On batteries it sucks power and never quite works right.

Honeywell H12012 Replacement Filter for Dirt Devil F16

I bought this filter and it did not fit properly AT ALL! The plastic piece that went over it kept on falling into the container while vacuuming. It made it very difficult to put the canister back in place as well. It caused the vacuum to lose suction which made the hose constantly clog forcing me to take the whole hosing off to unclog it each time. At first I thought it was the vacuum itself that was the problem but after buying a dirt devil produced filter it worked like new again. I would not recommend this product.

buying another one, last one I bought was a perfect replacement. I don't understand some of the other reviews, apparently they either ordered the wrong part for the vac that they own or got an incorrect part and should have returned it. It fit just fine into the canister on the vac, you have to know how it fits and put it on correctly. If you know what you are doing, you should have no problems

I replaced the stock paper and foam filter in my Red Devil vacuum with this product, but it seems that it is TOO restrictive to the airflow. The vacuum does a very poor job at picking up since replacing the filter, and I feel the brushes shooting particles back at my feet and ankles rather than getting sucked up by the vacuum. There seems to be far more dust on the Honeywell foam filter than with the original, which would be great if it didn't result in far fewer big particles and objects from being picked up.

AcuRite 613 Indoor Humidity Monitor

Well like everyone else says, this product is ok for temperature but leaves a lot to be desired for reading humidity. This being said, with a few mods it works fine as a hygrometer. I added a few more holes with a drill approx 1/8" and now it actually reads humidity quite well. I added a total of 13 holes around the unit, 5 on each side and 3 on the bottom. Now it adjusts the humidity reading every 15-20 seconds and levels out in about 10 minutes and actually reads the right humidity when compared to my dial hygrometer. So this tells me that there is a design flaw with the amount of air flow allowed by the factory vents, thus not allowing the unit to process the volume of air needed to make accurate readings.

ok had it a week and like another reviewer stated the LCD readout has gone blank in a few spots. not dim just not there anymore. Its junk. Off to buy another Hygrometer from someone else.

Bought 2 of these the other day. Opened them up, put in the battery, and they were ready to go. I bought two of them so I could install them in each of my childrens bedrooms so I could tell the range of the temp and humidity each of thier rooms. First I put these next to my house thermostat which has a current temp and humidity displayed. After 1 hour of being in the same room right next to the thermostat both of the Cheney units read exactly what the temp was, and the humidity on both units were the reading the exact same (7 units higher) then my house thermostat. I don't know if my house unit is accurate or not but at least the two Cheney units read the same for temp & humidity. If they read differently than each other than I would say they weren't accurate but since both read the exact same things I give them two thumbs up and agree this is a great buy, especially since it displays the current temp and humidity and displays the daily low/high for each. Great Product!!!! Small, lightweight, has magnet on back to stick to fridge or can use clip to attach it to belt, or anything it can clip to. It also can be placed on a desk, shelf, etc but standing it on end with the attached stilt.

I bought this same hygrometer packaged as Acu-Rite brand from a Mill's Fleet Farm for $9.99 more than a year ago. I've always had it turned on since then, and I've never had to change the batteries. I tested the unit not long after I bought it and again just yesterday (using the NaCl and distilled water test and the Boveda humidipak kit) and after 8 hours the display stabilized at 75% just as it should. I also made a Potassium Carbonate test and it was stable at 43% after ~18hrs. This is great to see from a $10 unit. I've traveled with this product and it has held up through that as well. I've never tested the accuracy of the thermometer, as I mainly bought this instrument to read RH in an instrument (guitar) room, and guitar cases. I've also owned "The Weather Channel" brand weather stations with built in hygrometers that were more than twice the cost of this product, and found them to read more than 10% off when testing.

Maybe I got lucky and happened to buy a accurate unit, but from my experience with this I highly recommend buying yourself one.

PS I have since had relatives buy these units and they were not as accurate as the one I bought, so I guess I really might have just been lucky. The other units seemed to report higher humidity then existed (when RH was 40%, they showed +3-5%, which is considerable). The plus side is that they don't seem to get worse over time, so if you know the unit to be off by a certain amount, you should be able to predict the actual RH.

