Holmes Cool Mist Humidifier

Holmes Cool Mist HumidifierWe were in the market for a humidifier for the winter months due to sore throats/dry throats at night. So we purchased this unit. I've read reviews on other products and most of them did not give a clear enough why it was either bad nor good. So we figured might as well give this product a whirl being the price was right and we could return it at the local Target store.

To our surprise this unit works as intended albeit the unusually loud fan (even on the lowest setting). But to us the white noise it generates is actually welcomed in our bedroom. It's not any louder than my custom gaming computer fans that i leave on running at night. This product is used in our room which measures 17ftx17ft. The air humidity at night is just right now. For the first time in the winter months me and the wifey got good sleep!! we both woke up with no sore throats or dry sinuses!

So in short review here are the PRO's and CON's

PRO's : Works as advertised. capable of humidifying a room of 17ft x 17ft with ease. Water tank holds a good amount of water. Run time on it is 16hrs filled. Easy to fill tank. Easy to clean. Comes with 2 extra filters.

CON's : Slightly loud fan (if you like white noise at night) then this would be a plus :) Would be nicer if it had one more lower level for the fan speed for the people that complain about the slight noise.

This product is worth the price! would recommend it to anyone looking into a Humidifier for a bedroom or a living room.

I've had this humidifier for about 3 months now, and have been pleased! It does moisturize, but it seem so go through filters awfully fast (about 20 days or so, I think the box says...) I know some reviews say it is loud, but it is good for just white noise, actually. Only on the second setting is it a bit too loud.

This humidifier is essentially 3 pieces: the reservoir, the actual "unit" with the fan, and the base. A paper filter sits inside the actual "unit" with the dial, and sucks up water from the base. The fan blows on the wet filter and voila: humidifier.

The fan itself is fairly noisy much like a desk fan. You have the option to select low or high on the fan, and select a month from another dial which is completely useless.

The worst part about this unit is the fact that the filter lasts for about a week before it starts reeking. It is like your kitchen sponge, the stagnant water in the unit and the wet filter is a breeding ground for bacteria. You get 2 filters, but you'll go through them very quickly.

Works great for the size room I have it in! The only hang up is I wish I only had to fill it once a week instead of twicw!

These Holmes humidifiers are just great...they just wear out every so often when they are used continually during the winter months. I actually believe that as long as you change the filters when they need it that they enhance your health because you are keeping your nasal and breathing passages moist by keeping the air moist. I get these for both health and comfort reasons and I'm always pleased.

WF2010 Bionaire Humidifier Wick Filter

WF2010 Bionaire Humidifier Wick FilterHave own the bionaire humidifier for a long time and then suddenly could not find the filter. Contacted the company and they suggested contacting amazon. They had the filter. The only complaint is the item is very costly considering what I paid for the humidifier. The company that originally had the humidifier suggested purchasing a new humidifier that they carry. Before, reordering new filters I think I will considering getting a new humidifier.

IONIC 90TP201TW01-W THERAPURE 201 GERMICIDAL AIR P

IONIC 90TP201TW01-W THERAPURE 201 GERMICIDAL AIR PWe initially bought one for our basement to get rid of the mildewy smell. It worked so great that we bought another for our bedroom and then another for our motor home. I run them continously, clean them about month and my allergy problems nearly disappeared. My sister lives in a very old house and the basement has been wet more than once. She refinished it and put her bedroom down there and suddenly started having one sinus infection after another. I gave her the one from our motor home and within two days she had symptom relief. Now I am researching costs because my parents want to purchase one or two of them. The white noise that they produce is just an added bonus.

I started a new job in the fall of 2008 at a health clinic. I am never sick, but after starting the job I was sick for 4 months straight. Many of the people working here were sick frequently. We had tests done and found that the mold count was off the charts... It also didn't help that most of the people we see are sick. My agency was kind enough to purchase us one of these units for our office. We're sure to maintain it by cleaning the filters as instructed every month. It's been working for us for over a year and we haven't been sick since purchasing it!!!

This item is the best. We had people in the office constantly sick, either sinus, cold, even pneumonia last year. I purchased this item for the office, in particular the large area I sit and it has dramatically reduced our illnesses. It has the ultraviolet sensor that destroys viruses and it really works. Thank you so much.

I've had this air purifier for over 2 years now. I keep it in the bedroom and run it every night. It works great and has never given me any issues. Should this one ever wear out, I would definitely get another one. I highly recommend this product.

