Soleus Air PH3-12R-03, Portable Air Conditioner/Heater/Dehumidifier/Fan, 12,000 BTUs
After the terrible process of having to return a damaged portable AC unit of another brand just a week earlier, I was relieved to see when this one arrived at my door in rather robust packaging. Lifting it out of its "easy open" outer box and inner cardboard crate, I was able to observe its features in person for the first time. The multi-color display is a nice touch; the bright VFD display provides simple animations of the unit's current function, as well as a basic clock (used for setting the on/off timer), and the current temperature setting. The remote control sits in a holster on the back of the unit. I found the remote to be a bit bland, with all the buttons but the power button the same size and no distinction of the most frequently used buttons (i.e. temperature, mode) from the less frequently used extras (i.e. sleep mode, Celsius/Fahrenheit setting). The use of the remote is limited anyways since the display on the unit sits facing upward, preventing you from seeing what you are doing unless you are hovering above it.
Installation is pretty straightforward. The user's manual includes several photographs of the installation process, which doesn't differ much from any single-hose portable AC on the market. You simply screw the hose into the adapters and attach the adapters onto the back of the unit and onto the adjustable panel which you close in your window.
So now the important part: how it works. I found the unit to perform quite well. The AC function is plenty cool, and with three fan settings, you can adjust the level of output (and noise) to the current conditions. The heat pump also works well, and I was impressed with the fact that the unit waits to start blowing air into the room until the heat pump has begun generating warm air. That way, on a cold winter's day you won't get a rush of cold air in your face while the unit starts up. After your set temperature is reached, the unit shuts down completely (including the fan). Perhaps handy for some people is an auto mode which automatically heats if the temperature is below 68°F, dehumidifies if the temperature is between 68°F and 80°F, and cools if over 80°F. There also is an oscillation feature which helps circulate the air into the room.
As others have said, this AC unit is not super quiet. While in fan-only mode, the noise is minimal, but while heating, cooling, or dehumidifying, the exhaust fan in the back of the unit adds a considerable amount more. While nobody will be fooled into thinking a jet is landing, some may find it difficult to sleep with the unit in the room if it is doing anything but circulating air.
Just another quick note about draining the water bucket... be prepared to empty it no less often than most air conditioning units, regardless of what the manufacturer claims it can evaporate through the hose. I also agree with others who have said that the drainage plug is really close to the ground, so you may want to place it on a hard surface or elevate it slightly to assist in the drainage process. You do get a short hose and drip pan in the box to help you empty the moisture into a larger pan, but you may want to keep a towel handy as well.
Overall, this air conditioner/heat pump unit is a economical choice if you need all-season comfort in an area of your home. Various room-size estimations abound, some even rating this unit up to 500 sq. ft. My suggestion is that you use this unit for no more than a single large room, as you will probably see much worse performance if you try to heat or cool an entire floor with it. But for supplemental heating or cooling, you really cannot go wrong with the Soleus Air PH3-12R-03.I had this AC unit for less than 1 months and it now SCREAMS! due to a bad pump. The manufacturer said they would "look at it" but I had to pay the shipping cost to ship to them in CA. Not worth the cost of the shipping, Total waste of money. NEVER buy from Soleus! Crap manufacturing, cheap plastic parts. poor warranty service. $400 just thrown away for something that only work for 2 months at best! I'd give zero stars if I could! DO NOT BUY, you have been warned!!!!!!

I just bought this 3 weeks ago. After numerous window units I thought I would try a portable unit so I could direct the air where I wanted it. First of all this unit was difficult to install. The directions were terrible. I have had a lot less problem with my previous window units. 12,000 BTU's should cool my entire living/dining room. It works okay if you are directly in front of it, but 8-10 feet away just so so. It is as loud as any window unit I have had. It does not cool down to lowest temp so compressor is always on. After running it quite a bit for three days I just had to drain the condensation holding tank which was an experience in and of itself! The plug is on the bottom about a half inch from the floor. It is below the hose so you have to remove that. When you remove the cap, there is no type of plug, so the water immediately begins pouring into the pitiful plastic drainage tray that is provided that holds about 1/2 cup at the most. With a 1.5 liter tank to drain you need to also have a bucket or a bowl and plenty of towels as I found it impossible to stop the flow trying to empty the tray of water into the bucket. Long story short, don't waste your money. Way to expensive for the hassle. I'm going to go have a beer and make up with my dogs who are quivering outside after hearing my yelling of obscenities during the drainage process.Got this unit today and for some reason the unit itself was covered in grease, something like a motor oil.Anyway, set it up and powered on, after 2 hr running, the unit was blow AIR only even on COLD mode.
Called Amazon to get unit return and they told me I will have to pay $60 $80 return shipping charge for defective unit.
I will never buy and electric unit from Amazon again. I never have any problem to get full refund from other online retailer.