We use a number of these in our cabinet shop and at job sites. Despite other's complaints about accuracy, we have found them to be quite reasonable, especially considering their low price. If you put ours side by side they will all stabilize to within a few percent of each other. They are small, yet the display is very easy to read. They use only a single AA battery. The only down side is that the 24 hour high and low display is not resettable without taking out the battery, but that's only a down side if you are looking for min/max in a time frame other than 24 hours.

A cap full of salt in a baggie with your hygrometer will give you the plus or minus that your hygrometer is off. That's all you need to know to be accurate with your readings. The salt is always 75%. If your hygrometer reads 82%, then its reading +7. Simply subtract 7 from your hygrometers reading to get the actual humidity. It's really that simple.

I looked into a bunch of different ones and this one was very affordable. I have been using it for hardwood floor installations, because humidity can really be a factor. The readings have been dead on and it has a nice large display, simple to use. Good product!

Ordered this 40 hours before delivery (Excellent time)! Product worked immediately upon inserting the included AAA battery (another + for the included battery). But there is no instruction manual, nor any instructions on the product packaging. F° or C° conversion is a button on the back--simple enough for anyone to figure out. Min/Max and Clear buttons' function becomes clear once you push them a few times. However, the clock started at 12 AM, and so was totally off. I don't intend to use it as a clock, but seeing a digital readout that is completely off-base is irritating. So unless I waited up until midnight and then pulled the battery and started over, I was going to have to look for an instruction manual. Apparently I can't ask Amazon for a manual for this, so I then did a Google search for "GSI" and "Hygrometer", where I found as the 3rd hit a "Fixya" page for trouble shooting GSI hygrometers. That led me to a trouble-shooting site. I found a manual, opened up the .pdf and found instructions for a much more expensive model, (Radio Shack # 63-1090), which had instructions on setting the time. So, I set the time. If you push the buttons on the front, at one point an alarm bell appears, but since there are no instructions, absolutely no way to figure out how to use that. (Not that I ever intend to use it as an alarm, but irritating nonetheless.)

The temperature appears to track with other thermometers in the house. Humidity reading accuracy is not determined, but is currently reading 40% in one room by the humidifier and 35% in another room in a Minnesota house using forced air heating, so this reading is probably close. (The the only hygrometers I have here have been stuck for some years at 70% and 50%.)

I purchased this model about 2 years ago. We live in Nothern MN and in the winter it is very dry. This particular humidifier we use in my 4 year old son's room. This past weekend my wife and I awoke to the sound of a fire alarm and the smell of smoke. We quickly got up and I ran for the fire extinguisher in the kitchen. I realized it was coming from upstairs. As I ran through the hallway I saw my son standing there shaking. I ran into the stairwell and saw smoke. When I got upstairs it was filled with thick gray smoke. I went into my son's room and saw the humidifier belching smoke. I immediately unplugged the machine and opened the windows to get a breath. The humidifier malfunctioned. When it runs out of water it is supposed to enter a stand-by mode. Purchased this unit because of the price and it was filter free. Worked well for a few months and then quit working. The reset light wont turn off. I have followed the cleaning directions as stated in the directions and am now left with a unit that does nothing. Don't waste your money on this. I am never buying another unit from them again.

I ordered this unit used because I know the hit and miss with humudifiers. First the unit is quite large, the water tank is odd shaped and doesn't hold enough water for me personally. It also leaks a small amount on the rear of the unit directly below the screw, on high I would call the amount significant. Running on setting number 2 or high the water supply last approx 5 to 6 hours. It works well and puts out a decent amount of moisture but I would not purchase again.

Cheap model, no humidistat, runs continuously until empty. Sounds like a coffee percolator that you can hear throughout the adjacent rooms. Sunbeam should stay with kitchen appliances like their toasters that were the best. Took it back to Walmart. The whole water tank gets very warm, waste of electricity!!

My mother has one for over 2 years and it worked flawlessly and whisper quiet. Then, filling it one day, she dropped the tank and it cracked around the bottom seam. I went to Walmart to buy another, set it up, and it: 1)was already cracked at the top (which I did not notice until later) and 2)leaked no matter what I did to re-seat the tank and investigate the problem. Returned it to Walmart and used a good clear 2-part epoxy Loctite Megabond Poxy-Pak Fast Cure Clear Two-Part Epoxy, 1 oz syringe to seal and fix my mother's cracked tank. Now her unit works perfectly again. I would definitely buy another, despite recently getting a defective one. It's just continued to work so perfectly for my mother.