I've had this since a week before Christmas and I LOVE it! My mom stayed with me over the holidays and was so impressed by it, she went back home and bought herself one too. Its amazing that it cleans the air so well in my condo. I can breathe so much better and it has definitely cut down on the dust.

I plan on buying another one for my bedroom.

Holmes HM1761-U 2Gal Cool Mist Humidifier

Holmes HM1761-U 2Gal Cool Mist HumidifierWe have owned this unit for approximately 3-4 months and have had to change the filter four times now. At about $10 per filter, the cost of ownership is just not worth it. After about a month of use, the filters begin to smell musty or moldy, requiring us to change them (or fill the room with musty smelling moisture).

As humidifiers go, the unit is a bit loud, although as another reviewer said, the 'white noise' type of sound doesn't bother our sleep.

We're definitely searching for a new humidifier this one is becoming to expensive to continue using.

We have 2 of these humidifiers, and they work very well. We require the white noise for sleeping, so we love that it is loud. The tank lasts for two nights (about 24 hours running time. We add a capful of Holmes Bacteriostat to the water each time, and no mold grows on the filter. This product is basically peroxide, and the bottle lasts all winter for two humidifiers. My only complaint is that there is no way to clean off the fan blades, and after three years of use we need new machines. Still, I think they are a great value and they help eliminate stuffy noses at our house!

I actually like the fact that it is loud. I bought it for my kids' room. I like the white noise factor; it helps them both sleep.

I keep it upstairs and I can't hear it downstairs. Doesn't bother me at all. Easy to clean and fill.

I have a lot of Holmes products, so when I was looking for a new humidifier, I purchased this one. It is so loud! On high it sounded like a snow blower at a ski resort. If you are looking to put this in a bedroom or a place where you don't want loud noise, look for a different model.

This humidifier is easy to use, easy to clean and works well without spewing white dust all over the place. The only complaint is that the fan blades get dirty after a few months and they are hard to get to to clean. I just got a screwdriver and took the thing apart, cleaned the fan, and put the unit back together.

Sunpentown SD-652 86-Watt Mini Dehumidifier

Sunpentown SD-652 86-Watt Mini DehumidifierI almost didn't buy this unit because of the mixed reviews, but I took a chance and I'm glad I did. Bottom line, it works spectacularly well if used for an enclosed space where the air isn't being circulated/exchanged. I have it in a guest-cabin behind my house which sits vacant 90% of the time. It extracted about 1 cup of water in 24 hours of summer weather. Over a period of a week or so, I expect it will remove most humidity as long as the cabin stays sealed. There are 2 keys to this unit working effectively: (1) It works slowly, so expecting it to dehumidify your bathroom right after your shower is preposterous. (2) It's not going to work if the air you're trying to dehumidify is being circulated. In other words, if it's a room you're constantly going in and out of, or a room connected to your central A/C unit, forget it. You'll need a big, mechanical dehumidifier. But for spaces where the air isn't being circulated/exchanged, it will eventually extract most of the moisture and keep it dry. A perfect example would be a motor-home. My only (minor) complaints are that optional drain hose is only about 4' long (so I replaced it with a 1/2" x 6' hose from HomeDepot for 3 bucks.) And the power converter gets very hot, so I hooked it to a lamp timer and have it running 2-hours-on then 1-hour-off all day (thus a total of 16 hours a day). Hopefully this will keep it from getting seriously hot. Bottom line--perfect for enclosed spaces but wouldn't recommend for areas where air is being circulated or exchanged.

By way of background, I have been dealing with temp and humidity control devices for many years. Two reasons -one, I am a lifelong asthma sufferer, and I have expensive wooden musical instruments that require constant care. I have owned many humidifiers, dehumidifiers, air cleaners and measuring devices (eg, hygrometers). I am not a technical expert on the science behind these things (although I do not think it is all that complicated). I am, however, a fairly experienced consumer of them.

I was perplexed at the dearth of real reviews of these Supentown dehumidifiers. I figured for the price I would find out for myself.

I put the thing in a room that is 15 by 10, in a basement, in Westchester County, NY. This is my home office. Due to landscape etc, we get a fair amount of humidity. No actual water in the basement, but it is often above 60% rh. In an adjacent basement room, separated by a 10 inch concrete wall, I have a large, high-end dehumidifier. During the first 24 hours after I set this thing up, the big humidifier sucked more than 2 gallons out of the air, in a comparable sized space. This thing...less a 1/4 cup. The rh in the room went from 62%...to 62%. Did not budge.