We purchased this product in February, hoping to use it as a heater in the winter and AC for the summer. However, the heat could never come on even when the temperature was set at 80 degree. We contacted the dealer and the manufacture for technical support, it simply would not work. The manufacture agreed to take this unit back and sent us another one. But the new one they sent us had the same problem. We experienced lengthy email, phone conversations back and forth, they just could not make their "heater" to generate any heat. They promised to send us another one, but we decided to return this product. The end story is that we were charged for both way shipping twice for the two defective products. Thus, I strongly suggest stay away from this product, also stay away from this dealer and this manufacture!!!Tuesday, May 6, 2014
Drymistat Humidifier Tube-2 Pack
I LOVE that they are the size & shape of a cigar, they fit perfect and take much less room that other humidification systems. I have 6 of them tending to about 100 sticks and my cigars are always perfect.
I have a backup humidor and I think the next time I order a couple of boxes/bundles, I may season it up and get a few more of these for overflow.
Great product! These tubes are quite possibly the best idea if you have a travel humidor. They are the perfect size and density to keep 4-6 cigars perfectly plump for a week or two while on holiday.
They include a perforated cap for easy refill and use while reducing spillage. Further, they are sized like a nice 42 ringer so they fit almost anywhere. Moreover, you can keep them in your regular humidor while not travelling to even out humidity in larger humidor environments.
5-stars and well worth it.

I've tried other products, and although they work just as well, the tube shape works best for my humidor. The canisters don't fit well, but I can lay the tubes amongst my cigars as if they were cigars themselves, so they humidify the cigars more evenly, and they don't eat up the space that canisters do in the humidor. These are fantastic. Just add water, wait (or you'll leak all over your humidor) a couple minutes for it to absorb. About the size of a 50 ring cigar in your humidor. You can put your cigars right on top of it, or, as I do, mix these in between your stacks of stogies. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star review is that my experience is that you need one more than they claim to maintain decent RH levels. Can't blame my humidor...it's a Daniel Marshall in perfect shape.Bought two at first and they seemed to have issue keeping my 50 cigar humidor constant. Upgraded to 4 and been running smooth, have yet to need to recharge them.Tuesday, March 18, 2014
Hamilton Beach Blue Humidifier Replacement Filter

I have used replacement filters for my small humidifier that were not True Air brand ones and they did not work as long nor as effectively as these. They are worth a bit more money to get these for the True Air humidifier, in my opinion. They do not get as "grungy" as fast as the generic ones I have purchased in the past.Read Best Reviews of Hamilton Beach Blue Humidifier Replacement Filter Here
Had a humidifier sitting around without a filter for a long time. Found the right filter on Amazon very cheap and was delivered very quick (very pleased with Amazon shipping in general, for this and all of my prior purchases). The filter fits well and my humidifier is back in service now. Not much else to say it's just a filter -it fits, it works, and it was cheap.Want Hamilton Beach Blue Humidifier Replacement Filter Discount?
This was a nice filter, but expensive for something that will only last less than a month.Saturday, November 30, 2013

