I've tried a lot of types of humidifiers for my 30 ct, $40 wooden cigar box. This open stone, low cost, device seems to hold my % humidity between 65-70 percent more reliably than other more expensive items I've tried.

Here's Why:

My low cost humidor was Very difficult to season. And being able to oversaturate this stone helped maintain the humidity level. The bags and pillows just wouldn't keep up.

If I only use distilled water this remains usable for months, and months.

I found that even after seasoning the box, the pouches and pillows couldn't keep up with how often I open the lid (up to twice a day). I did have success with pillows and pouches when I left the lid down for at least a week at a time.

I like these because I can vary the water amount to compensate for differences in humidity levels easily and quickly. You can't throw it in an forget it, but it doesn't cost a fortune either.

I bought a few of these for 2 humidors I keep only partially stocked. My joe-brand ones had quit helping out long ago and you can really tell the difference when your humidifiers are putting out the right amount of water. The junky ones these replaced wouldn't hold 1/2 the water, so now I'm doing a lot less maintenance and the humidity is right where it should be.

bought this from a local store. it blows a nice mist that I like but the box said it runs 10 hours. pamplet inside says not to leave house for 6 hours with it running. we slept six to seven hours and it was completely dry.

It's very small and uses a wick. The first one I bought stopped working after a couple of days for no apparent reason. Had to return. The replacement continues to work, but works best when completely filled to keep the wick wet. If it isn't used every day and is allowed to empty, the wick has to be taken out and soaked again to get it going. There's no control for how much mist you get, only on/off. It is big enough to run for about twelve hours.

This product worked for about a week and then stopped. Buy something else. I got safety first from target and it works well.

Haier DE65EJ-L 65 Pint Electronic Dehumidifier, Energy Star Rated

Haier has some problems with their DE65EK. Purchased it mainly because it does has a direct drain feature. Plugged in, connected hose and turned on. Worked fine but all condensate is only going into the unit container bucket. Elevated front to give more slope for it to drain, still fulled bucket which of course then turns unit off. Called their customer service 2 different timestried their suggestionsstill drains only into unit container. Other than not draining 'direct' it ran nicely. Returned it to store for exchange. Not the same for the 2nd one, ran for 24 hours with NO condensate discharge at all. Called customer service againthey had no suggestions other than replace it. Returning it to store and will purchase DIFFERENT BRAND!!

If you should buy one... a word of caution, on the 2nd unit there was a small piece of tube sled in to hold the 'Bucket Full' switch in a closed position which means it would continue to run after full and overflow the bucket.

The basic compressor & blower works fine, does the job, isn't too loud, etc. The drain hose attachment is easy to set up and it's easy to move the unit around. But the digital controls & or sensor scheme leaves a lot to be desired.

When the unit turns off the residual moisture on the coils raises the sensed humidity as much higher (apparently inside the cabinet) than the actual room humidity, and it short-cycles 2-3 minutes on, 3-5 minutes off, repeat, apparently forever (or maybe until mid-winter when the RH drops to 30%? We'll see... Bumping the programmed humidity to the maximum 70% isn't sufficient to overcome the short-cycling, even when humidity monitors in the room 15' away from the unit are indicating 55% RH. Short cycling like this it's probably lowering the average efficiency, and since it's over-shooting well beyond the set point by (15% RH or more) it's using much more energy than it should. If I had it to do over again, I'd skip the digital control version and go with the version with elecro-mechanical dehumidistat and rely on humidity monitors & human interaction to tweak the setting. The digital controls seem designed to short-cycle the unit into an early grave.

Since the controls have the capability of turning on the blower (at high or low speed) and compressor independently, it would be more energy efficient to run the blower for 30-60seconds to sense the room's humidity level rather than the humidity level inside the cabinet before engaging the compressor, as a method keeping it from drying the room well beyond the setpoint. Alternatively, lengthening the minimum run time and adding 1-2 minutes of purge running the blower after disengaging the compressor MIGHT work well enough. (Does anybody do the basic engineering these days?) It has all of the necessary hardware built in to do a great job, but as programmed it falls short.

No matter what it would also be easier on the hardware to set minimum run times longer than just a couple of minutes, with correspondingly lengthened minimum off times. There is no situation in a residential setting where the humidity would change so rapidly as to require cycles a short as 2-3 minutesit's the average duty cycle that matters. Reducing 10-15 on/off cycles per hour to 2 or 3 wouldn't hurt function, but it would improve longevity of the equipment, and help the average efficiency. I'm sure it meets it's EnergyStar efficiency rating in a bench test, but in the real world it could do better. (A LOT better.) The control algorithm and humidity sensing arrangements are terribleI'd give the engineer who came up with it a Cor D+, and make them do it over. But not having used the competition's digital controls, it's hard to say if they do it any better.

Product showed up well boxed but was missing any instructions. Plugged it in and it kicked in right away, however, the "bucket full" does not work, so it overflowed once. I believe this box may have been pre-opened, no instructions and the lack of the "bucket full" not working lead me to this conclusion, though it was sold as new.

The product does work well remove moisture from the air.

Worked fine the first summer. Stored in a dry, clean basement over winter. Plugged in the next spring and it did not produce any water. Of course this was just barely four weeks after the one-year warranty expired. Haier's customer service was unwilling to work with us. Said we would have to get it repaired, which would cost more than the original unit! Very disappointed!!! Poor quality of product and terrible customer service = no more Haier products for us! One star is too much for this product, but unfortunately the lowest we can go.