At the same time, the thing makes a ridiculous amount of noise. It is made of cheap, light plastic, and the fan is very loud and sounds...well, like a cheap fan in cheap, light plastic. By contrast, in the same room I have a Winix model 5300 air filter. This is a good quality unit. The little Supentown dehumidifier is several times as loud as the Winix on its standard setting. Really, it's much louder than it's functionality should warrant. Not that much quieter than a standard dehumidifier with a compressor (one that actually works).

1/4 cup of water in 24 hours from a 62% space, and it was actually raining outside during this time.

This is the first time in many years on amazon that I actually sent a product back solely because of it being a cheap piece of junk. Usually, I suck it up, throw it away, sell it on eBay or whatever. This one annoyed me so much, I sent it back. Don't waste your time and money. Go with a real dehumidifier.

This little dehumidifier, about the size of a boot-sized shoe box on end, performs well. Although essentially all plastic, it is still sturdy. It is ideal for small spaces; I have a 6'x'10x8'h brick structure that is up against a hillside, so quite a bit of moisture comes through two walls even though they are moisture blocked. This unit extracts about 1/2 cup of water per day when the space is closed. This is just enough to satisfy my needs and prevent deterioration of contents. It wouldn't draw enough for a larger area. It would be very good for walk-in closets, even larger than my space, since they would generally have less moisture than I have. I don't believe there would be sufficient benefit for use in a living area since the unit would be overwhelmed by ventilation, having such a little volume capability. This would also be ideal for enclosed spaces in coastal areas.

UPDATE: THE UNIT QUIT WORKING AFTER ABOUT TWO YEARS. DID A GREAT JOB BUT I EXPECTED IT TO LAST A LOT LONGER. OTHER REVIEWERS HAVE SAID THE SAME THING. I REPLACED IT WITH AN EVA-DRY, WHICH IS ABOUT THE SAME DIMENSIONS AND SPECS OUT SIMILARLY, BUT IT REOMVES ONLY ABOUT HALF AS MUCH WATER.

This device works well... That is, it works well if you are in a room that is very warm (summer heat). It doesn't work in the winter, it doesn't work fast, it doesn't do the trick in a bathroom.

To balance my review, I can honestly say that the device is small and quiet. It DOES work, so keep it in mind for an office space and use in the summer, when you need to knock the edge off of the background humidity in a room where additional moisture is not being actively generated.

The product it self was great. It took a little long to get to us and had a crack in the water tank, but it doesn't leak. It has really helped to make a difference in our basement.

Germ Guardian TableTop Humidifier, Model H1000

Germ Guardian TableTop Humidifier, Model H1000It worked great for a few months, then the fan started making strange noises. I tried to clean it out using compressed air, but it didn't help. Eventually, the fan quit turning on altogether. Works well, but not for as long as I would have hoped.

I am very impressed with this humidifier. It is the perfect size for a bedside table. Easy to set up and refill. Has a very fine mist that lasts all night. Shuts off automatically when refill is needed.

I'm a new mom and I can pay for anything that good for my baby.

I bought the Germ Guardian H1000 Ultrasonic Table Top Humidifier month ago.

Love the design, not too heavy to refill the water.

However, after been using it about a month, one day, the red light came up at front, so it's time to refill the water.

I picked the blue toppart up then the blue light inside went off and I smelled something burning inside of it. I thought it was ok to use it without the blue light.

But NO !!!!!, right after fill the water and put it back. It's not working any more.

Maybe I got the defect one, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it.

I would stick with other bulky humidifier which is a lot safer.

aden + anais Classic Muslin Swaddle Blanket 4 Pack

aden + anais Classic Muslin Swaddle Blanket 4 Pack, Jungle JamWondering if you should buy the a+a line or buy aden + anais for amazon, Target, Toys'rus or little77? Well, I bought a+a for Target and little77 and they DO NOT come close to these. These are not only bigger, but the thread quality/count is higher than the swaddle cloths produced for one of the companies. I wanted to save $10 and bought them at Target and now that I have some of the original ones at home, I wish I had invested in them straight from the beginning. They really do become softer the more you wash them. Just like Indian Prefolds fluff up and become all nice the more you wash them, these are really soft too!

***EDIT**** 9 Jan 2012

I just saw that now they have added cheaper ones for $35 among the original sized ones listed above beware those showing up for the original price of $35 are smaller you can see this under the product information. They are 44 x 44 and not the regular 47 x 47. The ones with the original price of $49.95 are the boutique and much nicer ones!

