HAC-504 Aftermarket Honeywell Humidifier Wick Filter

HAC-504 Aftermarket Honeywell Humidifier Wick FilterThe wick works just fine although it plainly had been in its box, folded in half for quite some time. I had to re-shape it, put it in a small box, and leave it overnight in the box to make it sufficiently round to fit my humidifier. I have had no problems with it since then. I was impressed considering the age of my humidifier.

These are the filters to use, much thicker and better wicking capability. Great value for a replacement filter. I really like these.

Bell and Howell Ionic Whisper Air Purifier and Ionizer

Bell and Howell Ionic Whisper Air Purifier and IonizerNice compact size-can be moved easily. Does freshen the air in the room noticeably. On whisper setting is almost silent. On Turbo setting can be heard but in no way impinges on life, maybe would sleeping. Does shoot out air but does not "blow" with any force. Over time, like a day, all the air in our 20'x20' living area changes. Did have a noticeable plastic like new odor the first few days of use which wore off. Haven't had any build up on the collection grid in these 2 weeks, but it would be easy to clean. Now after several months of use I change my 4 stars to 1. The low setting quit. The ozone emitted gave us headaches and irritated lungs. Ozone is toxic. I returned the product for a refund.

We bought this ionizer for our home. It worked great the first few days, then started flickering on and off. It has not worked properly since.

It worked more or less ok for a few months except for the dang ozone smell you get sometimes, and then a few days ago I decided to clean the inside tube but after I reinserted it the thing stopped working. They designed this so poorly that the switch to turn it on is embedded with the button to take the removable panel off so any slight force will break the whole darn thing.

I was close to order an oreck one for cheap but decided against it and cancelled the order after learning you have to buy new filters. Was deciding to get the XL model but learned those things are garbage as well after reading the negative reviews.

I have severe allergies so i guess I'll figure out other homeopathic remedies to relieve my symptoms.

I ordered this unit, not expecting to much considering its size and price, and the name, but i was, to say the least, pretty impressed. On silent it does not move air, period, and there is a "hisssss" that can be annoying. On "turbo" i.e. a fan moving the air, there isn't a hiss and it is fairly quiet, i couldn't hear it over my ceiling fan. After about a day i opened it up and looked at the collection filter, and as i suspected i didn't see anything, but i took a damp clean white paper towel and wiped it off, and lo and behold there was actually stuff that came off. I was suprised, and thought it might have just been dust and stuff that were there already, so i put the filter back in and a couple days later i cleaned it again, and there was more. The only reason i give this a 4 is because on mine the switch broke and i could not turn it off.

It worked for 3 days and never worked again. The cover was extremely difficult to remove. I thought Bell and Howell would be a dependable brand name. I would rather have donated $28 to charity than the garbage can.

25-cigar Riviera Humidor

25-cigar Riviera Humidor
  • keeps under 25 cigars
  • brass frame hygrometer
  • comes with a round humidifier
  • Lined with premium kiln dried Spanish cedar
  • features a scratch-resistant felt lined bottom

I am very happy with this humidor. It is a well crafted box with a beautiful classy look. The hindges work smoothly with no sign of flaw. There is no gap in the seems and no signs of leak. As a first time humidor buyer I would like to have seen more literature with this product to guide me on set up and use. I was also a little unhappy with waiting for my humidor for nearly a month. In all fairness I am stationed overseas, however I receive other products ordered on line in 7-10 days. This humidor does come with a humifier and a hydrometer which work fine, but they are very cheap devices. I felt compelled to purchase better working devices to replace them. Regardless, I would still recommend the purchase of the humidor if you need a small desk top humidor to store 10 to 25 cigars. Considered the cheap devices as freebees. I did have to contact customer service regarding this order as one item was missing upon delivery. The customer response and support was outstanding and definately made up for my disappointments on this order.

The Hygrometer is worthless. The Humistat is a foam filled type unit. Humistat works well. Just remember on the initial charge do not use a 50/50 solution. 1 part glycol to 6 parts distilled water and it will hold 70% humidity for a month per fill. The actual Humidor is fantastic. Seals nicely. Provides a slight spice to cigars like true Spanish Cedar should. Just replace the crap Hygrometer with a good digital and it's a perfect unit.

This isn't the best Humidor in the world, but you can't beat the quality for the price you pay. It's large and sturdy, plus it looks good on my end table. The adhesive on the included hydrometer is a little weak, but some crazy glue took care of that in a jiffy. I would definitely recommend this for someone who is looking for a way to store and display their cigars tastefully but doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money.