Summer Infant Swaddleme Adjustable Wrap

I gave birth to my first kid 8 weeks ago. We got several blankets from friends and family, including one "miracle blanket". We initially tried swaddling our child in regular blankets, which worked well, but he often escaped the blanket,and would wake up crying with his arms flailing around.

We then turned to the "miracle blanket" which worked well (better), but was cumbersome to put on (it has to be wrapped a number of times around the child, often waking them up or irritating them in the process). Plus it retails for like $30.

I then bought one of these swaddling blankets, and was amazed at how easy it was to put on, and how effective it was. The kid sleeps in it every night.

Honestly, this is the only blanket we really needed, at least for the first few months. It's a great example of how the most expensive baby item is not the best one. I give one of these to all my pregnant friends!

I love swaddlers; however, I do not recommend this swaddler at all if you are in the market for a bigger size swaddler because your baby has outgrown their infant or newborn swaddler! These are amazing for newborns, we used them on both kids. I prefer the ones with the extra straps on the inside, I mistakenly thought this had those because the packaging matched the one we had for our daughter when she was a baby and she is now 8 months old and outgrown it. She sleeps with or without a swaddler but better with one. She's a BIG girl weighing in at 18 (almost 19 lbs) at her 6 month checkup and her newborn swaddler was a REAL tight fit and stretched out. So we purchased this in a size large for 14-22 lb. I can guranatee she weighs 20 lbs now and it swims on her. I do not recommend the size L unless your baby weighs at least 25 lbs or more and still needs swaddled. We actually put her other swaddler on underneath this one because it's so big. It covers her face and it's extremely long, I will say it again, I do not recommend this swaddler at all if you are in the market for a bigger size swaddler because your baby has outgrown their infant or newborn swaddler!

This and the Kiddopotamus & Co. Organic Cotton SwaddleMe Ivory were two of the best baby products I've had the pleasure to own. My 3 1/2 month old girl was a much better sleeper at night with these on. With a sleepsack or something else for night, she would wake up as soon as we tried to put her down. The swaddleme kept her arms from flailing and seemed to give her a secure and comforting feeling. I like how the organic fabric is soft, natural and doesn't keep the baby too warm. It is much more stretchy than some other fabrics available, which means it fits a wider range of baby sizes, but can be easier for bigger babies to wiggle out.

Since she started rolling onto her tummy, we've had to move onto the Halo Innovations SleepSack Organic Cotton Swaddle Cats and Dogs, Newborn. The Swaddleme worked much better to help her sleep, and I also thought it was far superior to the Miracle Blanket Baby Swaddling Blanket Beige. I'd highly recommend it for any parent, but don't order the large size until you see if your baby is rolling over at an early age (or you have an abnormally large infant).

This is a great swaddling blanket. It wraps easily. This will keep baby snuggly swaddled and cozy. By swaddling little ones it keeps them from jerking in their sleep and waking themselves up. The pressure of the wrapped blanket also makes them feel secure and safe.

Nice, soft organic cotton. Many things organic are made in China, in response to the other review, you should NEVER buy something online and assume it isn't from China even if organic. It seems very wasteful to burn them especially since its organic and cotton, not plastic so probably lead-free.

Aromatherapy Diffuser

This little black diffuser seems to be working well so far and I appreciate that it does not stick out like a sore thumb on my counters (it looks like a small mortar bowl, minus the pestle). That being said, I would have loved a little more volume in the vapors. However, it does produce a fair amount, lasts several hours with one fill, and seems to be effective in getting the essential oils dispersed.

Overall... good design and value for the money!

Honeywell makes 2 different pads. HC26P1002 is made out of paper and coated with an anti-microbial coating. HC26E1004, which costs more, is a clay pad with Agion coating, the coating is silver ion anti microbial, not just plain anti-microbial. I like the clay product better.

Great for the price. The pad is made of paper, but since you should replace it every year that is not a problem. The do make a aluminum pad, but it is not really necessary and just adds cost. The paper pad is coated with something so the paper does not fall apart.

Replaced a whole house humidifier pad that had been in my Honeywell HE265B for about two years. This pad is easy to install but it will be made of plastic and seem a little less robust than the aluminum pad that you may be replacing. The recommendation is to change the filter twice a heating season so this may be a more cost effective alternative than its aluminum alternative HC26E1004.

HWF23CS Holmes Humidifier Replacement Filter (2 Pack)

Filters came in nothing but the outer mailer bag. They honestly look like a larger filter that were cut down to size rather than an actual true replacement. Doesn't have the benefit of color change portion of filter to let you know when it needs changed-like the original filter that came with humidifier had. Once placed in humidifier water did not wick up filter thus not allowing it to work properly.

I received the filters with NO packaging, no label not sure what company that they came from. Did not look like real Holmes filters. In fact, they looked like they were cut from a larger piece. I returned these and ordered directly through another online filter retailer.

Amazon to the rescue. We've owned these humidifiers for several years, but they had been in storage as we had not needed them. I could not find filters to fit locally, but was able to order the exact size/model needed. They fit, they work, and we'll order again when they need replaced.

The benefit is that it doesn't cost much. The downside is that it gets mildewy faster than normal because it isn't treated with awesome disinfectant like the more expensive ones. I have been drying and disinfecting the filter between use to extend the life. Also, it is a bit smaller than the actual filter.