First of all, I will say these are great blankets...big, breathable, cute, etc. but if you've read any of the other reviews, you already know all of that. Here's what I wished I had read before I purchased:

1. If you are like me, you have no idea what the heck muslin is. Well, as they say, it's a soft breathable cotton. The best way to describe it is like a cotton gauze, much like the material used in burp cloth diapers. The exception is, this is much higher quality, making it stronger than gauze, and it's only 1 ply, so it's more breathable than a cloth diaper.

2. This listing is confusing, because it mixes up the wraps and the blankets. If you want the larger 47x47 wraps, then go for the ones that have $49.99 listed as the list price. If you want the smaller 42x42, then go for the ones with the list price of $34.99.

3. What is so great about these blankets? I was trying to figure out why everyone was so in love with these things, and here's what I've deduced...these are MUCH larger than other swaddling blankets, and also much thinner. So, you can wrap your baby up in a nice tight swaddle, with the blanket wrapped completely around them and under their back and they are not too bulky. If you were to have a typical swaddling blanket of the same size, by the time you wrapped up the baby, they probably wouldn't fit in the bassinet, and their head would be 4 inches off the ground.

4. You still have to have swaddling skills. This is not like a swaddleme or sleep sack swaddler. No velcro, no magic. Personally, I am a terrible swaddler and my baby was out of this blanket in 6 minutes flat the first time I used it. But I'm getting better. I have no choice, since my rather large 3 month old has outgrown all of the magical swaddling options.

All in all though, a nice functional set of blankets. And I have no doubt these will still be getting tons of use while the swaddlemes have long been donated away.

I bought one of these on clearance for my 3rd(and last) baby. I bought this 4 pack for gifts for friends and so my 2 older kids could have a blanket in the van on trips. These are the BEST blankets for swaddling when the babies are little. I'm a pediatric nurse and also work on the mother/baby floor and wish we had these at the hospital. These blankets wash like a dream, don't hold on to stains and get softer and softer the more you wash them. My kids love theirs and I will be buying more as my friends and family keep having babies! :) One more thing I love about these blankets, they are light weight and fold down into a very small compact size to fit in a diaper bag (I fit 3 in my glove box for trips) but are big enough to double up for warmth. I also found they are great for covering myself when the baby is nursing and neither of us get too hot from a bulky blanket, like I did with his sisters. I highly recommend and think they make a great shower gift. I buy the 4 pack and give away 2 at a time, one to use and one can be in the wash. Slightly expensive but so worth it (my first blanket is over 15mo old and still looks brand new)!

I found these muslin swaddle blankets when I was compiling my baby registry here at Amazon. I don't think I've ever seen these before or maybe I just had never paid much attention to baby things until recently as it has been 8 years since my last baby! These are wonderful blankets. We used the small flannel receiving blankets with our first child which were fine but she outgrew them so fast and she LOVED being swaddled so it was sad when she outgrew them.

At first I looked into those halo sleeper swaddlers but after reading about some possible safety concerns I knew I had to find something different. SO glad I found these! I love how huge they are! I plan on using them for all kinds of things not just swaddling. Pack n play mattress cover, nursing cover, blanket, stroller shade, carseat shade, burp rag, lovee blanket, daycare blanket, I'll keep one in the diaper bag at all times you name it. This makes the price a bit easier to swallow too knowing I will be using this for multiple things. After ordering the first package and seeing them in person I ordered another pack as well! So far we have the jungle ones which are super cute and prince charming is on its way! I thought the striped prince charming would make a nice nursing cover as it is probably a bit more opaque.

As others have mentioned please make sure you are buying the ones with the starting price of $49.99 if you look down in the description it will also say that they measure 47x47. The cheaper, smaller thinner weight ones measure 44x44 and have a starting price of $30-something. So just know what you are ordering because they seem to mix them all together in this listing.

And I thought I should also mention I got these at GREAT PRICES by buying them through the Amazon Warehouse. Just click on each pattern if you see one that says it has a "Used" price (down below) click on that and see if it is from the Amazon Warehouse. I am not sure what they mean by used but I've ordered a ton of things through the Amazon Warehouse and it all comes looking New in Box so I don't really understand their definition of used. Anyway I ended up getting the Jungle ones for around $36 and the prince charming pattern for around $28!!! And these are the nice 47x47" ones!

I love these blankets. They are thin and airy enough that I never worried about my son suffocating with them. If it is colder out, I just double them up.

The blankets are fabulous for spit up accidents. Most blankets are too small. Since these absorb so well and are large. Perfect for swaddling.

My son uses them as sleeping blankets and for security. The are also great to cover up your stroller when your baby is sleeping. Great for picnics and sun shades. Their size lets you be creative.