The spring/cotton/sensor didn't work well after a refill. The stream of mist turned into puffs of mist. I tried replacing the cotton nothing...I have to tilt the lid to make it work (yes it was opened. It was the only way the sensor door stays all the way open). The sensor was not working correctly. When the little slider is open all the way, it works great. If they can improve on the product, I think it will be awesome. Great concept, bad parts & lots of typos in the instruction.Read Best Reviews of Doulex Mini Coffee Cup Mist Humidifier USB powered Here
My office manager ordered about 5 of these for those of us who wanted some around our static-heaven office. We all squealed with delight at the great little "cup" design. Setting it up was an hour of fun for all, as we had to muddle through "Engrish" instructions and do a little tailoring for each machine to get it to function properly. The tricks that worked for some (gently poking the silver top where the mist was supposed to appear from with a pencil tip, jiggling the plastic shaft that holds the filter, etc.) didn't work for others and one simply didn't work straight out of the box, no matter what we did (I believe we got a working replacement for the crap one). Mine worked excellently, pouring out a fine, cold mist for just under 3 months, and then abruptly stopped, with the cup still full of water. The replacement refill didn't start it going again and none of the previous tricks worked. After that, when plugged in, the lid would heat up scarily, though nothing else would happen. Honestly, the cup design is brilliant, but you get what you pay for (I think my office manager snagged them for about $10 each) and if you really want something that will function efficiently for a long time, this is not the product.Want Doulex Mini Coffee Cup Mist Humidifier USB powered Discount?
After reading all the reviews I was hesitant to buy this product but still decided to give it a shot. The only positive about this product, if it would have worked, is the look of it without looking inside. I received the product, followed the very hard to understand instruction with poor grammar and spelling errors, and tried it on 3 different computers but this little cup just won't even turn on! I would have to say this company probably has zero QA process so it's kind of hit or miss, and I'm joining the zero star group.
Wish the next person buying it good luck...or just stay away from it!

Holmes HM3656U Cool Mist Console Humidifier w/ Humidistat, 22w x 15d x 18h
Positives:
Overall, it seems like a well-built unit, not flimsy. Vapor output is substantial. It does a good job of keeping the first floor of our 2500 sq. ft. home above 50%, and that is with the forced hot air furnace blowing dry, hot air all the time. It holds enough water to run 24 hours non-stop before refilling. Has a built-in humidistat, (not sure of accuracy, but seems close.) Has an indicator light for when it needs re-filled.
Negatives:
Auto-setting is not great. As has been said elsewhere auto mode allows it to cycle on and off when it reaches a desired humidity level. But when it gets there, it cycles on-and-off non-stop. Seems like this would be hard on the motor. But I knew this going into the purchase, and just figured on turning on/off manually (like all our old humidifiers), so this was not a deal-breaker for me. Water tanks are not flat on top, so when you re-fill, you have to help hold them up, or they could fall over and crack. This isn't really that big a deal either, but it could have been more convenient. (Tanks are on the left & right sides of the unit in the photo.)
That's pretty much it. Unit comes with wheels that snap in on the bottom, which seem sturdy. But I've read that people have had these snap off on some units (not on a Holmes, but still made me nervous), so we don't wheel it around.
On other thing to be aware of. The directions say to place this on an interior wall. I believe that's to prevent condensation on a cold exterior wall (or inside the wall?). We didn't have a lot of interior wall space that was free. So, if that's an issue for you, just something to consider.
Overall, despite a couple of minor (for me) issues, I feel like this is a well-made unit that should last for many years. Not a cheap/disposable piece of plastic junk that so many manufacturers are putting out these days. Noise from the unit seems a little louder than on a room-size unit, but we have it a room we don't watch tv in, so that's not an issue for us. On Low, it's not bad at all, but on Medium, it would be distracting, and on High, would really interfere with watching tv. Again, I don't think it's abnormally loud for the size of the unit, just something to be aware of.We have had this unit for about 6 weeks. It's very easy to operate & move to different locations. It has a great filter indicator which displays when it needs to be changed. The water tanks need to be filled every other day. Cleaning the unit is very easy as well. There is a humidity indicator on the main panel. We do not run the unit during the day so in the morning we can see that the humidity level has risen from the high 40s to well into the 60s. We live in Arizona and it becomes very dry here during the winter season. This QUIET humidifier does the job in keeping sinuses, nasal passages moistened. Our brother-in-law who lives in Denver, Co (very, very dry) had the unit and was very happy with it. Since he is a respiratory therapist we thought that his recommendation and experience was was quite a positive review in our decision to purchase the unit. We were surprised by very negative review. We only use the unit on the constant cycle of 1(lowest cycle) and have not had a problem. We do agree the intermittant cycle would be annoying. We HIGHLY recommended this Holmes unit.