This humidor is great for a first time humidor buyers, like myself. It's real spanish cedar on the inside that make your cigars smell and taste delicious. The outside looks classy and elegant, despite it being veneer. The humidor comes with a small humidifier and hygrometer. The sticky material used to hold the humidifier and hygrometer to the lid of the humidor doesn't stay well, so I had to super glue it on. The humidifier has a nice magnetic backing so you can remove it from the base and refill it with distilled water/propylene glycol (which I just use cheap rewetting eye drops). It also comes with an instruction booklet that tells you how to break in (season) your humidor, charging and filling your humidifier, calibration of the hygrometer, and how to store and clean it. The supplied hygrometer, however, doesn't have a small screw on the back to calibrate it if it is off, so you'll just have to know that it's off by 10, 15, 20, etc. Though there are those few minor deficiencies, the price offsets them. If you're a first time humidor buyer, you don't want to spend a lot of money, and you're not sure what to buy, I highly recommend this model.

Good item for the price but hygrometer is somewhat cheap but replacing it with a better one it works just fine.

Drymistat Humidifier Tube-2 Pack

Drymistat Humidifier Tube-2 PackI lost about 4 sticks when my block humidifier leakes at the seam. It was really irritating. While looking to order a new one, I saw these.

I LOVE that they are the size & shape of a cigar, they fit perfect and take much less room that other humidification systems. I have 6 of them tending to about 100 sticks and my cigars are always perfect.

I have a backup humidor and I think the next time I order a couple of boxes/bundles, I may season it up and get a few more of these for overflow.

Great product!

These tubes are quite possibly the best idea if you have a travel humidor. They are the perfect size and density to keep 4-6 cigars perfectly plump for a week or two while on holiday.

They include a perforated cap for easy refill and use while reducing spillage. Further, they are sized like a nice 42 ringer so they fit almost anywhere. Moreover, you can keep them in your regular humidor while not travelling to even out humidity in larger humidor environments.

5-stars and well worth it.

I've tried other products, and although they work just as well, the tube shape works best for my humidor. The canisters don't fit well, but I can lay the tubes amongst my cigars as if they were cigars themselves, so they humidify the cigars more evenly, and they don't eat up the space that canisters do in the humidor.

These are fantastic. Just add water, wait (or you'll leak all over your humidor) a couple minutes for it to absorb. About the size of a 50 ring cigar in your humidor. You can put your cigars right on top of it, or, as I do, mix these in between your stacks of stogies. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star review is that my experience is that you need one more than they claim to maintain decent RH levels. Can't blame my humidor...it's a Daniel Marshall in perfect shape.

Bought two at first and they seemed to have issue keeping my 50 cigar humidor constant. Upgraded to 4 and been running smooth, have yet to need to recharge them.

ProTec Antimicrobial Humidifier Cleaning Cartridge

ProTec Antimicrobial Humidifier Cleaning CartridgeThe product keeps the tank clean and easy to take care of the humidifier. I have never used a product like this before.

My humidifier has only gotten worse (as in dirtier, more stained) since I put this in it. I guess it's time to take it out since it doesn't seem to do anything.

Used in an evaporative humidifier. Handle makes it easy to remove and move around. Doesn't seem to last as long as previous purchase of similar products.

I like this. It drops inside the humidifier tank, and keeps the goo out for about 28 days. It does not eliminate the need to keep the tank rinsed, clean, safe per all manufacturing instructions. It is a boost, not a substitute.

Yh Lh Vicks 1.5 Gal Vaporizer

Yh Lh Vicks 1.5 Gal VaporizerWe bought this unit to help humidify our house in the winter. Past experiences with cool mist humidifiers were poor having to clean mysterious brown gunk off the electronic innards was disturbing. If you're like me, you'll pretend you don't see the brown gunk. This strategy works great until the gunk becomes a pulsating biohazard that threatens to move about on its own. Warm mist humidifiers don't seem to have this problem. The Vicks Vaporizer looked a bit wimpy, but with itchy skin and static electricity zapping about, anything was better than nothing. Besides, it's cheap.

First, the unit puffs out warm odorless steam as advertised. The manual says you have to add salt to the water to really get the steam going and warns vaguely about blowing fuses if you get carried away. This made me curious, so I got out my Kill-A-Watt power meter (very cool gadget by the way) to see how much juice this thing used. Turns out it REALLY matters how much salt you add. The vaporizer was puffing steam like crazy, and using over a kilowatt of power. I emptied and refilled the water, adding the maximum recommended amount of salt (1/4 teaspoon). Steam production was still fine at a more reasonable 450 Watts.