Purchased this model about a year ago. When using it in 'automatic' mode, the entire unit cycles (turns on & off) every 1 to 2 seconds. It's annoying & I can't see it lasting very long cycling so often. Called customer service & they said this is how it's supposed to work. Apparently Holmes doesn't know how to make a unit that has a buffer zone in it where it would turn on at say 30% and off at 35% humidity depending on what it's set at.Read Best Reviews of Holmes HM3656U Cool Mist Console Humidifier w/ Humidistat, 22w x 15d x 18h Here

Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier
UPDATE: Well, a month after I sent the defective unit in, I received a TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND MUCH CHEAPER UNIT in return. I am now on my THIRD phone call with these idiots and have yet to talk to someone who can resolve this problem. The right person is "not in the office" and will "call me back." HAH!! They NEVER call back. I wish I had never heard of these people. I've owned this humidifier for a couple of months now. The features that I like best about it are: it regulates the ambient humidity (i.e. the unit has a humidity sensor for the room) when it reaches the desired level it automatically stops the mist; also it gives you an indication when the unit needs to be cleaned (pretty simple process); and most important the unit stops when there's not enough water (again a little indicator flashes for your attention) furthermore, the unit is very well designed and has a very contemporary look highly recommended!

I have been using wick-based humidifiers for the past few years in the bedroom. Last year I noticed every morning when I woke and I used the humidifier, I was constantly congested. I stopped using it and looked for another type, leery of vaporizer types because of past experience with white dust.I found this AOS 7142....pricey, and I was worried about white dust...but I liked the concept of the silver bar to inhibit bacteria growth and the demineralization cartridge to minimize dust.
I have been very impressed so far. No lung congestion. No white dust....I live in the Dallas area.
Pros: effective, silent, maintained 600 ft bedroom at 50%; choice of warm mist (I think this setting works better, but more $$ to operate) or cold mist, styling, controls, full tank at full blast lasted about 14 hours.
Cons: filling water tank; it has a handle to carry water container back to unit, but none on the other side to hold the container when filling it....and it gets heavy. Plus the container cannot stand by itself upside down and tips over.
If it wasn't for this latter design flaw, I would give it 5 stars, but good enough to make me buy another one for my home office.

A very good humidifier, but with a couple of flaws. Very quiet, pumps out lots of warm mist at close to the 3.5 gal/day quoted rate. As such, the tank needs to be filled 2x daily if used full bore in a larger room. As with any ultrasonic humidifier that I've used, filling the tank can be cumbersome and, as some have pointed out, this tank has no flat surface to rest it on, making it unstable. But ignore comments about leaking, placement, etc. because they have NOTHING to do with the model, but more the style of humidifier (ultrasonic). Flaws: more white dust than usual with hard water because the filter has a design flaw. The washer seal on the tank plunger is supposed to double as a filter "anti-bypass" seal, but allows water to bypass the filter (it's undersized). Also, the humidity controller "hunts" on and off when the setpoint is reached, rapidly turning the mist on and off very annoying in the middle of the night. (For you engineers, there is no "hysteresis" in the control loop.) To avoid this, you need to raise the humidity setpoint higher than desired and lower the fan speed to keep the room level fairly constant, essentially turning the humidifier into a manual control model. (So why spend $200 for the fancy controls?) All in all, it pumps out humidity, it's easy to clean, it's very quiet, it's relatively easy to fill, the humidity is nice and warm (and doesn't freeze out the room), my throat no longer croaks in the morning, and my eyes aren't fused shut. BTW, we live in bone dry Colorado with forced hot air, and the unit is in a ~600 sq. ft BR with a 15' ceiling and adjoining master bath. It does the job nicely if run constantly. I would imagine that the reports about hard water being a big problem are right on. Still, for us: 4 stars.Want Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier Discount?
This humidifier is great for programing humidity, fan speed, sleep mode, etc.BUT IF YOU HAVE HARD WATER DO NOT BUY IT. It puts out white dust that will go all over your house. I have three Sharper Image Ionic breezes, on two floors of my house. I had to clean them every day and they were covered with white dust. Besides that; my furnature , TV screen, etc.were covered with white dust within two days. I buought a Honeywell with a exchangable filter that uses vapor rather than mist to humidify the air. This works great. Very little white dust. Half the cost.

I'm a new mom and I can pay for anything that good for my baby.I bought the Germ Guardian H1000 Ultrasonic Table Top Humidifier month ago.
Love the design, not too heavy to refill the water.
However, after been using it about a month, one day, the red light came up at front, so it's time to refill the water.
I picked the blue toppart up then the blue light inside went off and I smelled something burning inside of it. I thought it was ok to use it without the blue light.
But NO !!!!!, right after fill the water and put it back. It's not working any more.
Maybe I got the defect one, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it.
I would stick with other bulky humidifier which is a lot safer.