Since I had the power meter hooked up, I wondered just how efficiently the Vicks produced steam. 450 Watts running all night is enough to want my money's worth. So, I performed a test. I filled the tank with exactly 192 ounces of room temperature water, added the salt, and plugged it into the power meter for the night. By morning it was done and the power meter read 0 Watts. There was still quite a bit of water in the tank, which I measured to be 50 ounces. The power meter said 3.15 kilowatt-hours (kWh) had been used. So, it took 3.15 kWh to vaporize 192 50 = 142 ounces of room temperature water. Is this reasonable? I calculated the energy required to vaporize 142 ounces of water as:

Energy to raise 142 oz from 21.1 C to 100 C = 0.37 kWh

Energy to boil 142 oz at 100 C = 2.53 kWh

Total = 2.9 kWh

So, the Vicks is about 92% energy efficient. Not bad.

Our electricity costs 8.3 cents per kWh, so the vaporizer costs me 26 cents per tank.

I'm very happy with the Vicks considering the price. Rather than spend much more on a big unit, I'll just buy a couple more of these.

To summarize:

The Good

* Uses no energy when tank runs low. Good for safety and economy.

* 92% energy efficient (about 26 cents of electricity per tank).

* Except for the steam itself, no outside surfaces get hot.

* Has a little light on top so you don't bump it in the dark.

The Bad (minus 1 star)

* Can't vaporize a full 1.5 gallons. Leaves about a quarter tank.

* Black particles appear in the tank. They don't stick to anything and rinse away easily. I suspect these are some electrolytic byproduct from running electricity through the salty water.

I've been using these for 4 years now. I've purchased four and only pitched one (though I'm about to replace the second one I purchased because it's not putting out the steam it's 4 years old). (I number them so I know which older/younger.)

Pro:

They're cheap! I can purchase 10 of these for what it would cost to purchase a nice ultrasonic humidifier.

No gross filters. No funky chemicals.

When it doesn't work or gets gross, I'll pitch it.

Supposedly warm mist grows less bacteria than cool mist (verify this, I read it several years ago and may be wrong).

Cleaning is easy. Warm vinegar removes the scale that builds up over time.

Con:

I have to refill them about 3 times a day.

Though the company does not recommend it, I pretty much run them 24/7 when at home. I unplug them before leaving the house no need to start a fire.

Here in Nevada the humidity is extremely low. With three of these running my home feels warmer and the humidity gets up to 33% (still really low). The humidity helps both my skin and my sinuses.

We've had a few of these for years. Don't run them all the time, but when we use them they work perfectly. Any sputtering is caused by the quality of the water. You do have to rinse out the reservoir every so often. If the water gets too low or too gunky it will sputter. Completely expected in a vaporizer. The night light feature is nice.

I used to use these humidifiers every night, and they do put out a lot of nice warm moisturebut they are a pain to fill, a pain to clean, and with my water I have to add salt. After a while the output goes down and it starts to bubble/overboil and spit. Don't use this for an everyday humidifier, I never would for everyday, but I would spend the 12 bucks to get one for a week or two's use if I got sick. I do not know if a cool mist humidifier like the one I just bought would do so well for a cold.

The Vicks models are cheap to buy and cheaply made...not for long term or heavy duty use.

Want Yh Lh Vicks 1.5 Gal Vaporizer Discount?

There is an area next to the night light on top of the unit where you can add medicated/scented oil to be mixed in with the steam.

Pros:

I am very sensitive to noise when sleeping so I have been searching for a very quiet humidifier. I have bought 5 humidifiers, all different brands and prices (all more expensive than this one), but they were all too noisy for me.

It is easy to clean. I get hard water in my area, but the mineral does not stick to the tub, so I can just rinse it out. When I opened up the unit trying to clean the internal components (not recommended by the manufacturer), I noticed the electrodes (used to heat the water) are made from some ceramic-like material, and the mineral does not deposit on them as much (other humidifiers have stainless steel electrodes or plates that seem to collect mineral). I was able to use a spoon to scrape off some mineral on the electrodes and pour out the loose flakes of mineral that are trapped inside the electrodes' containment area. I normally clean out the mineral every 6 months (and I use this humidifier every night).

Cons:

No shut off timer. It shuts off automatically when water gets to a minimum level. If you want it on only for a couple of hours, instead of all night, just pour in less water.
